New season picks up with everyone celebrating July 4th and things are as normal and happy as it gets. Unfortunately this state doesn’t last long and deadly turn of events changes situation for, probably, all of our main characters in the first minutes of the show.
According
to episode’s synopsis, Annie and the rest of the staff find themselves in an
unfamiliar situation. Change is, in fact, a very good word to describe the
beginning of the new season. It may be especially true for Annie and Auggie, who
are both given a big responsiblity and a chance to be more independent in their
actions.
We are also introduced to the two new characters: Lena, Annie’s new
mentor played by Sarah Clarke and mysterious person of interest Simon played by
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time's Richard Coyle.
As
a fan of Sarah Clarke’s work on 24, I have to admit it’s nice to see her in a role
of legendary CIA operative running her own division. Lena has her own set of rules which she’s pretty soon starting to pass
on to Annie. Looks like we have another strong female character on the horizon.
Simon, on the
other hand, is Annie’s next mission which takes her long way from home and
seems to be representing Annie’s change in her way of handling operations and a
big challenge for season 3.
As for the
episode itself, it’s a strong beginning to the new story for our characters. Prepare
to see lines being crossed, rules being made and new threats introduced.
And just a couple
of teases at the end:
„You’re
the best mother, sister could ever had”
„Lesson
One: No desks for operatives. Operatives should be operating”
Don’t miss the season premiere of Covert
Affairs, airing this Tuesday at 10/9C on USA.
