Episode 6.06 of Burn Notice is without a doubt the most important episode of the series yet. If you have not been watching Burn Notice, this is the best episode to start watching. It has action, it has humor, and in the end it is sad. This episode is split into 3 different story lines. One with Fiona in prison, one with Sam and Barry held up in a mansion, and, of course, Michael Westen trying to capture Anson Fullerton.
I'll talk a small amount about Fiona's situation first. For the most part in television I have disliked the part where one of our hero’s goes to prison. However, Burn Notice has does it in style and has made Fi’s prison time enjoyable for me. A man from the British Embassy (which she was framed for blowing up) arrives and wants to publicly transfer her to the new embassy. In doing this her family would be under attack in Ireland. This gives Fiona two options : sign a confession or have her family killed. She turns to her friend who gets things done in the prison for help. They make a deal and Fi will be safe..... for a while. I'll leave the rest of that story, however, to the episode itself.
The second part of the episode deals with Barry and Sam caught up in a mansion with men with guns trying to kill them. This part moved a little slow for me and is my only complaint about the episode. Sam poses as a police officer and claims to have massive forces who will not hesitate to kill all of them. The leader of their group, Garrett, is played by William Mapother, who Lost fans will recognize as Ethan. After stalling and talking his way through it Sam goes Macgyver on everything in the house. Sam later gets in the bath tub Barry, and takes a fiery bath. Barry’s whining and Sam’s quick one liners added some comic relief for the episode. Chuck Finley will make an appearance.
The third and most important part of the episode was Michael attempting to capture the notorious Anson Fullerton. Last we saw, Rebecca was giving Michael the address to where Anson would pick up shipments of fake ID’s and stuff like that. Michael fills in Pearce on the situation. Pearce is pissed at first, as can be expected, but eventually comes around to just trusting Mike. For some reason or another, Pearce insists that Sam cannot take part in the mission, but Nate can. This was another point of contention for me in the episode. I was thinking, “So the moron who gambles big can be a part of the operation but the guy who has had Mike’s back this entire time can’t!?!?!” I just found it unlikely. Overall this part is surprising and provides Burn Notice with an excellent episode ending.
Hints about the Episode
1. Someone will not make it out of their predicament alive.
2. It’s not who you think.
