Thanks to Stupot815 for the heads up.
AMC just closed a deal this week to begin creating a new scripted series, “Area 51,” based on the best-selling book of the same title by Annie Jacobsen, The Post has learned.
Already aboard the “Area 51” spacecraft project are Gale Anne Hurd (“The Walking Dead”) as executive producer, Todd E. Kessler (“The Unit,” “The Good Wife,” “Rome),” as writer and Jacobsen as a co-producer.
In case you don’t know what Area 51 is, then clearly you haven’t been abducted by aliens (the space kind, not the border-crossing kind) since that crash in Roswell, NM, 65 years ago.
Area 51 is a remote, secretive, high-security portion of Edwards Air Force Base in Nevada — where, rumor has it, the military keeps living and/or dead alien creatures, as well as pieces of a flying saucer recovered from a crash site in nearby Roswell in 1947.

Sounds good. I'll be waiting to hear more news, but it seems pretty nice so far.
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting! Be glad to hear more about it!
ReplyDeleteSounds pretty good!
ReplyDeletesounds exciting and I'm pretty sure AMC can't produce a bad series. :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent, I was wondering what had happened to this project.
ReplyDeleteI really like the sound of this and being on AMC it should be good as well
ReplyDeleteAs a fan of alien conspiracy SciFi, I have watched some crappy series/ movies and still managed to enjoy them. This looks to be something interesting to me AND well done!
ReplyDeleteEven if the creative team seems to be outstanding, cast always matters. So I await some casting news before I get truly excited, however with AMC I have less worries of them hiring pretty faces that cannot act like CW etc...
I grew up looking at the sky above and wondering. I want to believe and The X-Files were anywhere. I'm so happy to still be an X-Philer xD Just reading the title of this one and I get M&S's feelings like a teen. I have to check this out.
ReplyDeleteI´ll give just about any AMC show a try, but this sounds interesting. Let´s hope for a good cast.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be keeping up with how this unfolds. :) I've loved Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and enjoyed The Walking Dead, so Area 51, bring it on!
ReplyDeleteThis being on AMC is pretty damn cool.
ReplyDeleteCool premise, nice creative team, and on AMC? This will be one to keep an eye on
ReplyDeleteso does this mean tht]at it has been ordered to series? or just in the early stages of devolopment? or ordered to pilot?
ReplyDeleteI'm not 100% sure myself. I think they have just got the rights to it and that they have just ordered the script. Reading the full article it seems it's not been ordered to pilot yet
ReplyDeleteSci-Fi on AMC - that's something new, isn't it? So it might be interesting, I'm very glad that a solid network eventually decided to pick up something like that!
ReplyDeleteDarqueMode Did you ever get into Dark Skies? I suspect/hope this will be an updated version of this. Loved that show :)
ReplyDeleteI think I heard about this project before. Can wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't sound bad at all. I'd watch it.
ReplyDeleteI did watch Dark Skies.
ReplyDeleteI think that was the first time I had seen Eric Close...
I did not watch it all the way through during its original run though... I had to catch some on late night reruns and I think a SciFi Channel marathon... some cable channel.
I wonder if AMC will cast Joel Gretsch in a lead role? XD
I swear he is the go to actor for alien conspiracy shows! The 4400, Taken, and V at least.... He played an agent hunting aliens, a general hinting aliens and a freedom fighter priest battling aliens....
Come to think of it, what does Mr. Gretsch have against aliens? Damn! Can't an alien just get a little peace and quiet?
LOL Very true. I'd not realised just how many "alien" shows he's been involved in.
ReplyDeleteThey only thing I don't like is the waiting to actually see it. But either way call me excited
ReplyDeleteThis sounds cool! Nice selection of producers too!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely interested in this.
