Supernatural - Ultimate Episode Round 1E - Polls
8 Jun 2012
Polls SupernaturalAnother round done and four more episodes advance to round 2 easily: Swan Song, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Abandon All Hope, and The Song Remains the Same. What didn't remain the same was my perfect prediction record. I went with My Heart Will Go On instead. That makes me 15 out of 16 now, but there may be a close vote today too. Episodes leaving the contest include: The Real Ghostbusters, Shadow (which had 38% of the vote), The Kids are Alright, and My Heart Will Go On. So sorry to say goodbye to TKAA already.
Today we are taking a small break from our Favorite Quotes nominations to nominate your favorite episode title. You DO NOT have to like the episode, just its name. This nomination form will stay open for one week and we will do the actual poll towards the end of the summer. Happy voting, nominating, and commenting!

Easy peasy today. The
ReplyDeleteround contains some of my favorite SPN episodes of all. Great mytharc building game changers with
enough action and drama to satisfy either camp of SPN fans. Round 2 is going to be very tough on this
side of the bracket.
1. Changing Channels
- I like Sex and Violence. I would vote
for it over quite a few episodes that have already advanced to round 2. I don't like it better than Changing Channels
though. Besides the car getting smashed
at the end of Devil's Trap, nothing has surprised me more on SPN than the
Trickster being revealed as the archangel Gabriel. It was such a big shock I couldn't process it
right away. Awesome episode that
transitions well from comedy to drama.
2. Simon Said - This
episode has Andy, one of the best
underused characters of them all. I love
how it tied into the mytharc but it was
still a lot of fun. So many great lines
in this one. The scene where Dean gives
the car to Andy is priceless as is Sam's reaction when Dean starts telling Andy
what they are really doing there. The
whole episode is golden. The only that
rocked in Live Free or Twihard for me was Dean as the vampire killing all the others.
3. Croatoan - One of
my favorite season 1 mytharc episodes.
This one gave us the immortal "You have a neighbor named Mr.
Rogers." "Not
anymore." It also gives my second
favorite Sam quote, "That's not school.
That's Schoolhouse Rock." I
loved the mystery around why Sam was not infected by the virus. The scene where Sam tries to get Dean to
leave and Dean refuses is one of the more powerful in the series. Croatoan was awesome from start to finish.
4. Jus in Bello -
Even if I liked the whiny Max story, it wouldn't beat Jus in Bello. Talk about another fantastic mytharc
episode. Henriksen is one of my favorite
characters and to watch him go from the brothers' #1 enemy to working side by
side with them was brilliant. I loved
how the brothers got to show off how smart they were and all the action. Plus who could forget - "I shot the
sheriff." "But you didn't
shoot the deputy.
Changing Channels - I'm not really that much of a fan of this episode but I never liked Sex and Violence either so CC gets my vote
ReplyDeleteSimon Said - Except for a few good jokes, Twihard wasn't that great. Simon Said, on the other hand, is a solid episode.
Croatoan - Damn fine episode. I'll take this solid, suspenseful episode over the daddy issues.
Jus in Bello - I've praised this episode enough 'round here to give me carpal tunnel from typing so much.
Well damn. We voted the same. That doesn't happen too often.
ReplyDeleteHa! Somewhere Crowley is putting on his ice skates.
ReplyDeleteChanging Channels - one of my favs (Top 20) and so funny! Many great parodies, and seeing Dean fanboy over Dr. Sexy was the best thing I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteLive Free or Twi-Hard - Probably one of the rare times a season 6 episode will rank above anything else. I don't know why I like this one, because it's pretty awful. I do love all the digs the episode makes at Twilight, and this is the first time we see (and when Dean realizes) that Sam is not right.
Croatoan - A great season 2 episode! This barely beats Dead Man's Blood in my personal ranking, but it is a great episode.
Jus In Bello - Another favorite that will be my go-to choice for quite awhile I think. Great storytelling, and a wonderful episode for season 3.
Season 4 wins all the awards for the Best Episode Titles. I'm just sad we only get to nominate three!1. The Monster at the End of This Book - Grover is my FAVORITE. And this allusion to my FAVORITE childhood book is perfect. I love this title so much.2. Are You There God? It's Me, Dean Winchester - another callback to a book I read many times as a tween.3. It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester - a shout-out to Charlie Brown? YES!Top runners up:The Usual SuspectsDark Side of the Moon99 Problems (and a whore ain't one...)How To Win Friends and Influence MonstersThe Girl With the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo
Hmmm, not as easy, but: 1. Changing Channels. Altho I did like the siren, Dean admitting to reading the Odyssey, and the siren induced confrontation between the brothers, I absolutely loved fangirl Dean, CSI Winchesters and and the humor which quickly turned to seriousness when it was revealed the Trickster was actually the Archangel Gabriel 2. Live Free or TwiHard.Outside of the fact that I loved all the little stabs at Twilight, Dean as a vampire and clearing out the nest single handedly was all kinds of awesome. And in this one I actually liked Gpa Creepy and figured out there was something drastically wrong with Sam. I liked Andy and his van, but the rest of Simon Said was meh for me. 3. Croatoan and Dead Man's Blood are a toss up. Loved both, so flipping a coin... Dean Man's blood. I think I'm in the minority on that one. 4. Simple. Jus in Bello. One of my favorites. :)
ReplyDeleteChanging Channels is getting my vote, but just by a hair. I also loved Loki/Trickster/Gabriel, in fact I liked him well enough to name one of my rehab baby squirrels Gabriel. ;)
ReplyDeleteI liked Live Free for a couple of reasons, it made fun of the vampire that sparkles and I finally got to see that Sam was NOT fine. Enjoyed Dean as a vamp, but it was hard for me, watching Dean, watching Sam.
Croatoan for all the reasons Dahne used and the Mr Rogers line was a big laugh from me.
Jus in Bello was just better and again loved the I shot the sheriff line, classic SPN.
I LOVE this poll! For once I knew the episodes. Wahoo! It didn't have to think or vacillate. Can they all be like this?
ReplyDeleteLive Free or Twihard is currently narrowly beating Simon Said. Huh! Well that's surprising. Or maybe just to me. I haven't watched/read Twilight, so the parody fell a bit flat. And it felt like they needed to dumb Dean down a lot to sell the premise that Dean would visit L&B while knowing he was feeling homicidal.
ReplyDeleteOther than that, I picked Sex and Violence, but really I think they're both fantastic episodes. Five minutes later, I might have picked the other way.
I picked Croatoan over Dead Man's Blood. Love the execution of the whole croatoan/swine-flu arc and how it was weaved into various seasons. Loved the Sam and Dean moments. Dead Man's Blood: Supernatural's vampires are not my thing. It did have Daddy Winchester though, and other good stuff.
And I picked Jus in Belo over Nightmare. Nightmare was pretty good. But Jus in Belo is just one of my all time favorite episodes of Supernatural. Perfection!
And of course, I voted for Simon Said. Andy was cool! And Dean handing over the Impala....that was just... hahahaha, aah poor Dean. And Sam dealing with the possibility of YED turning all the kids into murders. Good episode.
Super easy today! Changing Channels, Simon Said, Croatoan and Jus in Bello, didn't have to hesitate or think twice for a change.
ReplyDeleteFavorite Episode Titles: Usually because they refer to something else or because they made me laugh (Jump the Shark was what people thought the show would do in that episode. The End coming at the beginning of season 5. Changing Channels because what show puts that in the title. Criss Angel & Twihard - self explanatory)

Me either. I like polls like this one. Unfortunately though, an easy round 1 usually means a very difficult round 2.
ReplyDelete1. Changing Channels, although this was hard because I also love Sex and Violence
ReplyDeletethe rest were super easy.
2. Simon Said
3. Croatoan
4. Jus in Bello
Episode Titles - The Girl With the Dungeon and Dragon Tattoos takes the cake for me, the other were Are You There God? It's Me, Dean Winchester and Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things
I expected Live Free or Twihard and Simon said to be the closest race because they are the closest in rank. But I'm with you because I never thought they would be this close. It's not even a contest for me since most of Live Free or Twihard was lame. I expected it to be a great funny parody of Twilight but all of its "Twilight" moments fell incredibly flat, especially the beginning scene. The only remotely funny part was "How is that not rape-y?" Other than that and the Bieber/Ephron comment, this episode was incredibly unfunny.
ReplyDelete1. Changing Channels - the Trickster turning out to be an arch-angel was a surprising twist. Tons of fun scenes and great lines.
ReplyDelete2. Simon Said - I adored Andy. He was a great character. Some of my favorite scenes. Dean giving Andy the Impala and Dean unable to stop himself from spewing their life story. Also some great lines Andy: these are not the droids you're looking for and I have.. an evil twin, plus Dean sings so....
3. Croatoan - absolutely love the scene between Sam and Dean when Sam tries to get Dean to leave and he won't. I also enjoyed the scene with Dean in the Impala and the Croatoans blocking the road. Croatoan had some great lines including:
Sarge: My neighbor, Mr. Rogers…Dean: You've got a neighbor named Mr. Rogers? Sarge: Not anymore.
Sam: Roanoke? Lost colony? Ring a bell? Dean, did you pay any attention to history class? Dean: Yeah. The shot heard 'round the world, how bills become laws....Sam: That's not school; that's Schoolhouse Rock! Dean: Whatever.
4. Jus in Bello - Action packed episode. Loved how smart and resourceful Sam and Dean were and how Henrickson went from trying to send the boys to SuperMax to working with the boys once he was enlightened. It also had some great lines:
Henricksen: I shot the sheriff.... Dean: But you didn't shoot the deputy.
Dean: It's like we got a contract on us. Think it's because we're so awesome? I think it's 'cause we're so awesome.
Dean: Honestly, I think the world's going to end bloody. But it doesn't mean we shouldn't fight. We do have choices. I choose to go down swingin'.
I agree. It was the easiest poll yet. Just remember though that the winners of this round will compete against each other in round 2. Talk about difficult choices coming our way.
ReplyDeleteYep but I seemed to be in sync with most of the pollsters as of late, which is really strange for me, we'll see how the trend holds up in the next few rounds
ReplyDeleteAw that is cute that you named your squirrel Gabriel. I always liked that name and of course I like it even more now. Just watched Tall Tales today so I'm riding a Trickster high.
ReplyDeletePretty sure Changing Channels and Jus in Bello will be the blowouts today. It's hard to beat two episodes are finely crafted as those two. When they go against each other, I'm going to be pulling hair.
ReplyDeleteThe Monster at the End of This Book is going to get a nom from me too. Never in a million years thought I'd be voting for that episode for anything since it's one of my hands-down least favorites. I wasn't a particular fan of the book as a kid but the incongruity of Sesame Street combined with Supernatural is so mind-blowing to me that it is definitely a contender. That's the same reason why Are You There God? It's Me, Dean Winchester, It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester, Free to Be You and Me, I Believe the Children are Our Future, and My Heart Will Go On are on my list too. I would never associate any of these with SPN.
ReplyDeleteI released Gab, Dean, Sam and Cas at the same time and the two that show up everyday for hand outs are Sam and Dean. Lucky me. lol
ReplyDeleteI loved the porn movie Gabriel made to tell the boys about the horsemen's rings.
These are some of my favorite quotes too. I think the favorite quote contest is going to be twice as difficult as this one. Even in the worst episodes, there are often quotes I adore. In the best episodes, there are pages of quotes I adore.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe I forgot Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things on my list. That's another one I'll have to consider.
ReplyDeleteChanging Channels, Live Free Or Twihard, Croatoan, and Jus In Bello.
ReplyDeleteYou're doing much better than me right now then. Only 8 of the 16 polls we have done so far have gone my way. At least no one can accuse me of rigging the vote. My choices rarely win.
ReplyDeleteBwah!!! I love it!
ReplyDeleteGabriel's porn movie was the best thing about Hammer of the Gods.
Daddy issues don't do much for me either. Of course it helps that I never liked the daddy who caused the issues. While I liked the premise of dead man's blood being poison for vamps and the Colt was a real plus, Simon Said really ramped up the Special Children story line for me.
ReplyDeleteWay to burst my bubble. Thanks a million.
ReplyDeletej/k xD
You hit the nail on the head. Dead Man's Blood's value is in what it accomplished (the blood, the Colt, psychic kids) and not its entertainment value, of which there was little.
ReplyDeletehaha! I do like the episode as well as the title, but you are right that knowing it's a Sesame Street book and trying to associate that with a show that is definitely not kid friendly is pretty great.
ReplyDeleteAnd all the others you listed are great! I had so many on my list to choose from - but season 4 had all the best.
(also, what the heck happened to my original comment format? I didn't write those title noms all smooshed together!)
I honestly wouldn't of remembered, I had to stare at the list of all the episodes and pick the top three =p
ReplyDeleteSwan Song
ReplyDeleteLucifer Rising
Jus In Bello
Ha! So sorry. I guess I think like a Winchester sometimes, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
ReplyDeleteI've has a lot of formatting issues these days too, especially with the quotes. Kind of annoying since you have to edit in that teeny tiny editing box.
ReplyDeleteI've found that all the episode titles I hate writing out are the ones on this list. Perhaps that's why my plea for shorter titles goes unheeded.
Wow, super easy.
ReplyDeleteChanging Channels
Simon Said (by MILES over LFOT)
Croatoan
Jus in Bello
The picks were super easy today. I went with Changing Channels (which continues to be in my top 3 comedy episodes of the series), Simon Said (a fun addition to the season arc - I loved Andy!), Croatoan (a very cool concept), and Jus in Bello (an absolutely fantastic episode, complete with Henricksen, movement on the arc, and a touch of humor).
ReplyDeleteHmm. Things are starting to get even more difficult although a lot of my favourite episodes have already been eliminated.
ReplyDeleteI'll go with Changing Channels as it was slightly reminiscent of Mystery Spot, in that it started off light hearted and finished up in drama with Gabriel in the warehouse. Then the TV sketches were hilarious. Sam as Kit was so sweet and although I'm not a great fan of ass jokes, the one with Sam/Kit was really funny.
A great episode.
I liked Sex and Violence too, but I don' t enjoy it when the brothers are at each other's throats, although this time they were both under the siren's spell, so it doesn't count.
However the fight scene was well done.
X
X
Here again a difficult choice.
I liked both episodes, But it goes to LFOT.
I loved Simon Said and Andy is one of the sweetest characters ever to be on the show.
The story was good too, Andy's van was epic and I liked Dean's warning to Andy at the end."Be good Andy or we'll be back" or something similar.
However I'm going to give it to Live Free or Twihard because we get to see the Alpha Vamp, and I know it's bad to root for violence of any kind, but when Dean took on all the vamps in the hide-out, I was cheering.
If it takes Dean being turned into a vampire to get him back to being the bad-ass Dean that I love, then bring it on.
I liked that we got a further glimpse into Soulless Sam's ambiguity too.
Then the line at the end was epic, taken in the contest of the episode. "You'll always have my back Sammy."
X
X
No problem here, thank goodness.
Croatoan is a marvellous episode, from the moment the boys set foot in that creepy town until the very last scene;it was riveting. Then I always tear up when one of the brothers is ready to die with or for the other. Sigh!
Dead Man's Blood just doesn'tinspire me at all.
X
X
Here I have to go with Jus in Bello, an episode that needs no explanation, but I love Nightmare too.
I like the Max Miller story.
Then we get to see the brothers as the most unpriestly priests I have ever seen.:)
Sam's line about how Max's life of abuse could have been theirs too, had their Dad hunted less and tequila-d more was thought provoking, although it's not as if the life they did lead was all that easy in any case.
There was a lot to ponder in this episode and it's a shame they didn't manage to save Max.
Hmm. Nearly the same except for Twihard. :)
ReplyDeleteRound 1E - i think E stands for "easy" - Changing Channels, Simon Said, Croatoan, Jus in Bello.
ReplyDeleteAnd in the episodes if they haven't changed the "Get Dick" then that one would surely get my vote :)
however, i choose Dark Side of the Moon (because of Pink Floyd), Criss Angel is a Douche Bag, and Folsom Prison Blues (Johnny Cash).
I know that this nomination is simply for the cutest title but I'm finding it strangely hard to be completely objective as it's difficult to separate the titles from the actual episode, but maybe that's just me !
ReplyDeleteAnyway, my three are:-
"Born Under A Bad Sign": I just like the sound of it.
"All Hell Breaks Loose": A more evocative title than this is difficult to come up with.
"Jus in Bello:"A touch of Latin is always good especially for SPN, and then I like it's meaning "Justice in War"
ha! yeah, editing my comment in that tiny box is always fun.
ReplyDeleteI do hope we get some shorter titles this coming season! Or just a few that are more than four words...and none that are so similar I can't keep 'em straight (The Man Who Would Know To Be King Much).
* Changing Channels - Sam as Kitt...
ReplyDelete* Simon Said - I almost labeled this "NOT_Live Free or Twihard" - I did like Simon Said...not sure I'd move it to the top of the stack, but I definitely liked it better the Live Free or Twihard...the title of that ep has so much promise and the execution just didn't get anywhere close.* Croatoan - one of my favs...just so much juiciness. It was one of those eps that put me on the edge of my seat and forced me to stay there. I have a lot of fun with this series but few have done that.* Jus In Bello - one of my favs...another one that had me on the edge of my seat. plus it managed to surprise me a couple of times. I was really disappointed I didn't get to Hendricks as a hunter.
So that's what an easy poll looks like...Good to know! ; )
ReplyDeleteChanging Channels - The first 35 minutes or so were, for me,the best comedy on the show so far.And the revelation in the last five one of my favorite twists. There's nothing better than an episode that contains both amazing comedy and drama. And there's Richard Speight.Basically, this couldn't get any better.
Simon Said - First of all,it has Andy, one of my favorite minor characters. The story line progressed nicely and it had some funny moments.Great episode, all in all!
Croatoan - I think of it as The End prequel.Awesome episode with action and drama at their finest and a few cool snarky comments.
Jus in Bello - So perfect!Lots of action and twists, with some great guest stars and a shocking end.
I've never thought about episode titles, that's a cool poll.Let's see...
What Is and What Should Never Be
All Hell Breaks Loose
Jus In Bello
No Rest For The Wicked
I Know What You Did Last Summer
Heaven and Hell
The Monster at the End of This Book
Abandon All Hope
The Song Remains the Same
Dark Side of the Moon
How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters
The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo
So,I think that means I prefer the cool/epic titles to the funny ones.Okay:
All Hell Breaks Loose
Abandon All Hope
The Song Remains the Same
Hi, I see we picked the same ones today. :)
ReplyDeleteChanging Channels was just great and I must say that one of my favourite moments was before the TV part started with the Incredible Hulk, and that it wasn't any old Hulk, but the Lou Ferrigno one!
Then Sam goes to investigate and finds a hulk-sized hole in the woman's house. Too cute!
That was just an anticipation to the whole so funny, ep; and what an ending too!
I liked Twihard as I am not a fan of vampires, and seeing Dean take them all out was liberating!
However I like all of season six.I think it has been greatly undervalued.
It has some terrific episodes.
Jus In Bello and Croatoan speak for themselves. Both well done, well thought out episodes.
In my language, 'jus' means something like 'gravy'. Somehow, I can't ever read the title without thinking of food...
ReplyDeleteEasy choices today.
ReplyDeleteChanging Channels. In my top five episodes. This is just and unbelievable, incredible and funny episode. The trickster is by far my fave non Winchester character and situation makes this episode an even bigger win. I loved every single second. Sex and violence isn't stand a chance.
Simon said. I really liked this episode. And I loved Andy. I wish we'd gotten to see more of him. The vampire episode was funny while it was insulting twilight but on the whole I didn't love it that much
Croatoan. Another brilliant episode. The virus was creepy. And SAMs dream. And not knowing who was infected. And dean not leaving Sam. And everything else. I loved the whole thing.
Jus in bello. In my opinion one of this shows best episodes. This one is also in my top five. It was just hands down awesome. Every minute. And Hendrickson was awesome. And this episode has one of my all time favourite lines: Hendrickson "I shot the sherriff" dean "but you did not shoot the deputy"
Fave title is very difficult to do right now. So many good ones. I'm gonna have to come back later and get the full list off imdb and try and find a top three
I found season 6 refreshing for the most part. We were done with the LamePocalypse and the concept of Eve as a villain was better than Weepy Lucifer. There were several really good episodes and RoboSam was fun. Mostly though we were done with Blood Addict Sam and his need for repentance. I only wish Dean had dropped the guilt too.
ReplyDelete"Round 1E - i think E stands for "easy"You may be on to something there because this was certainly the easiest one for me. I chose the same episodes. I hope that doesn't mean that people will find 1F to stand for Freaking Difficult.
ReplyDeleteBwah!!!! This makes me laugh out loud. I'll never read that title the same way again.
ReplyDelete..in my case all my picks dont have the support in this poll
ReplyDeleteI have nominated Repo Man, Let It Bleed and In My Time of Dying. The three titles in their multiple meanings have so much to do with the real content of the episode.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed at how Repo Man refers to so many levels ("repossession" of the bad guy and Sam, while the demon and Lucifer require back what they think is theirs, and also our coming back to some old time of the show, which gives us a nostalgic sight of the Impala and the Amulet, both of which we also want Dean to "repossess").
I also like the word play in Let It Bleed (let them be - L&B - by themselves, and let the terrible wound of their absence bleed).
And then In My Time of Dying applies both to Dean and John, because both face the last moments of their lives (in different ways), with the wrecked Impala being a symbol of that situation. In fact Death's Door is a complete parallell of that episode and also of its title, but in Bobby's episode 'doors' are very important, so I like this title too, it's just that there are only three slots for nomination.
As an aside (sorry for the off-topic), I recently realized that Dream a Little Dream of Me has also a lot of parallels with Death's Door. Bobby is in peril of dying and his conscience is in a dream, remembering he killed his wife (instead of his dad). In that episode (3.10) he got Dean's help instead of Rufus' help (7.10) and there are also a lot of important doors.
I had a hard time too. I would find myself automatically going past a title and then having to go back and really read just the title. Some of these are just physically hard for me to type into a nomination form.
ReplyDelete"
ReplyDeletethe title of that ep has so much promise and the execution just didn't get anywhere close."
Perhaps this is the heart of my problem with that episode. I went in with such high expectations that by the time Dean was puking jell-o shots, I was so disappointed I was numb. That title demands snark by the ton and a lot of word play. It had neither.
Richard Speight Jr. has the Mark Sheppard effect. I see his name and my day is automatically brighter. Heck the man makes me like commercials. That must be a Trickster thing.
ReplyDeleteThe mytharc episodes are definitely getting a lot of deserved love in this round. These are some of the most classic episodes. I have no idea how they all ended up in the same bracket.
ReplyDeleteAs for the episode titles, I still haven't narrowed it down. It will probably be a last minute thing for me.
That can happen a lot when so many people speak different languages. :)
ReplyDeleteI can see how "jus" could be interpreted as "juice" and therefore as gravy too!
I myself don't speak English on a daily basis as everyone around me speaks Italian and I find myself at times forming my sentences as they would be written in that language, however I just love the wealth of different languages that there are all around the world.
It's another example of the capacity of our brains to learn all and everything. :)
I liked after the "How is that not rape-y" line, not long after he is doing the same thing to Lisa. lol
ReplyDeleteI see it often as Au Jus, which means "with juice". I think it is for people to lazy to thicken their roast gravy. lol
ReplyDeleteMy title votes go to
ReplyDeleteDark Side of the Moon
Plucky Pennywhistle's Magic Menagerie
The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo
But I also liked:
A Very Supernatural Christmas
Lazarus Rising
Abandon All Hope
On the Head of a Pin
The Monster at the End of This Book
Live Free or Twihard
How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters
Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid
No Rest for the Wicked
think jus in bello will do great in this competition
ReplyDeleteJust out of curiosity, are you going to start doing the recaps and reviews again for season 8. I know I for really miss them. HINT! LOL!
ReplyDeleteChanging Channels, Simon Said, Croatoan, Jus in Bello.
ReplyDeleteThe next round of this bracket is gonna be very very difficult!
ReplyDeleteWoooh those are some epic episodes! Changing chanel is in my top 5: Sam and Dean are so funny, and Gabriel!! \o/ Even Cass is awesome! It's just so symbolic of Supernatural: fun, hunt, angels, destiny...
ReplyDeleteCroatoan, OF COURSE! It's another beautiful episode again.
Simon said. Well, I hate Simon but it's nearly the first time we had info about Sam.
Jus in bello: I love Enriksen and he's awesome in this episode. Plus, Sam and Dean (again XD) who are awesome too (well, everybody's awesome when I'm talking XD)
hello i had a idea for a poll the best funny scene in one episode example..THE PLUCKY CLOWN EPISODE....the LAST SCENE..when dean saw sam cover in sparkles, dean burst of contagious laughs & the clown blinking eye.
ReplyDeleteI laughed so hard when Dean asked the wife if there was any reason that Lou Ferrigno would be angry with her husband. That Hulk interrogation scene was so funny (and reminded me of the scene in Fallen Idols when the guys ask the two young girls if there's a reason Paris Hilton would kidnap their friend). Ah - great episode!
ReplyDeleteI also loved Dean's slaughter of the Vamps in Twihard! Badass Dean (even when he's a vamp) is my favorite flavor. :D
I need distance from season 6, I think, to appreciate it. It's still too soon and I still have bitter feelings about the meandering route it took. But I do agree, there were some great episodes, but also many middling to bad ones.
Thanks for the kind words. I really appreciate them. Recaps take me about 6 hours to do. Last year I changed jobs so I didn't have as much time and people were getting pretty negative around here so I switched to doing short takes instead. I also did a running commentary on Twitter during the episode which was a lot of fun for me because there was instant feedback.
ReplyDeleteMy plan, once I finish doing all the quotes, is to alternate between doing recaps and short takes, hopefully having all the season 7 episodes recapped before the summer ends. As for season 8, I will definitely do short takes of the episodes and I hope to recap most episodes. It will really depend on my job and the STV climate. However I will definitely recap the premiere and I will be posting my "What I Want to See in Season 8" article in August or September. I expect most people to disagree with it. :-P
Sorry to hear that. Usually that's my dilemma. I swear I have the opposite tastes of most of this fandom. Today I'm in sync but normally - no.
ReplyDeleteI know I want Dean to "repossess" the amulet and I loved the Impala coming back. She better not be sidelined again. If Dean can't drive her in Purgatory, Sam better be driving her trying to get Dean out.
ReplyDeleteI never noticed that the main letters in Let it Bleed are L and B. That's kind of interesting. I doubt it has any significance whatsoever but interesting.
It's been amazing during this rewatch to find quotes just how many parallels I am finding between past and more recent episodes. Some work well; others fall flat but there are a lot out there. I think there is a good discussion in that idea. Maybe we can do that as an article sometime.
My prediction is that it loses in the third round but that was a very iffy prediction. I would be good if it won the whole thing to be honest. A top notch episode.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of awesome to talk about with these episodes. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou didn't like Andy in Simon Said? Mind if I ask why?
Do you get any benefit out of all this efforts? Or is this just out of loyalty for Supernatural? None of my business, but I would really like to know, what drives you to do all this service?
ReplyDeleteBut, I gotta thank guys like you, for making this show look huge on internet, if not on TV.
I didn't notice this when I met you on TVBTN, but now I really find our tastes matching, actually, a lot. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, the line about why Hulk would have it in for her husband was hilarious and I also especially loved Sam as Kit; he was so sweet.
ReplyDeleteThe Dean I like 100% best is when he's dark, daring and dangerous to know, and of course when he's in protect Sammy mode too. :)
I liked season six the first time I saw it possibly because Swan Song had left me so upset that seeing the brothers together again made me appreciate it all the more.
For polls, I get to make my hellatus feel shorter by talking about my favorite show with like minded people. I'd go stir crazy with hellatus blues without it. For recaps and articles, I get to do some writing and debate my views with people all over the world with all sorts of opinions. Usually that's fun. Um, I get badge points for commenting. :-P Being on SpoilerTV, I occasionally get to see screeners and sit in on conference calls. Right now, I'm waiting for the Burn Notice screener to upload enough that the video isn't jerky. So far, it's really good.
ReplyDeleteMy preference is usually for snarky, action-oriented, brother-focused, entertaining episodes without excessive emo talkfests. I also like heavy mytharc episodes if they are not drowning in emoangst. The biggest thing we differ in though is that I very much enjoyed season 6 and especially 7. I did not enjoy midseason 4 or season 5 much so most of 6 and 7 was refreshing to me.
ReplyDeleteoh gosh - Badass Dean and Big Brother Dean are definitely the two best versions...though really, I just love Dean. ;) (and I gotta say I love the moments of protective little brother from Sam, too! I want more of those in season 8).
ReplyDeleteThat's why I was so upset with season 6!! lol! Swan Song left me gutted, but Exile on Main St. showed me a Sam that I didn't recognize and I was left without a real, proper, Winchester reunion (like the one we got in Lazarus Rising! So precious!). Like a Virgin kind of gave me what I had wanted to see back in Exile, but I had to wait 11 episodes to get there and it wasn't the same 'cause Dean already knew Sam was alive...yeah. I won't go on as I'll just get frustrated again, lol. As I said - it's still too soon for me to appreciate what they tried to do in season 6. But I'll get there! I hope! :)
Yeah, I understand how much effort it takes to do stuff like that, I use to have five podcasts and corresponding mini fan sites with them and then I got a new job and it all fell to pieces and their defunct now and most of them are off the air anyway but I am going to do a little something for Arrow. Well, I hope the atmosphere is conducive and positive for you to want to continue doing recaps and short takes, I really loved them and miss them.
ReplyDelete5 podcasts! Yikes! Did you ever get any sleep? Hats off to you.
