Supernatural - Ultimate Episode Round 1D - Polls

Jun 7, 2012

Round 1C is done and I'm still at 100% in predictions. Today will see that record tested big time since for the first time there is a poll I am unsure about. As for yesterday, it was basically a blow out for all the winners. Moving on to round 2 are Mystery Spot, The Man Who Would Be King, Devil's Trap, and On the Head of a Pin. Leaving the contest are Ghostfacers, You Can't Handle the Truth, Are You There God? It's Me Dean Winchester, and Mommy Dearest. The closest contender was Are You There God? It's Me Dean Winchester with 36.5%

We are moving right along in our quotes nominations. Today is Houses of the Holy and Born Under a Bad Sign. Below is a link to the season 1 and 2 quote nomination forms so feel free to nominate your quotes for past episodes at any time. However, tomorrow we will take a little break from quotes because I need to watch all of season 7 in 2 days for the podcast. Tomorrow we will be nominating our favorite episode titles. This in no way means that you think the episode was good. Just that you liked the title. In fact, some of my least favorite episodes have the greatest titles. Unlike the quotes nominations, the episode title nomination will open tomorrow and then close after a week. I hope everyone finds this a fun little break. Now on to the show. Happy voting and don't forget to leave a comment below.

  1. 1.  Swan Song - I'm not a huge fan of Swan Song although I liked it a lot more than the other emoangsty, little action episodes.  I'm just really not a fan of The Real Ghostbusters.  I predict Swan Song by a landslide in this one.

    2.  The Man Who Knew Too Much - This was a fantastic finale.  Lots of action.  Both brothers had a role to play.  Sam's declaration that he wasn't leaving his brother out there was perfect.  The mystery of what was going on with Sam was well-played.   All around exactly what a SPN finale should be.

    3.  I'm struggling with this one.  I thought Abandon All Hope was a beautiful episode with great guest stars and one of the most touching scenes in all of TV.  However, I adored The Kids Are Alright with the introduction of Lisa and Ben and most importantly, a welcome return to scary Supernatural.  Those changeling kids were downright creepy.  I hate that these two episodes are against each other and will probably end up voting for whichever one is losing (read TKAA).

    4.  My Heart Will Go On - I thought Balthazar was at his best in this episode and the Ellen and Bobby scene was one of the best emo scenes in all of season 6.  It was touching and bittersweet without getting too sappy.  It was great seeing Ellen back again and the brothers were in sync.  I also adored the brothers having a family  even if it were only for a little bit in an alternate world.

  2. Swan Song - Gets my vote by default because of its competition but its a decent episode anyway.
The Man Who... - Neither shows in this match-up are all that spectacular but this one is better.
Abandon All Hope - Darn good episode.  Kids was a so-so episode with a few memorable moments.
My Heart Will Go On - Both shows in this match-up are quite solid but Heart is a personal favorite so this particular vote is not an objective one and I don't mind saying so.

  4. Oooh, a tougher one! I went with The Real Ghostbusters - not a fan of either of those episodes, but funny Chuck wins for me EVERY. TIME - and The Man Who Knew Too Much: that one because of reasons. Reasons such as the inside of Sam's head, so far the last time we've seen the amazing Balthazar, Castiel being badass, Crowley and Raphael, Castiel going one step too far.

As for the rest... Abandon All Hope, obviously, because CROWLEY. Also Castiel chatting up Meg and then using her as a bridge, Lucifer being all big-brotherly with Cas and pointing out their many similarities. That episode is on my TOP10 list. The last was the toughest as I really like both episodes. So, basically, it was the choice between young!Mary and young!John - and also Michael - and Balthazar being his adorable self and Cas doing shady stuff. As much as I LOVE Balthy, Mary and John win this one. The Song Remains the Same it is then.

  5. Houses of the Holy Quotes:

    12.  Dean:  "Look I'll admit.  I'm a bit of a skeptic but since when are you all uh Mr. 700 Club?  No seriously, from the get go you've been willing to buy this angel cr**.  Man, I mean what's next?  You going to start praying every day?"  Sam:  "I do."  Dean:  "What?"  Sam:  "I do pray every day.  I have for a long time."  Dean:  "The things you learn about a guy."11.  Dean:  "Okay, alright.  You know what, I get it.  You've got faith.  That's, hey  good for you.  I'm sure it makes things easier.  I'll tell you who else had faith like that, Mom.  She used to tell me when she tucked me in that angels were watching over us.  In fact, that was the last thing she ever said to me."  Sam:  "You never told me that."  Dean:  "What's to tell.  She was wrong.  There was nothing protecting her.  There's no higher power.  There is no God.  I mean there's just chaos and violence and random unpredictable evil that comes out of nowhere and rips you to shreds.  So you want me to believe in this stuff, I'm going to need to see some hard proof.  You got any?  Well I do.  Proof that we're dealing with a spirit."10.  Dean:  "Did you bring quarters?"  Sam:  "Dude, I'm not enabling your sick habit.  You're like one of those lab rats that pushes the pleasure button instead of the food button until it dies."  Dean:  "What are you talking about?  I eat."9.  Dean:  "Exactly.  That's one of the perks of the job Sam.  We don't have to operate on faith.  We can know for sure.  Don't you want to know for sure?"8.  Dean:  "Yep, Roma Downing made him do it."7.  Dean:  "Hey man, you've got to try this.  I mean there really is magic in the Magic Fingers."  Sam:  "Dean, you're enjoying that way too much.  It's kind of making me uncomfortable."  6.  Sam:  "A séance?  That's great.  I hope Whoppi's available."5.  Sam:  "Dean, there's 10 times as much lore about angels as there is about anything else we've ever hunted."  Dean:  "Hey you know what?  There's a ton of lore on unicorns too.  In fact, I hear that they ride on silver moonbeams and they shoot rainbows out of their a**."  Sam:  "Wait, there's no such things as unicorns."  4.  Dean:  "OK Ecstasy Boy maybe we'll get you some glow sticks and a nice Dr. Seuss hat."  3.  Sam:  "So no disturbances lately."  Gloria:  "You mean am I stark raving cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs?"  2.  Sam:  "Dude, alright, I'll admit we've gone pretty ghetto with spell work before but this takes the cake.  I mean a SpongeBob placemat instead of an altar cloth."  Dean:  "We'll just put it SpongeBob  side down."1.  Dean:  "Well hey Sam.  I think I found it.  It's a sign from up above.  Well I think I learned a valuable lesson.  Always take down your Christmas decorations after New Year's or you might get filleted by a hooker from God.  Heh."

  7. how the person in charge of these poll will find the final winner.. you know how many quotes he or she read ..imagine process all the info..that will give me a headache

  8. Pretty easy. 1. Swan Song. The Real Ghostbusters had it's moments but it wasn't one I'd rank very high. 2. Toss up. TMWKTM wasn't one of my favorite finales, but it had a lot of action. Shadow had a good story and I loved John popping up. The reunion was well played. 3. Abandon All Hope. One of the best death scenes ever. 4. The Song Remains the Same. Loved young Mary. And Dean and Sam dealing with mom and Dad as well as Anna was memorable.

  9. Born Under a Bad Sign Quotes:

    15.  You know when people want to describe the worst possible thing, they say it's like hell.  Well there's a reason for that.  Hell is like uh…well it's like hell even for demons.  It's a prison made of bone and flesh and blood and fear.  And you sent me back there."14.  Dean:  "Sammy?"  Sam:  "Did I miss anything?"13.  Dean:  "God, you're a butcher."  Jo:  "You're welcome."  Dean:  "Alright are we done?"  Jo:  "Would you give me 2 minutes to patch you up?  You can't help Sam if you're bleeding to death."  12.  Dean:  "That's holy water you demonic SOB."11.  Dean:  "You know I've tried so hard to keep you safe."  Sam:  "I know."  Dean:  "I can't.  I'd rather die."  Sam:  "No.  You'll live.  You'll live to regret this."10.  Dean:  "Oh please tell me you didn't steal this."  9.  Dean:  "You checked in 2 days ago under the name Richard Sambora.  Of course I think the scariest part about this whole thing is the fact that you're a Bon Jovi fan."  8.  Dean:  "Holy..Either this guy's a Unabomber..."  Sam:  "Or a hunter.  Dean, I think I killed a hunter."  7.  Sam:  " He…he kind of thinks you're a schoolgirl you know.  I'm not trying to hurt you Jo.  I'm telling you cuz I care."  Jo:  "That's real kind of you Sam."  6.  Dean:  "You never told me this."  Sam:  "I didn't want to scare you."  Dean:  "Well, bang up job on that."  5.  Dean:  "Sam, when dad told me that I might have to kill you, it was only if I couldn't save you.  Now if it's the last thing I do, I'm going to save you."  4.  Bobby:  "A little holy water in the beer.  Sam never would have noticed.  But then you're not Sam, are ya?.  Don't try to con a con man."3.  Dean:  "This guy?"  Clerk:  "What?  Am I speaking Urdu?"  2.  PossessedSam:  "Dean, back from the dead.  Getting to be a regular thing for you isn't it?  Like a cockroach."  Dean:  "How about I smack that smart a** right out of your mouth."  PS:  "Oh careful now.  Wouldn't want to bruise this fine packaging."  1.  Sam:  " My daddy shot your daddy in the head."

  10. Ha!  I doubt many people are voting objectively.  I am very surprised that you love My Heart Will Go On and The Song Remains the Same given that one is an alternate universe story and the other is a time travel episode.  I thought you couldn't stand those.  Looks like we are voting the same this time.  That's very rare.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I voted for Swan Song, Shadow, Abandon All Hope, and The Song Remains The Same.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Easy for me.

Swan Song, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Abandon All Hope (a favorite of mine), and The Song Remains the Same (another fav, Young Mary and John + time travel!).

Love Shadow and My Heart Will Go On too, but up against the other episodes it was clear for me which to choose.

Swan Song had to be the easiest. Love that finale, and The Real Ghostbusters is on my non-existant worst episode list. It is at least in the top 5 if not top 3 worst for me.

    ReplyDelete
  13.  I like "My Heart..." because it's goofy as hell without purposely trying to be so funny.  When SPN tries to specifically make a "funny" episode it usually falls flat with me but this one is just naturally amusing.

As for "The Song Remains..." I wouldn't say I particularly like it, it's just that as a story there isn't anything glaringly wrong with it.

  14. In all honesty, I'm not quite sure how I am going to run it.  It seems like people tend to favor season 1 quotes so I'm torn between two ways of doing it.  We'll either do it by season first and then everything as a whole or we will do it by straight nomination.

    ReplyDelete
  15. That is a very quotable episode. Loved Bobby's "don't try to con a con man" and Meg possessing Sam saying "My daddy shot your daddy in the head" was really creepy.

  16. Pretty easy decisions for me today.

Swan Song - no contest against this one for me, for quite awhile. This is in my Top 10. I adore it. And my heart breaks. But I adore it.
Shadow - I prefer Shadow over the season 6 finale. I know Shadow won't win which is fine because I'm okay with either winning. The Man Who Knew Too Much was good - but again, the bad taste left in my mouth from the majority of the season colored my view of this. It's a good finale, but I think it's the worst of all the finale's.

The Kids Are Alright - This was the only contest that gave me pause. But ultimately I prefer The Kids Are Alright because I totally dig the Dean and Ben dynamic. And I liked Lisa. I do really, really enjoy (as much as one can enjoy) Abandon All Hope.

The Song Remains the Same - LOVE THIS EPISODE. I love it. I hate that Anna's character is ruined as I liked her, but this was a pretty important season 5 myth-arc episode as we finally "hear" from Michael. I just love young John and Mary (and "old" John and Mary too!). As for My Heart Will Go On? My voting trend will likely be voting for almost any episode above something from season six (save a handful of exceptions). Do not like this episode really. At all. It's nice to see Ellen again, but...no.

  17. Swan Song - Although my opinion of it has soured, its still a great episode.

The Man Who... - You know me. You know why. Im not leaving my brother alone out there.

Abandon All Hope- Pretty emotional AND action packef AND Crowley.

The Song Remains the Same - Im a big fan of the terminator movies, so...yeah.

    ReplyDelete
  18. That line, "You know why..." is undoubtedly the very best thing in that finale. I do love that moment (even if I chose Shadow over TMWWBK).

  19. SS /TRG
I always like to cast my vote but as I don't like any of these two episodes for completely different reasons, I'm not going to.
    X
    X
    TMWKTM / Shadow
I voted for Shadow. I enjoyed the episode.  Meg's interaction with the boys was well done and it was nice to see Sam saving them all with his quick thinking in the end.
    X
    X
AAH and TKAA were both good episodes but completely different in content. I voted for Abandon All Hope in the end.
No-one can rest indifferent at the deaths of Ellen and Jo although I always felt they were sacrificed for nothing in the end, but whatever.
I loved the part where we get to see Crowley and he hands over the Colt, and also the brothers' encounter with Lucifer, where Sam starts to realise that it's not going to be quite so easy to avoid what's in store for him.
I think I'm going to go for this episode, made even more appealing as  it came after TRG which I loathed.
It's not an episode I would watch if I was in a depressed mood however.
    X
    X
    TSRTS/ MHWGO.
I liked both these episodes, so I'm torn here, But I vote for The Song Remains The Same

In TSRTS I loved the back story, as I do any episodes that deal with the past of the Winchesters.
Sam got to see his Mom and got murdered again, this time by Anna.
I liked that we got to hear Michael's side of things through possessing young John, and the family together in the car with the "kids" in the back was sweet.
Then it was quite creepy to see the beginnings of John's future hunting obssession kicking in.
    MHWGO
Here we get to see the lengths that Castiel will go to to get his hands on 50,000 souls by manipulating people's lives and getting his friend Balthazar to give him a hand, a friend that he would treacherously kill not much later.
However the story was cute with Fate trying to put things right; as were Ellen and Bobby together, and for Bobby anyway, the ending was bittersweet.

  20. At this point I spent most of my polls here going against the tide.  The only time I was with the current majority it was because I was voting against The Kids are Alright rather than voting for either of the two eps.

    The Real Ghostbusters
    Shadow
    Abandon All Hope
    My Heart will Go On

  21. Easy choices for the most part.

Swan Song - While I don't consider it the best finale, like many people do,it was a very good episode. The cemetery scene was beautiful and heartbreaking. And it had the Rock of Ages scene!
The Real Ghostbusters, while it can't compete, was a fun episode and it had Rob Benedict.

The Man Who Knew Too Much - And that's how a finale should be done!I loved everything that took place in Sam's head and most of all his epic line, "I'm not leaving my brother out there alone".
And,of course, the ending, which left us picking our jaws off the floor.

Abandon All Hope - Shame about The Kids are Alright, but Abandon All Hope is in my Top 10.Simply amazing episode, with one of the most heartbreaking death scenes I've ever seen.

The Song Remains the Same - This one was a little harder. My Heart Will Go On is also a very good episode but I simply adore The Song Remains The Same. The guest stars,Sam meeting his young parents, the scene with Michael(Matt Cohen was awesome) and the creation of Team Free Will.

    Quotes

    Houses of the Holy:
    - Sam: "Wait. There's so such thing as unicorns?"

    - Dean: "Let me guess, now you wait of some divine bat signal?"

    Born Under a Bad Sign:
    - Bobby: "A little holy water in the beer.Sam never would have noticed. But you're not Sam,are you?Don't try to con a con man."

    - Dean: "You never told me this."
Sam: "I didn't want to scare you."
Dean: "Bang up job on that."

  22. Well, today is definitely easier than yesterday.

    1.  Swan Song - might not be my favourite season finale, but it's still undeniably better than The Real Ghostbusters. I love the story of the Impala in the background of this episode. I love the scene when Sam says yes to Lucifer. I still find the ultimate battle unimpressive, but it also has its moments. The ending is great.

    2. The Man Whe Knew Too Much - great stuff, Sam recollecting his memories in his mind, Balthazar joining team Winchester just to be killed moments later and finally the soul-juice crazy, creepy Castiel declaring himself a God. And of course the ever-entertaining Crowley.

    3. The Kids Are Alright - it loosing might have been predictable, but I didn't expect it would be loosing so badly! I don't wanna loose an episode this great this early. Especially that it goes against the riddiculous Dean/Jo idea reloaded. Seriously, even if it's a good episode, I cannot tell, cause the Dean/Jo stuff concealed the rest of it for me. I've never even rewatched it, I cringe too much on that idiotic "love" tension and the kiss between those two. I was actually relieved she died, so I could be free of this nonesense forever. I only felt sorry for Ellen. The Kids Are Alright, on the other hand - great stuff. The changelings were creepy, Ben was adorable, Dean was funny, Lisa was great. Also, Sam found out Ruby was a demon.

    4. My Heart Will Go On - because I hate the other one. It's like In The Beginning 2.0 and I find it completely pointless. Also hate what they did to Anna's character in this episode. My Heart Will Go On, on the other hand, has an interesting storyline of how tiny things could change if Titanic never sank. Loved Balthazar, of course.

  23. Easy for me today, since Swan Song is my favorite ep...so far.
The Man Who Would Be King is also on my top 5 list, love my favorite Angel.
Abandon All Hope is epic SPN to me and losing Jo and Ellen broke my heart.
The Song Remains The Same, I love the going back in time for a redo and the young John and Mary were perfect.

I loved this episode. It was just so prophetic and we find out lots of thing, like Sam prays and Dean doesn't believe in angels. Unfortunately they turn out to be real and more dicks than demons are!
I love both oof these quotes.
    X

Dean: (on Angels) Because there's no such thing, Sam.

Sam: Dean, there's ten times as much lore about angels as there is about anything else we've ever hunted.
Dean: Yeah, you know what? There's a ton of lore on unicorns too.
In fact, I hear that they, they ride on silver moonbeams, and they
shoot rainbows out of their ass.

Sam: Wait, there's no such thing as unicorns?
    X
Dean: There's no higher power, there's no God. There's just chaos
and violence, random unpredictable evil, that comes outta nowhere, rips
    you to shreds.
    X
    X
    Born Under a Bad Sign.
I just love it when Dean says that first quote to Sam. So beautiful a moment.
The other one I like because it's cute and lightens the atmosphere at the end.
    X
Dean: Sam, when Dad told me I might have to kill you, it was only
if I couldn't save you. Now if it's the last thing I do, I'm gonna save
    you.
    X
Dean: Dude, you like full-on had a girl inside you for like a whole week. That's pretty naughty.

  26. 1 - Swan Song.  It was painful but powerful.

2 - undecided. Being a bit of a Sam girl I really want to love TMWKTM, but there was something missing with that episode.  Just talking about the Sam part here, it felt like it was flash with little substance.  I loved the music and the way it was tied into Sam's mental journey, and the smell of whisky and Old Spice.  But we didn't learn anything new about Sam, and in the end the experience really didn't change him.  After taking in RoboSam and HellSam, he woke up the same Sam we'd been seeing for a while.  As for Cas in that episode, it moved the story forward, but it wasn't the Cas I know and love.  On the other hand, I really loved Shadow.  I liked the scariness of the monsters, the interactions with Meg, and the reunion with John.  I think I learned more about Sam from the family interactions than from TMWKTM.

3 - Abandon All Hope.  That episode has a lot of great parts - the intro of Crowley, the Ellen/Cas shots, the Dean/Jo flirting, the Reapers, the Cas/Lucifer/Meg interactions, and of course the big Ellen/Jo death scene.  The Kids Are Alright was good too.  The kiddie monsters were creepy and this was before Lisa and Ben got annoying.  But AAH was better.

4 - My Heart Will Go On.  I thought Cas, Balthazar and Fate stole the show in this one.  The Song Remains the Same isn't a favorite, in part because it's the second time we saw young Mary and John (not as exciting as the first time), and also because I didn't like what they did to Anna's character.  I also didn't like how dumb they made Sam look when he met his mother.

  28. swan song
the man who knew too much
    abandon all hope
last one is a tie. Don't even remember what a voted for :-)

Kind of a meeeh poll for me, except for "abandon all hope"
AAH was an Absolutely awesome episode. The tense face off between Cas & Lucifer, the shock of and despair when the bros realize the colt was useless ... loved particulary the subjective camera showing us what Cas sees (the reapers).
And, last but not least, Jo and Ellen deaths : Except for the bro's "deaths", I think it's the only time I truly cried watching SPN, It was an amazing, emotional scene.

Swan song had great bros moments (and another Cas sacrifice for them); but the face to face between lucifer and michael kinda felt flat for me.  I  think the actor who played Michael didn't expressed angelic power and magnificence, the way Mat Cohen did in the song remain the same.
IMO, They should have brought back young john winchester to play michael.

  29.  Please vote for The Kids. I hate how it's losing by such a huge margin, like it was some crappy stuff, Bugs style. If it has to go down, it should at least put on a decent fight.

  30. Well, I've misse the first few days of this competition (which I was very excited for) but I've been out of Internet range this week. Excited to join in from now though!
Quite a few episodes I really like in this round.
Sean song. A great season and would be series finale. I also enjoyed the real ghostbusters but it can't compare at all to Sean song. Just an epic episode

The man who knew too much. Another great finale and I don't think shadow comes close at all. My fave part of the man who knew too much was all the stuff in sans head. I thought it was done so well and it was just nice to see a bit of Sam after so muchdean and cas all season. And that ending was a jaw dropper.

This waste toughest one at first look because I love the kids are all right. But thinking about it, abandon all hope is amazing. It's in my top ten episodes. Every minute is just itense and awesome. From Ellen and Jo to cas and lucifer to Sam and lucifer to dean shooting lucifer. It was a perfect episode.

This was also tough because while I like both episodes, I don't love either of them. I went with my heart will go on. I enjoyed Balthazar in it and it moved the story a bit forward and watching Sam and dean try to avoid Faye was funny. I just wasn't a big fan of the way fate was done. I thought the character didn't really seem like she was, I dunno, fate. Kinda like how all of the random Angels we meet just act like annoying whining people rather than soldiers of god. I didn't like the characterization of fate so that kinda put me a bit off the episode. But I liked the rest.

Very excited for best name contest. I think that will be really fun. I love how you never run out of ideas to keep us entertained. It's amazing and makes this hellatus bearable.

Also, I love the unicorn quote. I rewatched plucky penniwhistle the other day and te unicorn with rainbow out its a** made me laugh

  32. I did vote for The Kids are Alright.  I love that episode from start to finish.  I love Abandon All Hope in spurts.  Plus of course TKAA is losing which meant I couldn't let it go unrecognized.

  33. I have to say I am more surprised by this poll round than any of the others before it.  I expected the second one to be winning by a greater margin and the last one to be much closer.

Normally the concept of almost the whole episode taking place in Sam's head would bother me, but I think it was brilliantly done.  This was my favorite Sam episode of season 6.  I loved the idea of confronting his own demons to wake him up instead of having to confront demon demons to do it.  In general I really loved that season finale and am puzzled why people did not think it was a strong episode.

  36. I am finding that most episodes, even ones I don't really like, are still good on snarky dialogue.  This episode is completely meh for me but "fileted by a hooker from God" because you didn't take your Christmas decorations down is beyond awesome.  It's one of my favorite quotes in season 2.

  37. I liked John best in Shadow and AHBL2, but overall the Weepy Winchesters (and an out-of-character Dean for the sake of a line twice) colored my view of Shadow and made it more meh for me.  Too bad because it had some really awesome scenes.

  38. I loved how smart Bobby was.  It was great foreshadowing for other episodes like when Sam is trying to kill him but his house is boobytrapped.

  39. Real Ghostbusters is on my very existent worst episode list, mostly because I'm not usually a fan of meta episodes, I think Chuck was a horrible addition to Supernatural, and it had the annoying Becky.  Even the case was kind of blah.  Swan Song is not on my best list but it was better than this.

  40. I'm curious as to why you think TMWKTM was the worst of the finales.  Is it mostly because it comes from season 6 or do you have major issues with it?  I thought it was on par with all the others and better than Swan Song.  Of course that is a very minority opinion.

  41. Crowley makes everything better.  His introduction made me laugh ("How about you don't miss!") and made we want to see him again.  So glad they kept him coming back.  I liked how Abandon All Hope did a great job of combining action with drama.  Until it got to Lucifer, I was really enjoying the episode.  Then it went downhill fast.

  42. I think what is surprising me most in this contest is the love for The Song Remains the Same.  It didn't fare as well last year if I remember correctly and it's not an episode a lot of people talk about when they are mentioning great episodes.  It will be the first episode to ruin my 100% prediction record.  I'm sure it won't be my last.

  43. Ha!  I'm glad you weren't voting against TKAA.  It's one of my favorites.  I can see voting against ELaC though.  Those Medford kids were idiots and their parents weren't much better.  Stranger Danger folks!

  44. So happy to see someone who also thought TMWKTM was awesome.  I thought it was a strong finale too.  It had everything I wanted in a finale and was a great way to end the season - minus the fact that Baby got hit hard again.  For me it was one of the best of season 6 and I liked that season a whole lot more than most people.

  45. Swan Song. Because.

The Man Who Knew Too Much. We got to see a bit more of Soul-less Sam, which is always entertaining. And Misha was PERFECT. Cas' double-cross of Crowley was delightful, the gleam in his eyes when he takes out Raphael is subtle but chilling, and then his god-like serenity during his little "I was right and you were wrong" speech was creepy in a whole other way. Perfectly acted. (And I don't know how, but he manages to be creepy and sexy at the same time.)

Abandon All Hope. One of my all-time favourites. I could list all the things I love about this episode, but it would just be a list of every scene.

The Song Remains the Same. I HATE the character assassination of Anna. And I hate that she was killed. But I love getting to know young John and Mary a little better. The scene between Sam and John was really touching. And I loved meeting Michael. Also, the coining of "Team Free Will".

  46. I'm a big fan of well done time flux stories.  I think that is the reason why I thoroughly enjoyed Sliders (before the Kro-Maggs) and it's definitely a plus in My Heart Will Go On.  I also thought The Song Remains the Same was a little too second verse same as the first, the same problem I have with Playthings.  However, I'm going to have to rewatch that episode because it is getting far more love here than I ever expected.

  47. I think TMWKTM is one of Jared's finest work.  I was more impressed with RoboSam than Hell Sam, but of course that is because I missed RoboSam.  Still to watch his confusion about what was happening and then to confront 2 other versions of himself was powerful.  Major kudos to Jared for this episode.

  48. It surprised me how much the "I'm gonna save you" line affected me.  I found much of BUaBS too emoangsty for me but that simple statement touched me.  I think it helped that they let the statement stand on its own and did not follow it with endless conversation.  It made the quote so much more powerful to me.

  49. That unicorn line is pretty epic, especially since we saw the unicorn in Plucky Pennywhistle's Magic Menagerie.  I love when Supernatural takes a toss off line from seasons before and ties it in later.  Good continuity and an extra laugh to reward fans.

  50. Disqus generic email template...IMAGINE..how..tie will be the final round I am sure ..SWAN SONG..go to semifinal .

  51. I have Swan Song being beaten in the 4th round but it is one of my least confident picks of them all.  If I had my way, it would be beaten next round but that is never ever going to happen.

  52.  Swan song - a bit too depressing, but still way ahead of The real ghostbusters;
    Shadow - like both episodes, so i vote for the one that i think will not go through;
    The kids are allright - same situation as in poll #2 (the little girl asking for ice cream - sums up the reasons why i like this episode);
My heart will go on - just like it more, and the "I.P. Freely" made my day :)

  53. In Playthings I really don't care we already had a similar story, but maybe it's because I love the original one and I love the atmosphere both episodes create. I'm at peace with In the Beginning, but I'm not really a fan of it. I mean, it was interesting to see it was Mary who was a hunter first and how it all started, that episode explained quite a number of things. But I really didn't have to see young John and Mary again. Once was enough, once was cool. The second time around I had the impression they only made this episode so that Sam could meet the young Mary too (so he doesn't have to be worse than Dean on that one). Plus, like I said, Anna was really out of character in this episode and I really loved her in season 4.

  54.  I forgot about I.P. Freely! Made me love Balthazar even more! xD

  55. I'm opposite in that I like The Song Remains the Same better.  Still I see both of them as being largely a case of making sure Sam got what Dean got.  I guess that's why I don't really care for either of them.  I don't buy the everything has to be equal theory (although somethings need to come close) and both of them felt like pandering to that theory to me.  I never cared either way about Anna so her trying to take out Mary didn't bother me.  In fact, it seemed like a pretty good solution to her problem.

  56. In our Best Death contest, Ellen and Jo were second only to Dean being ripped apart by hellhounds in No Rest for the Wicked.  It was certainly one of the most powerful scenes in the series.

  57. Glad to have you back.  We've missed you.  There's a link above the first poll that will let you see what you've missed so far.  Not much.  Most polls in round 1 were blow outs.  I feel the same way you did about the two episodes in the last poll but not for the same reasons.  I liked Fate.

  58. I loved RoboSam too.  He was funny and had no guilt problem.  I think the Winchesters could use a little less guilt.

  59. That changeling asking for ice cream scared me.  The typical kid voice while dripping wet and you know she'd going to chomp down on mom so more later.  Ugh!  One of the few scary episodes we got after seasons 1 and 2.

  60. I suppose it really is partially leftover residual disappointment from the entirety of season 6 - but even though I think it's the weakest of the finales, it's still a pretty badass (but not as badass as Shadow) episode. It's certainly one of Jared's best performances on the show.

I have a huge love for Swan Song (as I mentioned above) and while Survival of the Fittest was no better than TMWWBK - the cliffhanger was far superior, so that places it higher on my list of finales.

  61.  LOL, I agree the boys could do with a little less guilt, but dang I love Dean when he gets the tears in his eyes..I melt, cry and sigh.

  62. I tend to be anti-emoangst but I'll admit, that One Perfect Tear sometimes does me in too.
