Supernatural - Ultimate Episode Round 1C - Polls

Jun 6, 2012

4 more episodes have made it to round 2, all easily. The closest vote was Scarecrow vs There Will Be Blood, the latter having less than 39% of the vote. So No Rest for the Wicked, Scarecrow, Bad Day at Black Rock (which got a whopping 89% of the vote), and Yellow Fever move on. We say goodbye to Time is On My Side, There Will Be Blood, Out with the Old (or the new in this case), and The Devil You Know. Prediction wise, I'm still at 100% and I don't think the next round will change that.

Today we have 2 of my favorite episodes and 2 of my all-time worse. I predict 3 of them will move on to the next round. Ghostfacers will say goodbye. So what is your choice? Happy voting!

  1. First 3 today are super easy.  The last one I remain undecided on until I
rewatch On the Head of a Pin.  Right now
I'm leaning towards Mommy Dearest for the awesome Samantha Smith scene, Dean's
brains, and Crowley at the end.

    1.  Mystery Spot -
Even if I didn't have Ghostfacers in my worst of Supernatural list, Mystery
Spot would win.  It is one of the best
episodes in all of SPN.  I love the humor
in the first half, the drama of the middle, and the brother hug at the
    end.  The Trickster twist was
perfect.  All in all an excellent
    episode.

    2.  You Can't Handle
the Truth - yeah, yeah I know.  What can
I say?  I find The Man Who Would be King
to be more boring than a 3 hour monotoned lecture with less action than a
monastery.  TMWWBK is on my 10 worst list
for committing the biggest SPN fan of boring me to tears.  On the other hand, You Can't Handle the Truth
had an interesting MotW, RoboSam snark, Bobby giving too much information, Dean
finding out the truth about RoboSam, and lots more.  Not the best episode but a whole lot better
    than the alternative.

    3.  Devil's Trap -
Again one of my all-time favorite episodes.
For the Meg exorcism, Evil John scene, and what the hell ending alone it
would get my vote.  All kinds of goodness
here.  I liked Are you There God?  It's Me, Dean Winchester but Devil's Trap was
    Kripke's first masterpiece.

    4.  Abstained for now.

  2. I voted for Mystery Spot, The Man Who Would Be King, Devil's Trap, and On The Head Of A Pin.

  3. I'd say you've chosen the winners again.  You're on a roll.

    ReplyDelete
  4. That's funny since I usually don't vote in polls. lol

  5. The same.

On The Head Of A Pin and The Man Who Would Be King are easily on my top ten episodes. TMWWBK is in my top 5.

  6. I'm in the minority. :-( Again ::sigh:: I loved Ghostfacers and putting it against Mystery Spot was quite a dilemma. OMG. But my dislike of all things Groundhog's Day prevailed. Although, I am still angry I had to choose. These polls are making me realize I like all the silly/funny episodes best.

  7. Are you sure these polls arent sponsored by my favourites?

Mystery Spot - #2 All time
The Man Who Would Be King - Top 20
    Devils Trap - Top 20
On The Head of a Pin - #3 all time

  8. Nightshifter Quotes:  Cannot overemphasize how excellent this episode is.  Truly top notch.

    17.  Dean:  "No, I just think it's a little creepy that how good of a Fed you are.  I mean come on, we could have at least thrown the guy a bone.  He did some pretty good leg work here."  Sam:  "Mandroid?"  Dean:  "Except for the mandroid part.  I liked him.  He's not that different from you and me.  People say we're crazy."  16.  Ronald:  "The thing I let into the bank wasn't Juan.  I mean it had its face but it wasn't his face.  Every detail was perfect but too perfect you know.  Like if…if a doll maker made it.  Like I was talking to a big Juan doll."  15.  Dean:  "You said we shouldn't bring guns."  Sam:  "I..I didn't know this was going to happen Dean."  Dean:  "Yeah just let me do the talking.  I don't think he likes you very much Agent Johnson."  14.  Dean:  "Hey buddy.  Why don't you just calm down.  Just calm down."  Ron:  "What?  You.  Get on the floor.  Now."  Dean:  "OK, we're doing that.  Just don't shoot anybody, especially us."13.  Ron:  "It's so..so weird.  Its robot skin is so lifelike."  12.  Sam:  "Help him manage?  Are you insane?"  Dean:  "Look I know this isn't going the way we wanted it to…"  Sam:  "Understatement."  Dean:  "Alright but if we invite the cops in right now, Ronald gets arrested.  We get arrested.  The shifter gets away.  We'll probably never find it again okay…Ron!  Out of the light."  Sam:  "Seriously."  Dean:  "Yeah Ron's game plan was a bad plan.  I mean it was a bit of a crazy plan, but right now crazy's the only game in town, okay."  Sam (deep sigh):  "Hi Ronald."11.  Dean:  "Well it looks like Mr. Okey Dokey's okey dokey."10.  Ron:  "Exactly. So see not..not just a robot but more of uh..uh..uh..a Mandroid."  Sam:  "A Mandroid?" ……Ron:  "You see he's got the laser eyes."9.  Sam:  "Great.  You know Dean, you are wanted by the police..."  Dean:  "Yeah."  Sam:  " So even if we do find this damn thing how the hell are we going to get out of here?"  Dean:  "Oh, one problem at a time.8.  Dean:  "Freaking cops."  Sam:  "They're just doing their job Dean."  Dean:  "No they're doing our job only they don't know it so they suck at it."7.  Dean:  "I'm not just going to walk in here naked."6.  Cop:  "Let me guess, you're lead dog now but you would just love my full cooperation."  Henriksen:  "I don't give  a rat's a** what you do.  You can go get a doughnut and bang your wife for all I care.  What I do need is your SWAT team locked and loaded."  5.  Dean:  "Is that community theater or are you just naturally that good?"4.  Dean:  "I like him.  He says okey dokey."  Sam:  "What if he's the shifter?"  Dean:  "Well, we follow him home.  Put a silver bullet though his chest plate."  3.  Dean:  "Yeah listen, I'm not really in the negotiating right now so.."  Henriksen:  "Good.  Me neither.  It's my job to bring you in.  Alive's a bonus but not necessary."  Dean:  "Whoa.  Kind of harsh for a federal agent don't you think?"  2.  Henriksen:  "Crazy's in there and I just hung up on it."1.  Dean:  "We are so screwed."

  9. Well I'm glad I spent a few hours (at work, coughcough) today on my first draft of my personal ranking of all the SPN episodes because I actually needed to consult it!

First poll was easy, as Mystery Spot is ranked #11 on my list right now (and unlikely to change. The top 15 are pretty solid). So it'll take something far better than Ghostfacers to make me vote against it. I didn't hate Ghostfacers, but it's such a waste of an episode in an already short season.

The second poll is where I had to consult my list. In my overall season 6 episode ranking I placed You Can't Handle the Truth over The Man Who Would Be King. Why? Because after an already frustrating season 6 the last thing I was interested in, this close to the finale, was an episode all about Castiel. The first half bored me, and not until the moment Dean figured out Castiel was lying was I interested. I liked the big confrontation at the end, but those few scenes do not best a pretty solid episode such as You Can't Handle the Truth - even though it features the unlikable (by me) Soulless Sam. I am certain my vote is not going to matter here, as already  The Man Who Would Be King is faaaar ahead.

Devil's Trap wins easy over Are You There God? It's Me, Dean Winchester, even though I really enjoy that episode. Devil's Trap, however, is an amazing finale!  Loved JDM as Yellow Eyes and I gasped out loud when Baby got smashed by the rig at the end. AWESOME.

Last one was also a tough call, because I like both episodes; but On The Head of a Pin won out in the end; it's in my overall Top 20 (as it stands right now). It's hard to watch Dean be emotionally tortured by Alastair - but that's also why I love it. I feel it's one of the most brilliantly acted episodes they've done. Mommy Dearest has some good scenes as well and it's among my Top 10 from season 6 - but even those rank FAR below my favorites and certain "really good" episodes from earlier seasons. Also, the whole Eve-angle was barely introduced before it was snuffed out here. I'm not sure if that was the intention all along but I felt slightly ripped off by the quick and dirty end. On the plus side? Crowley's reintroduction was awesome and I never saw it coming.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Agreed completely about The Man Who Would Be King. Boring. :-\ It'll win, even without my vote because everyone seems to revere it upon high.

Depending on your final choice, we might be in sync this particular round...

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm OK if The Man Who Would Be King wins this round.  I expect it to.  However if it wins in round two I'll be as close to devastated as I can get about a poll that has no real meaning.  :-)

  12. This is my favorite Playthings quote

Sam Winchester: [after Dean tells Sam about the next person who supposedly killed himself] Yeah I saw. Dean Winchester: We gotta figure this out and fast. What did you find out about granny? Sam Winchester: You're bossy. Dean Winchester: What? Sam Winchester: [says slowly] You're bossy... and short hahaha. Dean Winchester: Are you drunk? Sam Winchester: Yeah, so... stupid. Dean Winchester: Dude what are you thinking, we're working a case.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Sorry.  All episodes from the wild card polls will have it very tough in these polls.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Amazingly enough your favorites appear to be everyone else's too.  Looks like you are going to have a good run in these polls.  Much, much better than my choices will fair.

  15. Jefferson Starships - classic!  I agree that they needed to have done a better job developing Eve throughout season 6.  She was such an interesting character and she was wasted.  The simple fact that she could create different monsters gave them a vast story line they could have pursed. I guess the reason why I loved her death though is because we had spent the majority of the season with the Helpless Twins masquerading as Winchesters.  The Winchesters needed a win badly especially after that fiasco of an ending in Frontierland when they couldn't even pick up a jar in time.  To see Winchesters win by using their own brains and no one else swooping in to rescue them did my heart good.  It was exactly what I needed at the perfect time.  Of course that high was ruined in the very next episode when Cas swooped in and defeated all the big bad demons for them in 6.4 seconds.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Good choice - the "bossy and short" comment makes me laugh every time.  Definitely a high point in a meh episode.

    ReplyDelete
  17. On the Head of a Pin is definitely one of the best acted episodes.  The torture scene is intense.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Glad we're getting rid of Ghostfacers.  It doesn't stand a chance and I hate that episode with a passion.  Number one choices all the way down.

    ReplyDelete
  19. K.  Let's see...

    * Ghostfacers. --  I know....but nothing will stop my joy for this ep...I don't care if I'm the only person who voted for it.

    * You Can't Handle the Truth -- I don't really even remember which ep this was but I had such huge problems with the fundamental design and approach of The Man Who Would Be King that I simply couldn't vote for it.

    * Devil's Trap -- The first no brainer

    * On the Head of a Pin -- It was a flawed ep...but some good character stuff.  Mommie Dearest had a couple of bits but they were primarily plot points...in another season where the monster didn't wow me.

    ReplyDelete
  20. :-D  That's how I felt regarding the overwhelming lost Ghostfacers is looking at.

    ReplyDelete
  21. No worries. I'm realizing I'm more of a light-hearted type of Supernatural fan (which probably makes sense because I came over from Gilmore Girls), so I don't mind at all that the more serious, invested fans' favorites prevail.

  22. I liked Ghostfacers. ::chagrined::

  23. No and I won't.  Sorry.  This site had a bad habit this season of being overran with constant negativity.  It's one of the reasons why some really great people don't come to SpoilerTV anymore which saddens me.  I won't organize a poll that deliberately encourages hate, be it a brother war or episode.  Don't get me wrong.  I'm glad everyone is sharing their opinions on episodes here.  I tell it like it is when I loathe an episode and I hope others do too.  But these polls focus on what we consider the best of Supernatural for the most part and that I think lifts the fandom up as a whole instead of dragging it into pessimism and in-fighting, which is where this fandom tends to head during hellatus.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I tend to prefer the high action ones over the emotional ones.  That's why my choices rarely win too.  I'll be commiserating with you as we go along.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I hadn't considered it from that point of view.  I tend to stick to critical discussion and enjoy finding out what didn't work for people as much as what did.  It's helped me become a better writer.

You're right, of course,  I almost left the sight because some people were making personal attacks rather than simply offering up critiques.  I'd forgotten about that.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I can totally agree about seeing the guys get a win on their own. It was great to see Dean especially, using his noggin' to get them out of the tough spot. Having just watched The Usual Suspects last night, and seeing both Sam and Dean trying to "brain" the hunt even while in custody really made me sad that we haven't seen (since Mommy Dearest maybe?) the guys be smart in a very long time! I especially want to see more of smart Dean - as he is a smart guy. I guess in general I hope the guys get written smarter come s8!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Mystery spot - the Ghostfacers was not too bad for me, but it cannot compete against the Mystery spot;
    The man who would be king - a tough choice here, because i like both episodes in their own way, so it ended with the coinflip;
    Devils trap - simply stunning episode, especially the ending;
Mommy dearest - i know it will lose, and that is a sad thing, because i wish it had gone up against a weaker episode and gone a round further. I really like the On the head of the pin, but just as a consolation i wote for Mommy dearest.

    ReplyDelete
  28. We're going to get rid of several episodes I don't like in the first round.  Unfortunately, we are going to get rid of several I adore too.  That's the nature of the beast I'm afraid.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm glad you both liked Ghostfacers.  I always feel bad when an episode doesn't have someone defending it even if it's not my own personal choice.

I agree that Devil's Trap was a no-brainer.  I thought it would be winning by a few more percentage points to be honest although AYTGIMDW is a good episode too.  I won't miss having to type out that long title though if it does lose.  I say season 8 should bring back 1-2 word titles and stick with them.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Those of you who didn't vote for Devil's Trap. I just...

    ReplyDelete
  31. No contest here for me any way.
Mystery Spot is epic! What an episode!
It started off as a comedy and it evolved into Sam's personal Hell, and it did it so smoothly that the viewer didn't realise it until it had happened.
We were lulled by the fact that when Sam woke up and it was Wednesday, things had gotten back to normal but then we were hit with Dean's definite death.
Awesome (in a sad way of course )!
    X
In my opinion the Sam we get to see in those six months after Dean was killed in the car park was far, far colder and frightening that good old Robo-Sam.
This Sam was intact, soul and all and he was one scary Sammy!
All those who accuse Sam of not loving and cherishing Dean have just to watch the terrible, painful way he existed after Dean's death; obssessed by one thing only, capturing the Trickster and getting his brother back!
    X
As for Ghostfacers, When it came up on the dvd I thought "What the............!" and my opinion didn't change as I sat through this abomination of an episode.
    X
    X
    X
I vote, You Can't Handle the Truth.

I really enjoyed this episode. I liked the idea of everyone having to speak the truth and how Dean was happy about being infected as he could finally ask Sam some questions about himself and get truthful answers; but the best laid schemes don't always work out and Robo-Sam was able to resist the truth spell and lie just the same!
Then I liked Dean's conversation with Lisa and how he confirmed the tangled mixed up relationship he has with his brother, and Dean's sad expression when she doesn't understand the depth of it.
    X
I like Bobby but this was the second time in this season that he annoyed me.
The first time was when he didn't tell a suffering Dean that Sam had been out of the Cage for over a year, and here when he admits to his preference for Dean over his younger brother Sam.
Not nice. I'm just glad Sam didn't hear him.

However, I didn't really like Dean's reaction at the end. I get it that he was angry with Robo-Sam but it wasn't poor Sam's fault that he was pulled out without his soul; he was the victim in all of this.
Anyway, it's an episode I enjoy with plenty of tomato-ketchup- gore to satisfy!
    X
    TMWWBK
I'm just going to gloss over this episode otherwse I will write far too much. Suffice to say that when Sam asks if Cas brought him back soulless on purpose, Cas' denial was less than convincing for me and for Sam too obviously, as his eyes teared up in disbelief.
    X
    X
    No contest here either.
    Devil's trap all the way.
I remember being so happy that I already had the season 2 DVD in my hands and I wouldn't have to wait a year to find out what had happened to the Winchesters. :)
A great episode; Meg, the exorcism, the firemen, the cabin in the woods, Evil John, the brothers trusting one another and the crash. Wonderful stuff!
    X
"Are you there God? It's Me Dean Winchester."
We get to see some old faces but overall a rather boring episode for me. Too much talking.
    X
    X
    X
     Mommy Dearest gets my vote.
It  wasn't one of those memorable episodes but I enjoyed it, and the big reveal at the end with Crowley who has to clean up after Castiel's messes was super.
I even felt sympathetic towards Eve, perhaps it was because she had Mary's face!
    :)
I can understand those who consider "On The Head Of A Pin" a great episode, and it was, acting wise, as Alastair and Dean's interaction was great but I hate to see torture of any kind performed and I really hated Castiel here for forcing Dean to face Alastair who had been his personal torturer in Hell;  in the end Cas put Dean through all that pain for nothing, allowing Alastair to get free and nearly kill Dean through his negligence and disattention.
I cheered when Sammy arrived to save his brother and kill Alastair. Bad demon powers beat angel any day!

  32. We have some interesting polls today.

Mystery Spot - The Ghostfacers are currently keeping company to Amy as the story lines I never wanted to see on the show(which is a shame, cause liked them well enough in Hell House). And Mystery Spot is one of the best episodes of the series.Tough one...

The Man Who Would Be King - Also easy. The difference is,in this one I do feel a little bad about You Can't Handle the Truth which was also a pretty good episode. But I loved The Man Who Would Be King.Cas and Crowley scenes were amazing and the confrontation was as impressive as it was heartbreaking.
It also had a line that I think summed up the theme of the season pretty well.
Crowley: "You know the difference between you and me?I know what I am.The question is,what are you,Castiel? What exactly are you willing to do?"

Are You There God?It's me,Dean Winchester - And here's where things get tricky.Devil's Trap is an insane episode and I do want it to win.But at the same time I don't want Are You There God... to lose badly by it,cause I really, really liked it as well! So,it gets my vote.

Mommy Dearest - See my logic above? The exact same thing applies here.On the Head of the Pin is in my Top 10 but Mommy Dearest had an excellent twist in the end and some amazing moments.I'm sorry that it'll have to go.

    Quotes

    Playthings:
    - Sam: "You're bossy.And short."
(I'm pretty sure Jensen is still paying the "you're short" line!)

    - Dean: "That attitude is just way too healthy for me.I'm officially uncomfortable now.Thank you."

    Nightshifter(RONALD!THE ENDING):
    - Ronald: "This is not a robbery!Everybody on the floor, now!

    - Dean: "We are so screwed."

  33. Playthings. Not a stand-out episode but I enjoy it well enough.
    Quotes:-
    X
    Sam: You're bossy.

    Dean: What?!
Sam: You're bossy. And short... (chuckles)
    Dean: Are you drunk?

    Sam: Yeah! So? Stupid.
    X
Dean: You know, she could be faking.

Sam: Yeah, what do you wanna do, poke her with a stick? (Dean nods) Dude, you are not gonna poke her with a stick!
    X
    X
    Nightshifter.
I know this is a well-loved episode but I have never really warmed to it. I find it kind of boring.
The pluses for me are Ronald, Henriksen, and the ending although I don't consider it to be the best ending of all.
    Quotes:-
    X
Ronald: I knew it, as soon as you two left. You aren't FBI. Who
are you? Who are you working for, huh? The Men in Black? You working for
    the Mandroid?

Sam: We're not working for the Mandroid!
    X
Henriksen:  "Crazy's in there and I just hung up on it."

  34. I'm voting for mommy Dearest also, mostly for 3 reasons.  Mommy Dearest had good, funny plot and smart Winchesters, I don't have time to rewatch On the Head of a Pin, and I feel bad that Mommy Dearest is losing.  Completely agree about Devil's Trap by the way.

    ReplyDelete
  35. This one was easy. Mystery Spot is one of my all-time favourite episodes of Spn, so no real contest here. Devil's Trap for BOBBY and his first appearance, if I remember correctly. The Man Who Would Be King because it's hilariously heartbreaking. I had a tiny problem deciding between Mommy Dearest and On the Head of the Pin, but ultimately went with the latter; Castiel's first major episode and I can't forget that, no matter how much I honestly enjoyed Mommy Dearest.

  36.  my friend i am 100 percent agree about your post

    ReplyDelete
  37.  Good for you, I did not vote in the poll pitting Sam, Dean & Castiel against each other, I love them all.  The show would not be SPN without the brothers and most of my favorite eps have Cas in them.

BTW all my eps are winning today, still wish you would put season number after the ep.  Of course today it would not have been needed.

    ReplyDelete
  38.  I had to vote for OTHOAP because Alastair was the scariest of all the demons to me. Chris was awesome in this role, sorry he was killed.  Cas did not allow Alastair to go free, that was(heck it is to early in the morning and I have forgotten the bad angels name.)  Anyway this is one of my favorite eps, excellent acting by all involved.

  39.  Variety is the spice of life, so they say. :)

It's only normal that we all have different tastes.
If I'm not mistaken it was Uriel, the name you were looking for.

However Dean was doing this only because Cas asked him to, and it was Castiel's responsibility to keep him safe, something that he didn't do.

    ReplyDelete
  40. 1 - Mystery Spot.  Ghostfacers was a cute episode but Mystery Spot is in a completely different league.

2 - The Man Who Would Be King - This is one of my favorite episodes of the series.  I love a really strong character episode and Edlund and Misha did a fantastic job with the evolution of Cas's character.  It was heartbreaking, but I loved it.  And I also loved the Cas/Crowley dynamic.  YCHTT was one of the stronger episodes of the first half of season 6, but it had one big thing wrong with it - RoboSam - so it's an uphill battle for any episode from that period to win for me.

3 - I voted for Devil's Trap, but this was really a tie.  I liked both.

4 - On the Head of a Pin - This was a fantastic episode with lots of character depth, mytharc movement and soul.  Probably my favorite part of this was the Cas/Uriel/Anna storyline.  Loved Anna's line "there's still me" as she killed Uriel.  Also loved seeing Sam's powers storyline coming to a head as he killed Alistair.  The Dean torture scene was interesting.  We learned more backstory on what happened in Hell and that he was the first seal.  I didn't buy Dean as someone Alistair should be afraid of, but I was moved by the hospital scene at the end with Cas when Dean looks so broken.  Mommy Dearest was a also a great episode but it didn't have the same depth as OTHOAP.  There were funny lines, loved the Eve action, loved the music (I like '70s music), and I was fangirling Cas/Misha through the whole episode (loved his look at Crowley at the end), but it lost points for getting sidetracked in the middle with a soapy orphans detour.  It threw off the momentum and didn't add anything to the story.  That was also probably the first episode in which I was starting to get annoyed at Bobby's increasingly frequent presence on the show. Unlike earlier seasons when his character had a reason for being in the scenes he was in, his only point for being there was to replace Sam's role so that instead of Dean and Sam working the case, the dynamics were Dean and Bobby working the case, with Sam being the extra without contributing much.

    ReplyDelete
  41.  Yep, thanks, Uriel it is, old age is hell. lol

I do agree, Cas did not do a good thing with Dean, but(you knew I would have a but) ;) he thought the order came from the top.  This ep was when Cas started to really think about "free will".  And of course we know where that took him. lol  When Dean cries, so do I.

  44. Two of these are just too easy, while the other two pretty tough, especially for round 1.

    1. Mystery Spot - no brainer here. One of the best SPN episodes ever vs Ghostfacers, which I hate. Easy peasy.

    2. Though choice. I love both. Both are among my favourite season 6 episodes. Loved the tension of You Can't Handle the Truth and the brother drama at the end. TMWWBK is low on action, yes, but I kinda love the character insight of Castiel and the overall atmosphere of overwhelming sadness. Also, I've been a fan of Dean and Cas's friendship since season 4 and to see it collapse like this really got me. And it had some great Crowley stuff too. But for now, I really don't know what to vote for in this one.

    3. Another tough one, again, I love both. The best moment of Devil's Trap is possessed John torturing the boys and of course the cliffhanger at the end. Oh, and Sam's "not before everything" when he looks back at Dean, I always go awww at this. However, AYTG?IM,DW is an awesome episode too. Love the witnesses, like I already said, it let us see some great guest characters again. Love the big reveal about the Apocalypse and Lucifer, love Cas at the end. I'm torn here. Again, no vote for now.

    4. On the Head of a Pin - again, one of my favourite episodes of the entire series and one of those I've rewatched the most. While it does have a little bit too much angel only moments, the Dean torturing Alastair and then the Sam killing Alastair parts are pure perfection. Plus the growing bond between Cas and Dean and Cas's growing doubts. Love it big time. I like Mommy Dearest a lot too (Jefferson Starships!), but it's nowhere near OtHoaP for me.

  45. Welcome to SpoilerTV.  I'm really glad you shared tour thoughts with us.  Thanks for commenting.  Devil's Trap was indeed Bobby's first appearance.  I'm so glad they decided to have him keep coming back.  At times Bobby was my favorite character.

  46. While Ghostfacers is a very divisive episode, the real reason it is losing so badly is because Mystery Spot is on a lot of people's top 10 list.  If another episode was in the poll, I still think Ghostfacers would lose but certainly not be this much.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I figured you would have trouble with the third poll.  When I was filling out my brackets and saw those two against each other, the first thing I thought was, "What is Mia going to do with this one?"

    ReplyDelete
  48. Aw, you're not a be fan of Nightshifter.  That's one of my all-time favorites.  The introduction of Ronald with his mandroid theory and how chilling Henriksen was completely made the episode for me.  I loved the "Crazy's in there" line because it let me know that Henriksen was just a bit crazy in his pursuit too.  I always wondered how he explained away the shifter body to himself.  He obviously had to interview Sherry who would have told him she didn't have a twin.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I completely understand the vote for the underdog plan.  That's one of the reasons I ended up voting for Mommy Dearest too.  Oh and I never need to hear of Amy or the Ghostfacers again either.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I did vote for Devil's Trap and I did not hesitate to do so.  However, there are a lot of pluses to Are You There God?  It's Me Dean Winchester.  Namely all the great former guests we didn't think we'd see again.  Henriksen and Ronald Reznik are two of my favorite characters on them all so I was very excited to see them again.  A lot of people felt that way about blonde Meg too.  Usually I'm not a fan of when they resurrect dead characters because I think it cheapens death on the show, but in this case it really worked for me.

  51. Mystery Spot - for obvious reasons

The Man Who Would Be King - there is nothing I don't love about that episode. Getting to see what's been going on with Castiel. Cas!whump with Raphael. Cas' scenes with Crowley which were just aasdyviaweugvlegsbhiKEYSMASH awesome and wonderful. "I see the new god, and the new devil, working together-" "Stop. Talking. And get out of my sight." Just... so tense and sexy and fantastic. And of course all the Cas and Dean moments. Just, Cas' face when he's watching Dean... *squee* *sigh* And the ring of fire scene. I've watch the episode maybe seven times now, and it still tears my heart out. "Dammit Cas, we can fix this!" "Dean, it's not broken!" Oh god. So many emotions.

Are You There God? - Basically for the scene at the end. The first time I saw the episode it left me so intrigued and excited for the coming season.

On The Head Of A Pin - ANGELS! I love everything about the angels and this episode is really the one to thank for that. I love their relationships, their motivations, the way they look at the world - it's all so fascinating. I love all of them, even Uriel. I adore Anna's scenes with Cas. I love Cas' confrontation with Uriel. And Cas' scenes with Dean, and their developing friendship, and Cas' developing loyalty. And then Dean finding out that he broke the first seal. Possibly my #1 favourite episode.

  52. ...men you are AWESOME   (ups) i also receive and answer right now in your  tweet page wait a couple of second..GHOSTFACERS   a divisive episode,,MMMM  ..i dont share your opinion they wrote that to fill a MENTALLY BLOCK OUT in creativity that episode always loose but MYSTERY that episode was over the top of the word AWESOME..explore facts that both brother never want to accept (LOSING  SOMEONE YOU LOVE)..and live with it ,,thats way always made deal to save each other & ALWAYS..something bad happen when they did it.

  53.  Ronald and Hendriksen are the best things about the episode, as for me the part inside the bank went on a bit too long.
In and out of the vault, in and out of the rooms.
There was a lot of searching which I found a bit boring.

I think if they had let Ronald live a little longer, the episode would have been better.
In my opinion they killed him off too early.
Yes, the double body would have been a hard thing to explain away and it was never again mentioned.

I wonder if they did an autopsy on it
    Shifter DNA? :)

  54. Yeah, there have already been several that I really like that are gone. Oh well!  It actually takes a lot for me not to like an episode.  There are only a handful that I truly don't like.  I can't say that about very many shows.

    ReplyDelete
  55.  Thanks, that will be a big help to me.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Bobby was my favourite character until they've introduced Castiel. After that he was a close second and the two of them were the only reasons for which I continued to watch the show (plus the plot, obviously). I do hope - probably against all reason - that we'll see Bobby again.

  57. Mystery Spot, You Can't Handle the Truth, You Can't Handle the Truth, Mommy Dearest.

    Quotes:

    Playthings:
Dean: "How you feeling Sammy? I guess mixing whiskey and Jager wasn't
such a gangbuster idea was it? I bet you don't remember a thing from
last night do ya?"  Sam:  "Ah, I can still taste the tequila." Dean:
"You know there's a really good hangover remedy. It's a greasy pork
steak sandwich served up in a dirty ashtray." Sam: "Ah I hate you." Dean: "I know you do."

Sam: "You're bossy." Dean: "What?!" Sam: "You're bossy. And short..." Dean: "Are you drunk?" Sam: "Yeah! So? Stupid."

    Nightshifter:

Ronald: "This is not a robbery!Everybody on the floor, now!"

    Dean: "We are so screwed."

  58.  I have watched every season of SPN many times, but my favorites are the ones with Castiel.  He just has great chemistry with my favorite brothers.  He is not the only reason I kept watching, but he is a wonderful character.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I hear you.  Even the ones I don't like are usually better than most other TV.  There's always something I connect to which like for you doesn't happen to me in most show.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I agree Ron should have stayed a lot longer. He is one of my favorite one-shot characters...er two-shot I guess now.  I would love to know about the shifter autopsy.  It's skin was just coming off in Dean's hand so I wonder how they explained that even if the DNA didn't scream monster. When I used to watch NCIS things like this and leaving fingerprints behind everywhere really bothered me.  Actually the fingerprint thing is still a pet peeve.

  61. I'm not sure I understand what you are saying about Ghostfacers.  The reason I said it was divisive is because the fandom seems to be split about them.  Some people love them and find them funny.  Other people like me loathe them and think they are a waste of an episode.  Besides Castiel, Missouri, and Adam, I don't think there are characters on Supernatural that split the fandom as much as the Ghostfacers do.  They might even be at the top of the list.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Disqus generic email template..it was a funny episode but no memorable.

    ReplyDelete
  63.  Ha, I have a very different pet peeve, female cops or ME's that wear spike heels and want to chase someone or go to a crime scene and NOT gets those heels stuck in grass/dirt.  Tell me, do you think "real" ME's stand in those shoes all day and cut up dead people. lol  Body of Proof really gets me going. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  64.  I agree with you on Ghostfacers and Adam, but liked Missouri and you know me, I adore Cas.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Wow, that was easy. lol

Mystery Spot, The Man Who Would Be King, Devil's Trap, and On The Head Of A Pin.

Just finished my rewatch of Season 4. Onto Season 5 tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I don't know how anyone can come up with a top 20 list. I tried and I failed, lol. All I know is I tend to like main-arc stuff, action-packed, high emotions stuff, Dean and Sam and Bobby and Cas working together. That I like other characters like Rufus, John, Jody, Ellen, Jo, Gabriel, and Balthazar and others. That I like Death who is neither good or bad cause he's Death. Same for Tessa. That I like villains like Alastair, Lucifer, and the Alpha Vamp. That I actually didn't mind the Leviathan enemy, Dick was really great at the end as a foe.

I have too many favorite episodes. The comedies are a bit easier to work out (Changing Channels is my fav), because I find the comedies too silly most of the time or weird, but CC there was just something about it. Mystery Spot is right there too, but it's also so emotional I don't think it quite makes sense labeling it a comedy. Seeing Sam so messed up made me so sad. :(

But the drama-action packed and/or major shocker episodes like the finales and such are so hard for me. Love most of them so much.

Though I have labeled 5x18 "Point Of No Return" as my ultimate episode. I'm pretty sure about that- the rest is a mess. Loved so many others.

This poll of versus makes it easy to choose though.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Yeah, I really like Are You There God episode, but against a finale, it was a clear choice for me this time.

    ReplyDelete
  68. lol you know me so well ;)
well, the most probable way to deal with it is just to vote for the one loosing... which would be AYTG?IM,DW.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Yeah Uriel let Alastair go. I just watched the episode yesterday. lol

    ReplyDelete
  70. Yeah, OTHOAP was the first time Castiel started to really think about his orders and question them. He blindly followed before because he thought God was sending out the orders, even though he did not agree.

Disobeying took a lot of courage. In Heaven it's like a person going A-Wall from the army- worst, more like going A-Wall from Hitler's army. Very bad for him, as seen when he was forced to go back to Heaven (4x20) and they knocked "sense" into him. His superiors sense anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  71. They explain away cause people always do.

When someone doesn't believe in something it takes a lot for them to change their minds, real or fictional people alike.

They're blind to it because they want to be - either because they fear it's real, or because they fear believing it will make them crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yep, Bobby's first episode. :D

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'm the same. Pretty much all episodes with Cas in them are my favs (Not big on "The Children Are Our Future" or "The French Mistake").

I love it when Team Free Will works together, Bobby included (yeah, yeah, old term, but I still use it when taking about the brothers, Cas and Bobby working as a team). That was the best part about Season 5, and why I hold it so high, along with the fact the action that season was awesome. And I loved Lucifer as a villain.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Oh, Alastair wasn't scared of Dean (he liked taunting him to no end), but I'm sure it was still painful getting bags of salt down the throat. The torture was an attempt to give him so much pain he opened his mouth, but torture on Alastair? The angels and Dean underestimated the demon's will power. He was the head of the torture committee in Hell; the results weren't shocking.

    ReplyDelete
  75. In OTHOAP, along with what you're said, I love the scene where Cas finds the dead angel in the parking lot. I love the mood the rain set and the colors and Cas saying goodbye. :(

    ReplyDelete
  76.  Just finished season 6, but since DVDs with no commercial and great bonus material has me spoiled.  Think I will wait for s7 DVD.  Love s4&5.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Mystery Spot! My favorite episode EVER!

    The others are just....others X-D

    ReplyDelete
  78.  French Mistake is my favorite fun ep, loved them making fun of no one watching the show, Jared marrying Ruby, just the whole thing kept a smile on my face.  Misha doing his tweet thing. lol

When I want to get my eyes washed out I watch Swan Song, I sob when Dean is taking that beating and saying I'm here, not going to leave you and Baby doing her part.  So for me these are my 2 favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Ha!  I find that to be a perfectly valid way to vote and use it often.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I started by giving all episodes a 1-5 rating.  Then I looked at the 1's together to rank my favorites.  Next I did the 5's together to get my least favorites.  That part was pretty easy but the middle is still a mess I hope to figure out by next summer so I have a thorough ranking.  Of course the list is fluid, although episodes rarely move up or down more than 2 spots.  Well until a new season starts and I have to look at them all over again.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I'd still be torn over some episodes to no end. lol

    ReplyDelete
  82. I have a problem with that too and when they have long hair blowing in the wind.  Seriously folks, tie your hair back before you contaminate the crime scene.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Dean's, "We are so screwed."  right before Renegade kicked into gear was absolutely perfect. One concise line that summed up everything from that point on.  Loved it.   I think we voted the same in this round too.  Good to see You Can't Handle the Truth and Mommy Dearest getting some love.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Welcome to SpoilerTV.  Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.  Mystery Spot tends to be an overwhelming favorite.  I think its combo of comedy, drama, Trickster reveal, and brother hug make it hard to beat.  I'm hoping it makes it to the semi-finals.  Truly awesome episode!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Swan Song was really good.

French Mistake just wasn't my thing. I found it funny, yes I laughed, but I don't like the whole stepping out into the alternate real world type of thing- draws me out of the story when I'm usually so into what's happening. And I don't tend to favor episodes that don't really go anywhere. (Even Cas getting the weapons never did anything).

I did love seeing Cas's wings again though. So bad***. And Balty. And Dean making fun of Raphael's new vessel. XD

In CC we found out who the trickster really was and because it was just him playing a game with the boys, I liked the TV show thing. MS gave a preview to how Sam may react with Dean's death in Season 3 finale. And it was heartbreaking. And I loved Gabriel letting Sam go back to before when Dean was alive.

    ReplyDelete
  86. That's what I'm doing too. I don't watch repeats on TV, I wait until DVDs come out. That's for any show.

But by the time I finish Season 6 the Season 7 DVD set may be out so it's not an issue for me. I have all my favorite scenes from Season 4 to Season 7 on a playlist on my youtube account anyways. (Most have Cas in them lol)

    ReplyDelete
  87.  I think that this is a rather  irrisolvable problem for I can't really believe that with so many different people commenting about any given subject there can be all sweetness and light.

It's a bit utopic, rather like asking for world peace when we all know that it's practically impossible.

There is of course a line that must be drawn and that's at the personal insult but I wonder if the people who no longer post here have stopped posting altogether, because I honestly can't imagine that they would find a place where everyone is in agreement with their views, unless of course it is a site where everyone is on the same wavelength, eg a site where they are all Missouri fans and they all praise her together.

Certainly polls that encourage division, and the one about who is the best between Sam Dean and Castiel definitely is, are to be avoided.

    ReplyDelete
  88. We have our own website where we can chat together and no we don't always agree.  No one wants a place where everyone agrees because that is absolutely boring.  However on this site from the hellatus before season 7 throughout all of season 7 it felt like one long litany of complaints giving birth to more complaints.  Out and out personal attacks are usually taken care of here quickly so that is not a concern for me.  However, in every thread people were complaining about how season seven sucked and Sera sucked and Sam not getting a point of view sucked and Cas coming back sucked and Cas leaving sucked and Dean never getting a plot line sucked and the brother relationship or lack there of sucked and on and on and on.  All we ever heard about is how much people thought things sucked.  That's negativity breeding negativity and that truly sucked.  I don't blame people for wanting to leave a site that focused so much on what people did not like that it drowned out all the voices of people who did like some things - not all things but at least had something positive to say.  Heck I even stopped reading half the comments because dredging through the same bile week in and week out was frustrating to me too.  I don't want sunshine and roses.  I want balance.  Being overly negative throws the whole thing out of whack and ends up causing people to enjoy the show less and gives the show a bad reputation with new people.

  89.  I do rewatch every ep many times before the next eps comes around.  I just don't want to do a whole season at one time with commercials.  I have loved the bonus Heaven/Hell/soul material, really makes you think.
