If anyone has listened to the STV Podcast (yes that was asneaky plug) or checked the Suits section on Spoiler TV you will notice Ialways seem to appear in the reviews or interview sections for this show. It’snot for any other show I do this and it’s simply because this is an amazingshow. I even missed out on the chance of visiting the set recently when STV was invited (Ocean's suck). I'm not a reviewer, journalist or a person that writes often but I am a big suits fan so apologies for the lack of grammar. Season 2 finally starts again Thursday 14 June 10/9c on the USA network.
Previously onSuits
For those of you who haven’t seen Suits it’s all about a lawyercalled Harvey (Gabriel Macht) who hires a new associate called Mike (PatrickAdams) who once he learns/reads something he can never forget it. The onlyproblem is that Mike is not a lawyer. It also has a stellar supporting cast ofRick Hoffman, Gina Torres, Sarah Rafferty (who is hilarious) and Meghan Markle.Suits had a strong and consistent first season which developed the charactersand ended on the cliff-hanger that Mike’s secret could have been told to Harveyand Mike’s boss. I won’t go into a full season review but they have nicelyadded a previously on Suits at the start of the episode that highlights keyaspects to remind you.
Episode 2x01 – SheKnows
The opening episode deals with plot points from lastseason and creates some interesting new ones. Does Jessica (Torres) know aboutMike’s secret? Will Mike find out about Rachel’s (Markle) voice message sheleft on his phone? Both of these questions will be answered in the opener butunfortunately I am not going to say how and why.
This episode is all about the characters relationships witheach other and how they can be tested. Mike’s trust in Harvey is tested whilehe is dealing with a case of broken trust between friends. Harvey and his relationshipwith Jessica is tested and we see a new side to their relationship (could a fight be coming?) which takesthe main focus of the episode. We get more Donna (Rafferty) and Rachel timewhich was missing the majority of Season 1 and I’m hoping that we get morescenes with these two actresses together because I feel these characters do not get enough screen time together and are always brilliant to watch. Rafferty is brilliant as Donna and I would love to see more of her back story and relationship with Harvey (they have a knock out scene in the episode together).
There is however very little Lewis (Hoffman) in this episodebut you will not notice due to the pace of the episode but he is brilliant inthe short few scenes he is in. It’s tough to write an advanced review withoutgiving away too much because there are some brilliant scenes I would love todiscuss further but would really spoil the episode more than I can reveal.
I briefly want to talk about David Costabile (pictured) who is playingthe new character Daniel Hardman. He is going to be one of those charactersthat you hate but love to be on screen. He is going to be a major player inseason 2 of suits and there is a history between himself, Harvey and Jessicathat is going to cause a lot of friction at the firm.
This is a strong opening episode that sets up the mainrelationships from last season and adds some new layers to buildas the season continues. All of the cast are on top form especially Macht andTorres. I’m also glad Torres is getting more screen time which I feel waslacking in Season 1. This episode however is the Harvey show and Macht shows arange of emotions that really help you to re-connect with this character. We alsoget to see Mike be more like Harvey in his side storyline settling a case whichis also enjoyable to watch but his struggle during the episode and his contrastfrom elevator ride to the next is very interesting (can’t say to much without spoiling).
Overall this is one of the best SUITS episodes to date even though I feel the Mike settlementcase feels a bit forced into the story but you don’t notice due to a great castand the chemistry they all have together. I won’t give any hints this timebut I will say that they use thesong “Smoke and Mirrors” by GOYTE and the lyrics are very important to thestoryline as well as being a great song (hint hint). I hope to do more reviews in the future where I can discuss the episode in more detail.
So please do check out the new season of SUITS on the USANetwork at 10/9c on 14 June.

Is it just me, or does Gabriel/Harvey's hair look blond in the promo? I know it's his natural color, but last season they dyed it darker. I'm just excited to have the show back! With this review- I'm even more excited!
