Maybe you can help me here. I'm a bit confused with Spartacus it's titles. My understanding is that Season 1 was called Spartacus. Season 2 Spartacus: Vengeance . Is that correct? But it's still "Spartacus" tough isn't it? ie not Gods of the Arena etc
S1, Spartacus: Blood and Sand. S2, Spartacus: Vengeance. Prequel, Spartacus: Gods of The Arena. The subtitle of the S3 is in the works, Steven said he had some ideas, but can't say anything at the moment. Anyway .. is always Spartacus! :)
Every season has a different name. Season 1 was Spartacus: Blood and Sand, the prequel was Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, and Season 2 was Spartacus: Vengeance. Unlikely they'll keep the 'vengeance' title since the people that Spartacus wanted vengeance against are dead so they'll move on to something more fitting.
It's not confirmed but I sure hope so. I think Steven DeKnight has expressed hope that they will be there again. Seeing as how Starz is a small network I think they like plugging all their stuff there.
It seems like something i would like, too bad they just cancelled it.I wonder if they are still filming,or if they finished? I would hate to watch 3 seasons without an ending,i lost 4 shows this year w/o one....?
I don't thing they cancelled it meaning like shows were the showrunners would love to continue. In this case it is more like they had a vision or I guess 4-5 seasons but with the 3rd one and the inclusion of Marcus Crassus and Julius Caesar decided that pulling every strings to go out with a bang and not artificially drag the story.
As far as I know the actors went back to New Zealand for Gladiator training and/or shooting a few weeks ago so they will definitely have enough time to include everything to close up the story.
Really have no insides but I can't imagine that they have already filmed more than 3-5 episodes of this last season. So they will have plenty of time and in a interview with the showrunner, he says that he had it in his mind for a few months already that this might be the last season.
We will NOT get a Firefly ending, and hey, these about 40 episodes in total á 55 minutes are a hole lotta more than Whedon got.
As I expected it. At http://www.starz.com/originals/spartacus#/special-message-to-all-fans-about-the-final-season-of-spartacus you can see the creator of the show explain present their decision.

AAHHH! I forgot they already started production! Already looks epic!
ReplyDeleteI wonder though if they'll keep the Vengeance title.

ReplyDeleteAs a recent Spartacus fan who consumed all the previous seasons in the space of about a week, the wait for S3 is so hard!
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty cool. I still need to finish the last 3 eps of S2....

ReplyDeleteI think i would like to check this out!
ReplyDeleteDon't know your taste, but if you would give the first season about 4-6 episodes time, you will know if this series is something for you.
ReplyDeleteOh, you're going to love them.

That was very nice of him to address this, the Hollywood Reporter didn't make it seem that it was mutually agreed upon...Thanks for this!
