I'm so excited that this show is back! This episode seemed more like it was setting up for the rest of the season, but I think in large part I feel that way because I had seen all the trailers, sneak peaks, plus the first ten minutes (so I knew in large part what to expect from this episode). That said this was still an awesome episode (maybe I'm biased though because I'm just so psyched that it's back).
1) I am really glad that they threw a major wrench in the Jackson turning into a werewolf storyline-to me it always seemed boring to turn him into a werewolf so soon when that was the one thing that he wanted most. I'm looking forward to seeing how Jackson's system continues to fight the bite and what happens as a result.
2) Stiles still breaks records as one of the most awesome and funniest characters ever. I was laughing so hard at different points in the episodes, whether it was when he sleep talking, knocking over the vending machine, setting off the trip wire, or falling down trying to steal his dads coat while staring at a naked Lydia. Seriously I would question someone's sanity if they said they didn't like Stiles.
3) Scott and Allison are still an awesome couple in my book. I know some people consider them a somewhat boring couple that takes up screentime, but Crystal Reed and Tyler Posey just seem to have such great chemistry in my opinion and the writers do such a great job of telling their story. They had both sweet and cute scenes and I'm looking forward to seeing how they struggle over the season.
4) They did a great job making what Lydia a mystery tonight. I'm really interested in what's happening with her and where she was and what happened to her during tonight's episode when she wasn't on screen.
5) Grandpa Argent seemed to be introduced as a very one dimensional character tonight. But I'm hoping that as the season goes on we get more into what made him a hunter and that he gets a chance to expand his personality. I do realize though that they had a lot to fit into the episode and it kind of makes sense to introduce him the way they did for dramatic effect.
6) God Dawson Leery's dad got old lol. Then again I don't think I've seen John Wesley Shipp in anything since Dawson's Creek.
Anyway based off tonight's episode, plus the promos (and all the previously released promos) for the season, I predict that this season is going to be even better than the first one. I'm totally psyched for it!
yay it's back. Almost missed it since I didn't get my dvr set up right last week.
I really like the new opening credits. Seems like they're saying something about Lydia, but I can't figure it out yet. They have definitely piqued my curiosity.
Stiles is SO COMPLETELY why I watch this show. When he popped in to give the most accurate description of Lydia EVER I nearly fell off my chair. :-)
Jackson as a werewolf is a massively bad idea.
Scott with his head out the window like a dog. hee hee....
The worst thing about having forgotten to set my DVR is I'm watching live. Which means I can't FF the commercials!
Loved the sequence at the graveyard. spooky. A liver?
Dang it! I lost the channel just as Lydia came out of the woods! She opened her mouth to speak and the picture froze!
Okay, caught up.
Jackson....I love how he maintains his arrogance in the face of...a complete lack of any reason to be arrogant. I wonder if he'll lose the wolf. And if he does will he continue to be an arrogant jerk?
Is Lydia a werewolf or something different? (I'm voting for something different. I think that would be really fun. She's not adopted, right? )
Knew Grandpa was going to be a bad guy.
Kyle, be nice to Derek if for no other reason than he continually saves your bacon!
Absolutely thrilled this show is back. It's so much fun!
I think they were definitely using this episode to set up this season's main stories.
As for Stiles I completely agree with you! I forgot about the trip wire. hysterical. And I think the kid playing Stiles is, IMHO, the best of the young actors on the show.
I share your hope about Grandpa Argent but I'm betting that he's going to remain fairly one dimensional. It really seems like he's here to fill his daughter's slot on the show. His world view is black and white and I don't think it's going to change. Hopefully, though, his presence will challenge Allison's father's view of right and wrong; push him closer to that line where Mr. Argent has to choose between his code and his family. What would happen if Mr. Argent hits a situation where he thinks he should side with the wolves instead of his father. (father in law?)
I forgot John Wesley Ship did Dawson's Creek (I only stuck it out through 2 seasons of that show.) I remember him as The Flash....and he just did a stint as a real bastard of an abusive father on a soap opera, One Life to Live. He was really good and it looks like he might get to exercise his bad guy chops here this season.
So, is the little guy from the cemetery a wolf or is Derek recruiting?
Great episode, sets the foundation for the rest of the season nicely. I'm glad we're gonna see new characters.Michael Hogan is always amazing and I'm looking forward to seeing how Isaac reacts after the bite.
And one last thing..I'm calling it now,Jackson is a Leviathan! ; )
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Loved the premiere. Set up a bunch of story lines and I'm so glad we have less than a day to wait for a new episode.
ReplyDeleteBack to back episodes are awesome after waiting so long! I will watch them both together on Tuesday lol but I'm sure it's going to be fun!
