The Monte-Carlo TV Festival and Eurodata TV Worldwide announce the Winners of the 7th International TV Audience Awards

The Monte-Carlo TV Festival and Eurodata TV Worldwide have joined forces in order to reward programs who delivered the highest ratings worldwide.


Laurent Puons, Chief Executive Officer of the Festival and Jacques Braun, Médiamétrie Executive Director and Eurodata TV Worldwide Vice President, revealed the winners of the 7th International TV Audience Awards yesterday night at the 52nd Monte-Carlo Television Festival Awards Ceremony at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

Are rewarded the programs delivering the highest ratings worldwide in 2011 across five continents in three categories: “Drama TV Series“, “Comedy TV Series”, and "Telenovelas / Soap Operas". The nominees were pre-selected among the fifteen best imported fiction programs in 65 countries, i.e. almost 3 billion potential viewers.

The most-watched television shows are:

For “Drama TV Series”:
CSI Las Vegas (USA)
This programmegathered more than 63 million viewers worldwide in 2011*.
The other nominees were: CSI Miami (USA) and CSI New York (USA)


For “Comedy TV Series”:
Desperate Housewives (USA)
This programmegathered 40.8 million viewers worldwide in 2011*.
The other nominees were: Svaty (Ukraine) and The Big Bang Theory (USA).


For “Telenovelas / Soap Operas”:
The Bold and The Beautiful (USA)
This programmegathered more than 19.3 million viewers worldwide in 2011*.
The other nominees were: La Reina Del Sur (USA/Spain/Colombia) and Eva Luna
(USA/Venezuela).

* Total of TV ratings of the best performing episode in the broadcast countries among the 65 countries included in the survey.
