Thanks to tarot_maniac for the heads up.
Mariana Klaveno has been cast as Lily Munster in NBC’s Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane. However, Klaveno’s deal is contingent on her being released from a pilot she had a regular role on: ABC’s Devious Maids.
Klaveno is not one of the leads on Devious Maids and has just a few lines in the pilot. But, in light of the project’s possible move to Lifetime, in an act of gamesmanship or a mix of both, Devious Maids producer ABC Studios has so far refused to release the actress. I hear that, in a major departure from precedent, NBC is even willing to let Klaveno recur on Devious Maids in exchange for securing her in first position to Mockingbird Lane, where she would play the female lead.

O, this is interesting. They must be really desperate to have her!
ReplyDeleteI think she`s a good fit, a mix of scary and cute. Bryan Fuller is kinda with this project that he wont cast anybody for the roles, and want to wait for the actors to be able to take the roles. It looks like he wanted Jerry O`Connell for that role he was cast in, and that he really wanted Eddie Izzard as Grandpa.
ReplyDeleteI like Kaveno but as long as Jerry O'Connell is attached to this project I have absolutely no interest in it.
ReplyDeleteyes Devious Maids might go to Lifetime awesome!!!!
ReplyDeleteShe's got Vampire experience already so pretty good choice I think. Plus she's cute-hot, can't go wrong with cute-hot.
ReplyDeleteI liked the Munsters, so my inner child is rooting for Mockingbird Lane even though the rational part of me says: run away from this show. I am conflicted.
ReplyDeleteWasn't devious maids not picked up?
ReplyDeleteYep, Devious Maids wasn't picked up by ABC who had ordered the pilot BUT Klaveno is contracted still to DM. See, when a pilot is developed they want to ensure their actors are available if the show is picked up so the contract has provisions to ensure they are available if the show is picked up. In this case ABC didn't pick up the pilot but there is a slim possibility ABC could order it for a mid season replacement. However, now Lifetime is looking at picking up the show so obviously the seller - ABC wants to make DM attractive (and recoup their investment) so they want ot make sure the stars of DM are still available and under contract in case the show is picked up. Though it seems to me as DM needs to cut characters or costs Klaveno would be an obvious choice or even recurring. Young attractive actresses are plentiful especially without much of a name. Klaveno is no Sarah Michelle Gellar, Lauren Conrad, Paris Hilton etc. Surely they could pick up someone at the lowest scale who could do the role or make Klaveno's role recurring and work with Mockingbird Lane about scheduling so DM would get the added benefit and vice versa of more publicity. DM really should focus on getting a home, maybe diversifying the maids and utilizing some of their talent - Grant Show and Susan Lucci.
