  1. Thats fantastic news. Now we don't have to worry about the show moving to sunday :)

  2.  It skews older anyway, so the move won't hurt it all that much.

  3. GOD YES!!! YESSS!!!! OMG!!! YESSSSS!

  4. YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

PS:is this the reason why they don't worry about moving TM to Sunday?

  5. The Big Bang Theory was renewed for 3 seasons just over a year ago, so yes, these multiple renewals can happen!

  6. I don't see any other news about this any other place, not even in official press releases... are we certain about this?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Ashley Gable said that to twitter! I don't think she was making fun of us :D

  8. You're probably right, but it just seems (in lack of a better word) tacky... I would expect any network to formally announce a season renewal in a press release, I mean, that's a big deal. When so many shows struggle on getting a renewal, I would expect them to be more proud of its success and rather be trying to get the press release out as soon as possible as a way to reward the audience. Apparently CBS disagrees with me :/

  9. Also Ashley said "It wasn't widely reported, but it's not a secret. Networks sometimes pick up for two seasons. Happened with #Glee, I believe."
    I wanna believe in it!

  10. Maybe CBS won't announce that until the end of season 5- it's possible that they want to keep the audience on edge about this. I bet there's a lot happening we never know about. I don't believe that Ashley Gable would say something like that if it's not true, and I also don't believe that she's mistaken. She was one of TMs leading ladies- I think she knows exactly what's happening. It's very nice of her to tell us :D.

..i am not surprise the final scene from the last episode of the season those words that patrick spoke & lisbon face reaction about it put the new story line in motion and for me a very disturb one

  12.  yes, she is an executive producer of the show. I am so glad to hear that it has been picked up for 6. I was sure that it would cancelled because of it's crappy new timeslot.

    ReplyDelete
  13.  I'm glad, too! It takes a lot of pressure out of season five, and I hate it when I can't really enjoy the episodes because I'm always glancing at the ratings, wondering if it will be enough... it will be so nice to just lean back and ENJOY for a change...

  14. Let's hope she continues being Ex Producer the remaining seasons while being the active writer for another show. I've seen it happened, I hope it will be the same in this case.

  15. I wouldn't take her word as gospel.Since they are moving to Sunday night,if the ratings are poor there is no guarantee that the show will be renewed for a sixth season. And i highly doubt CBS already committed to a sixth season...

  16. bad news.. now we will get the opening red john episode of season 5. then maybe a midseason red john episode,, then a massive cliffhanger of an end of season...then comes 99%same in season 6, in between filler......  real fans just want the red john story over with cmon... dont make us wait 8 years like monk did :(     mentalist and red john are awsome.. mentalist and filler is not..

    ReplyDelete
  17. "Has been picked up" implies that CBS did exactly that, doesn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  18. "Real fans"? I don't know- do you have to pass a test to join this elusive group? Where are they, and what do they have that we un-real fans don't?

    ReplyDelete
  19. A friend of mine, also a big fan, couldn't believe it and wrote a mail to CBS- she just mailed me the answer she got:

    "Thank
you for writing to CBS.  THE MENTALIST has been renewed for the fall
    schedule.  A decision
regarding a sixth season will come next year.

    Cordially,

    Ray
    Faiola

    Director,

    CBS
    Audience Services"

No idea what's true, but I'm SOOOOO disappointed at the moment... why should they keep it a real secret?

  20. You call yourself a true fan and then basically say 'Red John is awesome, Mentalist isn't'...WHAT?!? As more than just an 'active' member of the fandom, I can tell you right now that this is NOT how 'real fans' feel, not in my experience anyway. Another thing I don't understand: Red John IS awesome, and so important to the show, but it IS a procedural at the end of the day, and a damn good one at that. It's been advertised and presented this way from DAY 1, so where's the issue? Stand alone episodes don't count as 'filler' in a show that's format lends itself to mostly that - case a week episodes. If it was a completely serialised show doing episodes with no story progression, THAT would be filler, but The Mentalist isn't that :-)

  21. Don't be disappointed. If it's not true, then we're just in the same situation as we were before the tweet, which is the same almost every other show is in year by year. People are overreacting to the Sunday change so much, mostr likely because of how MIAMI did there - I will state what someone else said above: The Mentalist will be fine on Sundays. it really will.

    ReplyDelete
  22. aweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesome YAY!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh! Okay... well I actually think this might be really good for the show knowing they can have a two year projection for certain things....

    ReplyDelete
  24.  That's true, it would only leave us where we started. I'm not so scared about the Sunday-slot (but then, I'm German- The Mentalist has always been on Sunday here, doing brilliantly :D), even MIAMI survived two seasons on Sunday, and it was much older than TM...and had Calleigh Duquesne (sorry to all Calleigh-fans, it just slipped out...).

  25.  I was talking about S6,honestly so you think a network is going to guarantee a 6th season, this far ahead? Like CBS can't change there mind,or pull the show?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I am sure she does. She has written some important episodes over the course of the series an integral part of the show according to me. And she has also written what I believe is the best episode of the series, season 2 episode 8 "His Red Right Hand".

    ReplyDelete
  27. That's AWSOME news!!!! :D

    Great.Love the show.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Of course she has written great episodes, but I'm talking about her being an executive producer for TM, and since she's not longer a writer, I wonder if that will extend to her being a Ex Producer too. I hope not, but I'd understand if she isn't anymore. It wouldn't surprise me if she does like with TM become a co ex prod for Vegas and then a full Ex producer.

    ReplyDelete
  30.  Not for season 6 but maybe for season 7. Who knows. I hope you're right with sunday.

    ReplyDelete
  31.  she is no longer a writer on Mentalist? :O That's news to me!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh, I assumed that was already common knowledge by now :)

She said on twitter, that she was leaving TM. Her last episode "So Long and Thanks for All The Red Snapper", from he title to actual the ep, was all about good byes and farewells. She's now writing for the new CBS show Vegas.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Man! First the move to sunday and now my favorite writer on the show is leaving... :'(

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm beginning to think that lady from the twitter could be misinformed. I know she's one of the Mentalists executive producers, but there is still no confirmation from any other sources. Still no elaboration as to where and how she got that info. The whole renewal situation looks... weird.  CBS keeps silence. Other ppl that are involved in the show production also keep silence. And what if the ratings go down below 2.0 or even 1.7? Still renewal? What broadcast channel does that? CBS is merciless, everybody knows that.

Unless...  the 6th season is the final one. Like it was renewed unofficially, like ''you guys will get your 6th season, but it will be the last one.''

  35. The Mentalist was quality when it first started, but now it is just trawls aimlessly through chessy storylines. It's like Scooby Doo. Season 5 has picked up and found some new direction, but if we're going to have to sit through another season of The Mentalist I suspect they'll start introducing some pointless quirky filler at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I personally LOVE this season of The Mentalist! It is both funny and dark at the same time. The Mentalist is still an awesome show reguardless of filler or not. I like having the cliff hangers because they make me think. The show as a whole is what makes it entertaining. Red John is a huge part of what drives Jane, but the characters, including Jane are strong and likable. I personally love all aspects of The Mentalist and want it to continue as long as possible. :) For most of the same reasons, I loved Monk.

  37. I always love hearing what Patrick has to say...whether red john is in it or not, mentalist will always be #1 to me.
