A&E's new scripted drama series "Longmire" set ratings records for the network with the series premiere on Sunday, June 3 at 10:00PM ET/PT, becoming the network's most watched original series launch of all time with 4.1 million total viewers. "Longmire" launched as cable's top new scripted drama of 2012 among total viewers and adults 25-54 with 1.4 million in the demo tuning in.

Also on Sunday night, the season three premiere of the hit original scripted drama "The Glades" attracted strong numbers as well with its return at 9:00PM ET/PT. The series posted double-digit gains in all key demos compared to its season two averages, garnering 3.1 million total viewers (up 19%), 1.4 million adults 25-54 (up 27%) and 1.1 million adults 18-49 (up 17%).

  1. I'm surprised that it set a ratings record for A&E only because it's on at 10pm and not earlier, but I'm glad it did so well.  If it had been on against the 9PM shows, I don't think it would have.

  2. A&E is beginning to be a player in the cable networks drama game. I'm happy for them! I have loved The Glades from the get-go, and Longmire had a really great start.

  3. "A&E is beginning to be a player in the cable networks drama game."

I wouldn't go that far.  Out of all of A&E's attempts at launching a drama series, The Glades is the only one to make it past 2 seasons.

  4. I am happy the Glades is getting more chance, it's a fun show to watch. My H & I both agree on it, which is unusual! lol We've loved it from the beginning.

  5. Yeah but Longmire has pretty big potential. Plus I didn't say major player. I said beginning to be a player, beginning being the operative word. You gotta start somewhere, and like I said I'm happy for them.
