Game of Thrones - Season 2 Finale - Breaks Ratings Records

HBO’s Game of Thrones reached a new all-time high in the ratings Sunday night.
The second season finale was seen by 4.2 million viewers — the first time the show has cracked four million viewers for a first-run airing — and delivered 5.1 million for the night including repeats.

    Great ratings and well deserved! but the moolah for HBO is in the worldwide subscriptions, last night I was in my corner of the world watching GoT on my tv (cause they have worldwide episode premieres). It made me wonder how much money HBO makes.

    Yay! This can only bode well for the future of the show.

    It's truly amazing how well-known this show has become. I mean, I live in Belgium, where GoT has not yet been broadcast at ALL, not a single episode, and today at work I got to discuss the newest episodes with half of my colleagues. That's saying a lot about this show's popularity for me.

    The continued and escalating success of Game of Thrones probably helps to soften the blow of all the cash they blew on the Luck fiasco.

    The Blackwater episode aired during Memorial Day weekend in the U.S., and that caused a ratings drop for all tv shows here.

    Great news!!

    I am not watching the series yet (want to finish reading the books, which can be almost impossible while writing my phd), but this reinforces my hopes that GoT will be a long lasting series.

    I had high hopes for Luck at first but never got to watch a single episode. I had no idea that it had tanked. Ouch.

     Luck wasn't on air long enough to tank.  HBO and the producers of Luck had to completely shut down production on the show forever because horses kept dying.

    If it sticks to the Source Material closely enough there is no way it won't win awards and thus gain MAJOR buzz in the industry.

     The animal rights group went into an uproar after the second horse died,when the third horse died only a few weeks later they had to close production down for good..It was pretty horrible to hear it happened again.

    There's no reason to believe that it will.  S2 abandoned the source material in most places.  It's safe to say that since they're casting Ramsay Bolton for S3, it will as well.
