  3. Apparently I have a lot of thoughts about award nominations even when they inevitably disappoint me with the results

Comedy series: Meh to Modern Family and Girls. Where is Veep and Happy Endings?Comedy Actor - Great to see the always underated Garret get a nomination.Comedy Actress: Zooey and Lena just no. But yes to Ashley Rickards I love AwkwardComedy supporting actor: Mostly Ok, Ty is the best of Modern Family.Comedy supporting actress: I love Casey but feel like Elisha should be there as well she was so great this seasonDrama Series: Yes, No, Yes, No, Yes, No. Where is Justified?Drama actor: Kesley Grammer really??Drama actress: Has to be Claire.Drama supporting actor: What a strong list! Drama supporting actress: Regina King woo!Best movie/mini-series: How does AHS count as a mini-series??? Makes no sense.Best movie/mini-series actor: Personally feel like Martin Freeman was stronger in this season of Sherlock but still yay for Benedict.Best movie/mini-series actress: Lara Pulver <3

  4. They keep nominating JM for The Good Wife over others like Anna Torv for Fringe.  I like JM but she doesn't deserve it every season.

  5. I never like the comedy nominations, but I don't like most comedies.
Seriously though... Girls?? XDLove the Drama nominations! Awesome to see Charlie hunnam and  Maggie Siff for Sons of Anarchy and Timothy Oliphant for Justified! The rest were pretty much expected and who should have been nominated. The critics usually get their drama nominations right!

What? Fringe is not on the list for 'Best Drama'? The shame!

  7. Yeah I don't understand how AHS is nominated for mini-series either...
I guess maybe it was a compromise of sorts since there was absolutely no way it was making it into the Best Drama category. XD

  8. Pretty good list, certainly better than the Emmys and the Golden Globes. Somewhat disappointed by the comedy nominations though.I mean, I get that TBBT, Modern Family and New Girl are more popular, but there is no way that they are on the same level as Community, Parks and Rec and Girls (yes, Girls is amazing. Deal with it.) Louie, Happy Endings and Cougar Town would be much more deserving.

  9. Really surprised to see Christine Baranski and not Archie Panjabi on the list for Best Supporting. They usually go hand in hand.

  10. Please can we get John Noble an award already...this man has such a tremendous talent and has played the parts of about five different versions of his character throughout the years 4 years Fringe has been on brilliantly.  The writers of course also deserve credit for writing him some of the most memorable lines and scenes, but those couldn't have been anything without the eloquence exhibited by John Noble when delivering them.  I think I speak for most people when I say that his voice is one of the most powerful and up to par with Morgan Freeman where he can read utter nonsense and make it sound absolutely fascinating.  Now there is a gift and true skill of a great actor.

  16. Wow, it's great that Community got some love!

  17. It’s much
harder to choose when the nominations are mostly adequate and good and not
batshit crazy as they usually are in the Emmys.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Lots of great nods here. LOTS. I wish The Emmys were more like this.

  19. WTF??? No Anna Torv??? What's wrong with these people???? She really deserves one!!!

  20. I love the fact that Jim Rash is in the list for best supporting.

That's brilliant, because, honestly, it was his year.

  21. Nice to see a lot of Community nominations :)

  22. These are my hopes for the awards and how they end up:

Best Comedy Series: Community (Parks & Rec would be good too)
    Best Comedy Actor: Joel McHale
    Best Comedy Actress: Amy Poehler
Best Comedy Supporting Actor: Jim Rash (while I love Nick Offerman and Danny Pudi, Jim Rash just absolutely killed it this year)
Best Comedy Supporting Actress: Alison Brie (Gillian Jacobs would be good too)

Best Drama Series: Game of Thrones
Best Drama Actor: Bryan Cranston (Timothy Olyphant would be good too)
    Best Drama Actress: Emmy Rossum
Best Drama Supporting Actor: Peter Dinklage (John Noble, I love you as Walter, but gotta go with Tyrion)

After that, I don't care who wins as these are the only ones I've watched or know well.

  25. I don´t really watch the comedy´s, so I´ll only comment on the Drama nom.

Best Drama Series:Game of Thrones (and Homeland)
    Best Drama Actor:
Charlie Hunnam and Timophy Olyphant (no way I can choose between the two)
    Best Drama Actress:Claire Danes
Best Drama Supporting Actor:Peter Dinklage or John Noble
    Best Drama Supporting Actress:Maggie Siff

I really like Mad Men, but I hope Sons of Anarchy, Justified, GoT and Homeland wins this year. They are such brilliant shows.

  26. All I have heard about Girls is that is, not crappy, but at least subpar. Is it a good show to watch?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Good to see Timothy Olyphant and John Noble on this list.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Community is just great i'm glad the show is recognized somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  29. So happy for Parks and Rec :D

    ReplyDelete
  30. Bias against what? I like Fringe but it simply is not as good as Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Game of Thrones etc.

    ReplyDelete
  31. It's pretty much a love it or hate it situation. I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Is anyone else surprised that anyone from Person of Interest isn't on here? Is that show too new to be up for awards like these or something?

    ReplyDelete
  33. And Anna Torv hasn't? That's the exact attitude that perpetuates the same actors/actress' getting repeat nominations while performances that are as good or even better keep getting ignored.

Her work deserves recognition. Picking the same people over and over again without broadening your vision to notice other really great acting, in the end, just fuels the myopia that plagues these awards groups.

There's such a seniority bias, and sadly. it's just the way things are.
