FX Orders Comedy Series Pilot “Bronx Warrants”
Created by Executive Producer Dean Lorey
From Executive Producers Denis Leary and Jim Serpico
LOS ANGELES, June 20, 2012 – FX is getting back into business with Rescue Me producers Denis Leary and Jim Serpico, placing an order for the comedy pilot Bronx Warrants, announced Eric Schrier, Head of Series Development for FX and Executive Vice President of FX Productions.
Bronx Warrants was created by Dean Lorey (Arrested Development, My Wife and Kids) who also serves as Executive Producer. Denis Leary and Jim Serpico are Executive Producers and Tom Sellitti is Co-Executive Producer. Bronx Warrants is based on the real life exploits of David Joglar and Richard Wetzel who are Co-Producers. Bronx Warrants is produced by FX Productions.
"We've enjoyed a great relationship with Denis, Jim and Tom through seven years of Rescue Me and I believe they found the perfect project to continue that relationship," said Schrier. "Dean Lorey has taken this unique police squad and created a hilarious and surprising world of characters and situations."
Bronx Warrants is a comedy revolving around a group of errant warrant detectives in the Bronx assigned to arrest individuals with outstanding warrants. With bonuses paid out for each “body” they bring in, the detectives are out to get rich rather than dole out justice.
"I'm thrilled to be working with Denis Leary, Jim Serpico and the great team at FX,” said Dean Lorey. “We loved this show from the second real life Bronx Warrants cops David Joglar and Richard Wetzel shared their insane exploits with us and we can't wait to get shooting."
Denis Leary added, “I speak for everyone at Apostle when I say it's great to be welcomed back into the FX family where we hope to make a laugh-out-loud half hour and - even more importantly - use the network's juice to sneak into the Emmy gifting suites and come away with many bags of shiny swag.”
Leary, Serpico and Sellitti and their Apostle Pictures produced FX’s Emmy® and Golden Globe® award nominated hit drama Rescue Me, which also received the 2012 Television Academy Honors Award, and they also produced the critically acclaimed comedy series The Job for ABC.
FX’s comedy roster includes It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, The League, Archer, Louie, Wilfred, Brand X with Russell Brand, Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, and Legit (early 2013).
Last year, every returning FX original comedy series posted ratings gains versus prior seasons. Sunny posted its best ratings ever last season and remains the highest-rated comedy in FX history. Wilfred, which debuted in June, was the number-one comedy premiere ever for FX and is the highest-rated first season comedy in FX history. Louie, starring Louis C.K., was named TIME magazine’s Best Series of 2011, and received AFI honors as one of the Ten Most Outstanding Programs of 2011, as well as Television Critics Association and Broadcast Television Journalists Association award nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series. Louis C.K. received Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (an FX first) and also Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Louis C.K. and Pamela Adlon received a WGA Award nomination in the Comedy Series category. C.K. won the 2012 BJTA Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. Archer won the 2012 BJTA Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Animated Series and the 2012 Comedy Awards award for Best Animated Series.
