One of the things we pride ourselves here at SpoilerTV is the fantastic community that we have built up here over the past 10 years. Our readers generally are the most knowledgeable, respectful, funny and helpful of any community I've been involved with.
With that in mind we've had a few people ask if there was some sort of "directory" of our readers and team.
Now we already have a "Meet the Team" page where you can read up on some of the people who help run the site along with links to their various social media accounts.
However we've never had a community page...
Until now.
So if you want to leave as much or as little detail about yourself in the comments below it will help people within the community to connect with each other.

I am Steffen. Born in the countryside of Norway. Moved near the captiol (Oslo) when i was 2-3 years old. Besides that i have also lived two years in the states, where i went to norwegian school in New York, then New Orleans the other year. I have family in both Florida and New Orleans. This was when i was 10-12.
Usually i work with electronics, mostly tv-screens and iPhones, and have some years working for the oil company Statoil. Both at the main office, and at few gas stations before that. I work only 2-3 days a week, and gives me enough to pay both the rent and more. So i dont work full week like most do.
Besides that i write for Serienytt.no, a site like this one just more focus on meanings, reviews and such. It`s kinda at a stop now, because of many things. Im also a gamer, also i play piano and sings. Sometimes i help out some people i know in the music industry, mostly fresh artists or just producers i know.

I found the DarkUFO site about the time Lost was ending, and from there stumbled upon this site. I check in about a million times a day. I like to expression my opinion and be enlightened by others.
Lost is what brought me here, and of course I love it. Before that I loved The Sopranos and I used to watch a lot of HGTV, and TLC's What Not to Wear.
Current favorites are Fringe, The Walking Dead, Once Upon a Time, Person of Interest, Grimm, Community, and Parks and Recreation.

Favorite TV shows: currently they are Community. Leverage, Switch At Birth, The Big Bang Theory among others shows. I am a fan of Supernatural although at the moment my love of the show is dwindling a little so I can't say that it is my absolute favorite. It used to be my obsession and is how I got into online fandom way back when.
How I found STV: I actually found STV when I was hunting down some Supernatural news a couple of years ago. At first I was pretty much a lurker and then the badge system started as well as disqus so the rest was history!
Social Media: while I use my Twitter account here it is personal and I prefer going by my nickname pinkphoenix1985.
I can see it in the comments admin panel, not sure if you can see it for your own account somewhere.

ReplyDeleteI started lurking here way back when i was completely hooked on LOST. I was obsessed. So i came to darkufo.blogspot to get some tasty spoilers. Nowadays, while still being in love with LOST, i do enjoy others shows, as well. That includes: Community, Parks & Rec, GoT, Arrested Development, Party Down, Little Britain, Family Guy, The Simpsons from the 90's, Justified, Louie, Twin Peaks, and many more.
My fascination with TV and movies has been around for as long as i can remember. I've been writing reviews on and off for years, but these days i tend to write mostly short stories and humorous essays on everything from people eating loudly in theaters to why curly hair is an indication of evil. English isn't my first language, though, so that will most likely remain a hobby.
Other interests includes sports(mostly soccer), drawing and painting, wearing pants, and long walks into the woods while daydreaming about long walks on the beach.

My favorite shows are Fringe and Person Of Interest and a couple from England. At the moment that's about it. It's a case of becoming tired of older shows and new shows getting canceled. A few I wasn't sorry to see go,but others I was just getting to like and they get canned. Same thing goes for shows that have been around a couple of years as we well know with Fringe. I guess the system will have to change sooner or later, just hope it's sooner.

Proud Member of the SpoilerTV Community: since 2010. Found this site when Supernatural was going up against I think NCIS in Adam's Best Show Competition. Since I couldn't let SPN lose (although I loved NCIS at the time) or defamed as a teeny bopper show, I started commenting and passing the word. Have been here ever since - still commenting and passing the word.
Best Reason to be Part of the STV Community: the people. Many websites, especially for SPN, get involved in flame wars and tearing each other down. Others don't have much of a community at all. SpoilerTV offers the best of both worlds, a strong community that generally respects each other and allows people to have differing opinions. In fact some of my good friends I've met through this site. So glad I found this place. I never go a day without being on SpoilerTV. Just consider it part of my ever growing social media addiction.

I loathe shippers and how they have lowered the quality of TV.
I hate when showrunners put their finger to the air to get public opinion.

I hate female detectives wearing high heels when in the field.
I find SIRI an incredibly sad statement on the de-socialization of humanity.

ReplyDeleteNormally I teach middle school English but currently I am teaching library, media literacy, and informational technology to kindergarten through 5th grade.
ReplyDeleteThose ages i like,the little ones have mines like a sponge! Middle school is when they start with the attitude or they believe you know nothing. I taught deaf,blind,Deaf/blind children ages 8 to 17.It was very difficult after 8 years i had to stop,i just didn't have anything left in me.....

ReplyDeleteCable is superior to network (Breaking Bad immediately springs to mind); that's why network is suffering a prolonged and painful death.
Shippers can be rather toxic at times: Just look at Castle, Gossip Girl, House, etc; let alone Twilight (*shudders*).However, they're not all bad. I have been known to ship Booth/Brennan, Sherlock/John, and I was a supporter of Renly/Loras (RIP, Renly). If it helps the plot, shipping can be very effective.
I generally agree about showrunners, but they need to be accountable to their base to some degree. If they were all self-righteous assholes like Damon Lindelof, television would be a much worse place.
The whole "Siri" thing, I don't understand.
Oh I agree about shippers, or any other general group, it's rare a 100% of anything is all bad.

My dislike of shippers is more a general disdain of the cliche romantic love triangle or sexual tension between leads. I tend to lump together true shippers and other people who like romantic love triangle happy shows in general.
Some shows have a habit of repeatedly putting each lead into love triangles as a plot device and I abhor it. ABC is my prime offender in that respect.... I guess basically I watch shows for their overall plots and most shows are not about the relationship of the leads. Less shows should feel the need to have some kind of sexual tension between the leads just because they happen to be a man and a woman. It's cliche and annoying to me.
It's one thing if romance and relationships are a large part of the show like a soap opera...
I won't even get into the sheeple who ship two straight men as a couple or two straight women as a couple, or even men and women that obviously have no attraction for each other on the show etc.....
The SIRI thing....
People are losing their social skills as computers become more and more prevalent in their everyday lives. Person to person interaction is becoming an endangered species for many people and what do we do to help? We create a program to make our cell phones behave more "human" to make ourselves feel social again. I find it sad.... even if I do understand some of the convenience of the SIRI program...

Teaching is always a challenge. I could not have done the job you did. I actually prefer middle school to any other grades. This year was challenging to me because I am not used to having kids throwing temper tantrums in the hallways, kicking their feet and screaming. I don't have a lot of patience for that nonsense. I prefer students who understand sarcasm and whom I can have an actual conversation with. Middle schoolers have a lot of opinions and it's always fun helping them find their voice and channeling their passions and talents into productive areas.

I have one dag and a cat, who are my life. I'm not always as active and I want to disclose why. A half year ago my father was diagnosed with kidney cancer, needless to say it hit hard. He was in surgery a short while after that, they think they got it all but he is still monitored closely. All of a sudden he starts complaining about numbness in his hands, so we went back to our doctor and there might be a nerve stuck in his neck between his vertebrae. So he is going in for a scan soon and we will see what happens after that.
Because of that I didn't really had the urge to socialize online, that's in no way an offence to this great community, I was just drowning myself in writing and music making. So I'm going to be here more often now, unless my father's situation deteriorates. But I remain optimistic it is nothing something bad! :)
