Oh, I really hate seeing Henry like that! He should never, and I repeat, NEVER, have to lie on a hospital bed ever again! D: Emma worrying was really sweet though! And the reading...naaaww!!
Hey i think Emma might actually start believing! Geez, i hope Henry's going to be okay, that interview they posted today wasn't giving any info about Henry...
I don't like their usual heavy-handed "look how clever we are with the references to magic" dialogue either, but this is not the case IMO. Emma is seriously considering there is magic involved, so it is no "wink wink at the audience" thing, but a genuine concern of hers and therefore in this scene calling it by its name totally works for me. I actually wanted her to say it out loud, I think she needs to in order to start to believe.
You do make a good point about the urgency of the situation but their blunt, almost patronizing dialogue is so plentiful on this show when it is used for good reason it's hard for someone like me to recognize it.
She was already starting to before. YOu could see her reading the book for clues, etc. She just does not want to admit to herself that its real, because that would make her accept responsibility, from which she is always running away.
This is the first time she genuinely admits to herself of that possibility.
I agree that there was no "winking" this time, but sometimes it's as if the show was written for 8 year-olds to understand everything and they stray miles away from subtlety in their writing.
The dialogues could be a little bit more nuanced and not so "in-your-face-do-you-get-it-?"
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Whoa! I told myself I wasn't going to watch any of the finale sneak peeks, but I have no willpower.
ReplyDeleteAwww at Mary reading to Henry! That's so cute. I wonder if reading it will make her remember.
And is Emma starting to believe? It seems like she was at the end there. I love how worried she was about Henry!
Ahhh, hard as it may be, I'm staying far, far away from these... I don't want to see anything until Sunday!

"Like magic." Sometimes I wish OUAT wasn't so obvious with their writing.
ReplyDeleteLike magic.
ReplyDeleteYes, exactly like that!
I know it's REALLY hard but I want Emma to believe SO MUCH!
I'm really going to enjoy this season finale

ReplyDeleteWe already know that Dr. Whale has close ties with Regina. Is that he is so quick to dismiss the apple turnover?

ReplyDeleteMy internet is failing me, I can't watch the sneak peeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!!
I love how caring MM and Emma are about Henry.
ReplyDeleteI love this show so much.
Wow, I can't wait...
ReplyDeleteThat's how I saw it too. There was no winking involved.
ReplyDeleteOR just because it really makes no real sense as poisons take time to react and the quick-working poisons generally leave traces(burned tongue, etc).
ReplyDeleteHe is working with Regina, but I think he IS genuinely puzzled.

Is it just me or was the biggest thing that I took away from these the Apollo bar in Henry's backpack?
ReplyDeleteYep, these sneak peeks brought nothing new. They should release something more interesting.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Sometimes I think this show unnecessarily dumbs things down for its audience.
ReplyDeleteApollo bar! lol!
