According to Deadline NBC is in final negotiations to pickup a 10-episode internationlly produced pirate series for a March 2013 premiere, the series would get a blind pickup without a pilot.
The series is based on the book The Republic of Pirates by Colin Woodard. Set during the 10-year “Golden Age of Piracy” from 1715 to 1725, it follows some of the world’s most notorious pirates as they forge their own rogue nation, called New Providence, which became the first democracy in the Americas.
Interesting, waiting for more details...
ReplyDeleteNBC is doing alot of blind orders of international co-productions with this and Hannibal perhaps they arent happy with most of their drama pilots
ReplyDeleteA pirate show that will sink. Pun intended.
ReplyDeleteVery much cable style.
ReplyDeletePIRATES!!! That is all
ReplyDeleteKudos to NBC for taking risks with their programming.
ReplyDeleteMasterpiece or trainwreck. I see no middle ground from where I'm standing...
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of mini series filling the gaps in the schedule, nice one NBC
ReplyDeleteAll that outside financing makes the decision easier too.
ReplyDeleteYeah bring back the mini series, hell bring back movie night!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, it might work, but I have a feeling it won't.
ReplyDeleteA show like that might have worked thirty or even twenty years ago, and although I'm sad to say it,
ReplyDeleteI feel that we've lost the ability or the naivety if you like, to be entertained by that kind of "simplistic" story-line; or that it could keep our interest for long. ( unless of course there is some hidden "Abrams" plot behind it but I don't think even then! ) :)
