Series creator Matthew Weiner received sign-offs from Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, and Olivia Harrison to use the song "Tomorrow Never Knows."

AMC's Mad Men has a hard-earned reputation for historical accuracy, and it turns out that production studio Lionsgate is more than willing to finance that. In last night's episode, titled "Lady Lazarus," star ad man Don Draper takes to his chair to listen to the Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows" from their album Revolver, a rare case where a television show has used a master recording of the Beatles within an episode.

    The song got bought by the company that made millions or billions, or what on The Hunger Games. They can afford it. Since it`s obviously just not for Mad Men.

    Just to clarify a couple of misunderstandings above: they didn't buy the song, nor the rights to use it in other productions. It was a one-off licensing fee, so high because of the rarity of the granting, and because of the unique value of the Beatles' work. As a theme in the show was how everyone wanted to use the Beatles, or someone who sounded like them, I think it's great, authentic, and true to the story. So for me (not directly having to pay for it of course), I think it's worthwhile ;)
