NEW YORK – May 8, 2012 – Once again USA is putting the fate of its opening title sequence into the hands of its devoted fanbase. Recognizing how much BURN NOTICE has evolved over the last seven years, USA Network and the show’s creator Matt Nix realized the opening title sequence was due for an update. USA will enable fans to view and vote for one of two new opening titles online and on Facebook, and then make their case for their choice using #BNFanVote on its social conversation aggregator, USA Character Chatter. The winning treatment will be revealed as Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) embarks on a mission to save Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar) from federal custody as the sixth season of BURN NOTICE starts on Thursday, June 14 at 9/8c.

“As fans are our most important stakeholders, we love when we can actively engage them in our creative process,” said Alexandra Shapiro, USA’s executive vice president, brand marketing and digital. “Integral to our ongoing social strategy is the ability to not only listen, but hear what our fans are saying -- their preferences are increasingly informing how we develop, program and go to market.”

By going to www.BurnNoticeFanVote.com or the BURN NOTICE Facebook page, http://facebook.com/burnnotice, fans can view video of both sequences and register their vote starting Wednesday, May 9, through Wednesday, May 23 at noon ET. They can also share their preferences through USA Character Chatter (www.characterchatter.com ), which harnesses and amplifies the social buzz around the series by funneling in real-time a feed of text, images, and video from all social streams including Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube. The network will drive fans to vote via on-air snipes, as well as information on the BURN NOTICE website, and call-outs on social outlets including Facebook and Twitter.

“I’m thrilled to share the creative process with our fans, who have been an integral part of BURN NOTICE – from our comic book to their interaction with the show talent on Character Chatter,” said series creator and executive producer Matt Nix. “I look forward to connecting with them as we decide between the new main title sequences, one reflecting the current style and the other taking an entirely new approach. It's a very exciting start to an action-packed sixth season.”

Last season left Michael in turmoil after his long-time on-again/off-again girlfriend and love of his life, Fiona Glennane (Gabrielle Anwar) turned herself in to the FBI on charges of terrorism in order to save him from an extreme case of blackmail. With Fiona in federal custody, Michael’s emotions and nerves hit maximum capacity as he and his crew; ex-navy seal Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell) and burned counterintelligence expert Jesse Porter (Coby Bell), must band together to hunt down Anson (guest star Jere Burns) and rescue Fiona. Meanwhile, Michael's mother Madeline (two-time Emmy Award-winner Sharon Gless) remains the no-nonsense voice of reason for the gang. Exciting guest stars this season include John C. McGinley, Lauren Stamile, Seth Peterson, Kristanna Loken and Faran Tahir.

BURN NOTICE was created, written and executive produced by Matt Nix. Mikkel Bondesen and Alfredo Barrios also serve as executive producers. The series comes from Fox Television Studios and Fuse Entertainment.

  2.  I guess Burn Notice and USA have learned from what happened with White Collar last season.

  3.  What happened last season?

  4.  White Collar changed the opening credit sequence at the beginning of the season and fans had a hissy fit.  So, USA put it to an online vote and fans voted for the return of the original credit sequence.

  6. I can't wait to vote. I thought that they should have changed the credits last year; better late than never.

  7. OMG this is soo awesome. The opening sequence does need some minor tweaks and Fiona is no longer MIchael's ex-girlfriend.  (Hopefully, more than that by mid-season).  So some things need an update.  It's awesome that Matt really does take his fans suggestions into serious consideration and cares what we think.  We were able to get Seth more Nate time.  He really does listen to us.

  8. Just watched the two and right now I am leaning toward neither.  The updated old title card sequence didn't fix ANY of the old problems.  Fiona is not an ex, Sam hasn't informed on Michael to the FBI since the first half of season 1, and Maddy is as much of an asset as a nuisance to Michael these days, leaning more towards asset to be honest.  All they did was add Jesse.  They nedd to fix what they say with ALL the characters if they are updating.

As for the new one, it has more of Burn Notice's momentum but has the weird tonal change in the middle.  I'm all for Michael and Fiona's relationship (more so than any other show I watch) but it completely throws off the pacing in the sequence.  I'm 50-50 on the dossier idea too but I voted for this one simply because it doesn't make the show seem like nothing has changed in the last 5 years.

  9.  One awesome thing about burn notice, pure testosterone.  No queers, no feminazis.
