Sherlock - Mark Gatiss: "Pilot episode was not a disaster"

SherlockSherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss has hit back at speculation that the show's unaired pilot was deemed a "disaster".
Gatiss explained that the hour-long episode was only scrapped because the BBC chose to go with a 90-minute runtime.
Speaking on BBC Four series Mark Lawson Talks To, Gatiss said that he and Steven Moffat chose to put the original recording on Sherlock's series one DVD to end the potentially damaging rumours.

Seems so weird to bring it up now, on the S1 DVD they explained about how the BBC wanted 90mins eps so that's why it was redone. Confused as to why its some big thing down.

ReplyDeleteIt feels like Gatiss is like getting defensive over it? I don't know maybe he had one too many people say the pilot was rubbish and decided to speak out

ReplyDeleteAhh, I thought it was just a line response in this interview and people who are desperate for Sherlock news have made something of it. I didn't realise Gatiss was the one who had a problem :(
