-Ratings Breakdown:
ABC opened the week on a winning overnight note thanks to Dancing With the Stars, with a 25 percent advantage over basketball-populated CBS. Next was the home of The Voice, NBC, which will easily beat ABC among adults 18-49; followed by Fox and lowly The CW.
Dancing With the Stars on ABC was the top-rated show of the evening, with 12.4 rating/19 share from 8-10 p.m. Compared to the year-ago evening (15.3/23 on 4/05/11), however, this was down by 19 percent. Here is the half-hour breakdown:
Dancing With the Stars (ABC)
8:00 p.m.: 11.4/18 (#1)
8:30 p.m.: 12.3/19 (#1)
9:00 p.m.: 13.0/19 (#1)
9:30 p.m.: 12.9/19 (#1)
Lots of tears were shed last night as each contestant remembered the most memorable year of their lives. My pick to exit this evening: Gavin DeGraw.
Dancing With the Stars led into Castle, which dipped to second behind basketball on CBS with an 8.4/13 in the overnights at 10 p.m.
Keeping in mind that results for any live sporting event are always approximate, The NCAA Basketball Championship on CBS (Kansas vs. Kentucky) averaged an estimated 11.7/18 for the primetime portion from 9:15-11 p.m. Combined with a 12.5/22 in the 11 p.m. half-hour, basketball scored an approximate 11.9/19 from 9:15-11:30 p.m. Once year earlier, the basketball match-up (U Conn vs. Butler) was almost identical at a 12.0/19 on 4/04/11 (and that translated into 20.06 million viewers and a 7.1/18 among adults 18-49, based on the Live Plus Same Day results).
Earlier in the evening on CBS were encore telecasts of 2 Broke Girls (#4: 4.2/ 7) and Two and a Half Men (#4: 4.3/ 7) from 8-9 p.m.
With basketball in the competitive mix, The Voice on NBC was below average at a 6.8/11 from 8-10 p.m. (versus a 7.7/12 one week earlier). But this was still almost triple the average of a repeat of Chuck (1.7/ 3) and an original installment of failed drama The Event (2.9/ 4) on the year-ago evening. Already renewed Smash capped off the evening for NBC with a third-place 4.6/ 7 at 10 p.m. (which was 19 percent below older skewing year-ago occupant Harry’s Law).
Over at Fox, just renewed Bones moved into the Monday 8 p.m. hour with a third-place 5.6/ 9. And that led into relocated and soon-to-conclude House at a fourth-place 4.5/ 7 at 9 p.m. The time was right, no doubt, for House to end.
Last, and very least was CW duo Gossip Girl (0.9/ 2) and Hart of Dixie (0.6/ 1), which should both be exiting this spring.

I think Bones' ratings were still pretty good, though.
ReplyDeleteWell the discussion is very interesting, Actually i am looking for this discussion you explain it very well,I can say that you have a quality to explain every thing with great confidence and knowledge thanks. my blog is http://downloadgooglechromeall.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThat is it can put the basketball on Sundays not on Mondays
ReplyDeleteI´m glad Bones did fine in the new very intense timeslot!! The big promotion for the Show/episode paid off.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, according to Mr.DarkUfo Basketball had an effect on The Voice but not on House!?? Interesting and it shows once again how you are inable to write a proper,to be taken serously ratings analysis.
Still the HH/numbers aren`t good at all for House but are still better than for Alcatraz.
Good for Bones, rating were good, episode was good.
ReplyDeleteDarkUFO did not write the synopsis. It was written by
ReplyDeleteMarc Berman@TVMediaInsights DarkUFO/SpoilerTV just posts the analysis from Nielsen Media Research and TV Media Insights. Marc Berman definitely has his opinions and each week poor DarkUFO bears the brunt of the backlash for posting it.
Ha, I get used to it :)
ReplyDeleteAndy,it seems i lost points last night i ut now i ended with 182,553 but now i only 173,000 don't have the exact amount. plus ny notification button is still not working.
ReplyDeleteHart Of Dixie was a repeat last time.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it shouldn't be in the loser column this week because it's a repeat.
ReplyDeleteYou said "Losers Excluding Repeats". HART OF DIXIE was a repeat episode last night as it won't return until next Monday.
ReplyDeleteExactly, only Gossip Girl should be in the loser column this week since Hart of Dixie was a repeat.
ReplyDeleteI think Bones did pretty well, all things considering. The new time slot and the long hiatus could have contributed to people's lack of awareness, maybe.
ReplyDeleteOh thanks, DeCoder for the clarification. I´m very sorry @ DarkUFO that i put the blame on you. Yes this Marc Berman has for sure his opinion and it is not only about House, he has an irrational bias against others shows as well. Again I´m sorry.
ReplyDeleteHa no worries Sandra ;)
ReplyDeleteannoyed that Castle's ratings don't increase! silly basketball
ReplyDeleteIf The CW were a "repeat channel" for CBS shows it would bring much more money for their exutives, haha! True Story!
ReplyDeleteAnyone else notice Gossip Girl's overall numbers were lower than Nikita.Yes Gossip Girl got a 0.5 and nikita got 0.4 In Demo.Considering this Monday and Nikita Is on friday and Gossip Girl gets more ads on the CW there Isn't a whole lot of difference In the Demo.
ReplyDeleteIt justs said Gossip Girl Is a lock at renewal and Nikita Is on the bubble.
're insulting me asshole. whole stupid for you, my language is notEnglish, is the SPANISH. oky. stupid you are.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's really pathetic.
ReplyDeleteNot only that, Gossip Girl fell below 1 million viewers in the 2nd half hour again.
That's so true, then maybe the CW wouldn't have to make desperate deals with Netflix and Hulu to bail them out of their debts again.
ReplyDeleteSmash keeps on falling. Well, Season 2 is certain, but I'm afraid that next season will be the last.
ReplyDeleteI thought so too and was confused for a minute there. Geez, that guy is a dick. At least get his facts straight, sheesh.
ReplyDeleteYep. Ridiculous. I mean, Nikita's numbers are not good. But Gossip is just out of control bad. Would love to see Nikita renewed but I don't have much hope for that. :/
ReplyDeleteyep, & if they had picked up Moonlight like we all wanted them to it'd pull *atleast* 4mil each week, but hey, they're idiots & there's nothing we can do about it.
ReplyDeleteAnother Season of Nikita Is still a possibilty. It Is going to come down to which show THE
ReplyDeleteCW wants to air before Supernatural In the fall.It will come down between It and the Secret Circle for that timeslot.Ringer IS defently a goner.Hart of Dixie may go as well.
Gossip Girl Is very likely to be next season's One Tree hill.Keep Off till Midseason and then given 13 final episodes.
Look i know very well Nikita could be axed. But,The Secret Circle Isn't going to do any better than Nikita away from the Vampire Diaries.
Next season Monday nights may be enitrely new shows on the CW.At least September through january.
No argument on any of those fronts. I see Nikita going either way but am prepared for for the possibility of its end. I also thing Gossip will get a short ened farewell season. Ringer is definitely gone. And I think Hart of Dixie stands an okay chance. Probably about 65% but I guess we will see. I, too, think it's going to come down between Nikita and Secret Circle for a Friday slot. I'm rooting for Nikita, personally.
ReplyDeleteI am too with Nikita.I am prepared for possibilty It will go.
ReplyDeleteOne uncertinty Is how will the CW react to the pilots they ordered.Back In 2004 The WB axed Angel when Joss Whedon wanted to know In advance If It was coming back. They were very hopefully on their remake pilots on both Dark Shadows and Lost In Space. In the end both never made It to a series and they had a legion of pissed off Angel fans.
Hart of Dixie's final fate will depend on how many new shows the CW orders. Both It and Nikita benefit from having less pilots be ordered. If the CW picks up Arrow I am counting on It getting the post Vampire Diaires
slot.
I don't see the CW premering a new show on friday before Supernatural.
I will bet the leadin to Supernatural will come down to Nikita or the Secret Circle.I feel good on Nikita of those 2 for the slot.
I hope your right about the Nikita slot. That show suffers from being on the wrong network. I'm not quite sure where else it would work but it isn't your typical CW fare. With a few minor tweaks it would've been good for ABC or something.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, it surely does depend on the pilot orders. They have so many filming, it's difficult to gauge what and how many will make it. Looking forward to May Upfronts to see what coming our way. Or not, as the case may be.
WOO! Go Castle! :D
ReplyDeleteIt kind of depends on how well the new shows perform and how much this show will perform next season.

He's gonna be playing Detective Slaughter, and his name pretty much wraps it all up.So Nathan Fillion told me at PaleyFest a few weeks ago, previewing the April 16 episode of Castle in which former Firefly pal Adam Baldwin stops by as someone who "can't be charmed" by our favorite author. But you can bet Castle is sure gonna try, as he attempts to distance himself from Beckett and tags along with this new detective on a case involving local gangs on the upcoming "Headhunters." Check out the official ABC promo now and then click through a series of photos from it below:
