-Ratings Breakdown:
ABC led the Tuesday overnights, beating an evening of all repeats on CBS by eight percent. But The Voice on third-place NBC is expected to finish first overall among adults 18-49. Fourth was ABC, followed by The CW, which featured the DOA debut of Canadian drama The L.A. Complex.

The L.A. Complex opened with a mere 0.6 rating/1 share in the overnights at 9 p.m., which dipped from tired lead-in 90210 (1.0/ 2 at 8 p.m.) by 40 percent. Comparatively, The L.A. Complex was off by 25 percent from failed year-ago occupant Hellcats (0.8/ 1 on 4/26/11) and 76 percent from the debut of former time period occupant Ringer (2.5/ 4 on 9/13/11). This could very be The CW’s weakest series debut to-date.

Dancing With the Stars on ABC was the top-rated show of the night, with a 10.9/17 at 9 p.m. Comparatively, that built from lead-in Cougar Town (3.5/ 6 at 8:30 p.m.) by a whopping 211 percent. But retention for Cougar Town out of an encore telecast of Last Man Standing (#4: 4.0/ 7 at 8 p.m.) was adequate at 88 percent. Given its cult following, Comedy Central or TBS would be wise to keep Cougar Town alive if ABC cancels it. As for Dancing With the Stars, so long to the great Gladys Knight.

At 10 p.m. on ABC was week two of Private Practice in its new Tuesday 10 p.m. time period with a dominant 6.5/11. One week earlier, the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off debuted in the hour with a 5.2/ 9 on April 17.

On NBC, a one-hour edition of veteran The Biggest Loser (#3: 4.7/ 8 at 8 p.m.), which should not be expanded back to two hours next season, led into The Voice live results show at a third-place 5.9/ 9 at 9 p.m. Overnight growth for The Voice out of The Biggest Loser was 26 percent. One year earlier, The Voice debuted on the evening with a 7.5/12 from 9-11 p.m. on 4/26/11 (and a 7.2/11 in the 9 p.m. hour).

At 10 p.m., NBC dud reality/competition Fashion Star finished third with a 3.1/ 5 at 10 p.m. For more on The Voice and Fashion Star, click on the following: http://tinyurl.com/726wrzu.

On Fox, Glee, featuring the tribute episode to Whitney Houston, could not stop the bleeding with a second-place 5.2/ 8 in the overnights at 8 p.m. One year earlier, the musical dramedy scored a 6.6/10 on 4/26/11. Next on Fox Fox was New Girl at a fourth-place 4.0/ 6 at 9 p.m., followed by a repeat of the Zooey Dechanel sitcom (in place of Raising Hope, which concluded for the season) at a fourth-place 2.2/ 3 at 9:30 p.m.

CBS capped off the evening with repeats of NCIS (#1: 8.1/13), spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles (#2: 6.3/10) and on-the-fence Unforgettable (#2: 5.6/ 9), which is not expected back.
