The episode was good, not great. The fight itself didn't really live up to either of the previous blanket episodes or the foreshadowing from the Impressionists episode (or the paintball episodes if you want to throw them in there), the documentary style seems like a once-per-season at most thing, so having it again in a weaker form than the last one brought the idea down a bit, and though it had a ton of chuckle-level comedy bits, it was very sparse on the laugh-out-loud bits.
Like I said before, it was a very good episode, but not within the top 5 of this season, much less one of the show's overall episodes. Slight step down from last week's overall, IMO.
All of the high concept episodes of Community always include great character development and end with a little tug of the heartstrings that's not sappy. That's why this show is so great: it's never an excuse to just goof around with an homage. There's always a reason for the spoof episodes to exist within the Greendale universe.
Truly a great episode, one of the best of the series run, not the best, but Top 10 if not Top 5. It had everything, Jeff/Annie, Leonard, Pierce being Pierce, Chang being Chang, a Winger speech, Troy and Abed, and the awesomeness of a ridiculous war waging.
Not the best episode, but I loved it! A fake documentary about an epic campus pillow war, Jeff/Annie relationship, Abed/Troy friendship, Winger speech, Leonard comments, Britta pics (!)... that's Community! :-)
One of the best episodes to date. The documentary style was great and all, but the writing is where the show truly shines. Chanlorious Basterds? The North Cafeteria, named after Admiral William North? The English Memorial Spanish Cntr, named after English Memorial, a portuguese sailor that discovered Greendale when looking for a fountain that cured syfilis?
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
It didn't air here in Cleveland. Baseball was on. Damn you, baseball; damn you to HELL!
ReplyDeleteGot a message from hell: "Nah. You can keep it."
ReplyDeleteit was one of if not the best episode of community to date
ReplyDeleteUndeniably epic.
ReplyDeleteAll kinds of awesome! :D
ReplyDeleteI loved it!
ReplyDelete'Awesome' is not high enough praise.
ReplyDeleteOnly Community can make a fake documentary about a campus-wide pillow fight!

I love how they framed the episode! It always amazes me how talented the people are on this show.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely loved this episode. It's in my Top 3 of the season.
ReplyDeleteAmazingly awesome ep! Too many things that just absolutely rocked, but the documentary format in Ken Burns fashion was inspired and well executed.

ReplyDeleteThis episode shows that there is a need for the word "epic" in the episode voting system, awesome simply doesn't describe how epic this episode was :)
ReplyDeleteIf I was to ever make a top 10 Community episodes list, this would be in it.
ReplyDeleteI thought that it was a fantastic episode! It was light on the humor but I just got caught up in it that I was sad when it ended
