I missed a pretty big chunk of the episode because somebody burned something in the microwave and set the fire alarms off, thus sending outside for a little while. Not happy about that.
Anyway, I liked what I did see. Except for Castle's behavior. It's self-destructive and I don't know like it. He's also driving me up the wall. How about you be an adult and confront her instead of acting like an immature child?
And yay, Kate turned down the guy's date! But then damn it, nooooo! TALK TO EACH OTHER LIKE MATURE ADULTS.
It was horrible watching these two drift further apart. Rick becoming both careless by giving a person he did not know keys to the Ferrari. and then giving police matter to a civilian. Then he is getting reckless in devising to repel down the side of a building to get the finger prints.
As soon as I heard that Aussie doing his "limey" Accent I was right naffed off!!! Seriously they couldnt even be arsed to get an English bloke to play the part? Totally lazy casting people, rubbish!
It sure set up the next episode where they completely split! Rick is going to shadow a new det while he is so reckless and careless? That is such a recipe for disaster.
I don't get how people voted awful... really? It was a good episode. Sad, cause Castle is trying to get back to what he was but it was interesting seeing Kate dealing with the whole thing. At least she can admit (even though just to Lanie) that she "likes" Castle.
The episode was fantastic, apart from Castle's behaviour. He's acting so childish and pathetic, I'm beginning to think he doesn't deserve Beckett after all. If he really, truly loved her you would think he would have a little more faith in her than to believe she would lead him on if she didn't feel the same way. Plus, I'm pretty sure hiding evidence about her mother's murder is WAY worse than her her secret. Anyway, great episode. The Scotland Yard Inspector was wonderful, honestly I hope he will make another appearance on the show.
Yeah, the whole Castle and Beckett thing is pretty soul distroying, but DAMN I loooooved this episode. I'd happily watch Beckett and Hunt go to swanky parties and catch bad guys on a weekly basis.
Lets start with the problems in this episode... The case was not that good.. We are use to better Castle awesomness.... And.. Also.. I didnt like the Casckett ... I will explain my self.. I know that they canot continue like they started.. and that castle is angry with Beckett .. But man, let her talk when she is trying.. Its like you dont want her to speak... You'd be surprise to hear what she has to say... Also.. I miss Martha and Alexis.. but Martha the most... and I loved Lanie in it.. It's great to have some girl banding in Castle.. It makes me think of something I'd like to see. Martha Beckett and Lanie! yeahh! Well.. This episode was really Good.. But not Epic... Cant wait for more tho... :D Good night! ;)
thats the thing the writers are going by character which even if it sucks and stupid it makes sense. This is Castle, he's like this with complicated stuff especially about feelings and relationships. Cant help who they are and Beckett tried like 5 times but she gets blocked. And she has issues with that stuff as we can tell so thats another wall. But the show definitly got both of them like cenimeters away from being together then the explosion of Castle hearing beckett's secret blasted them back like 3 steps...well castle maybe 5.
I dont get all the people voting awful. Did we even watch the same episode? It was a great episode, you can just feel the build-up, and how it's all gonna heat up till the 'drama' reaches a boiling point.
Pretty sure that in 2.22 or the finale either Beckett or Castle has enough, I'm assuming Kate. She'll call him out on his bullshit and his sudden 180 when it comes to dating bimbo's again and blowing her off. And he'll call her out on lying tru her teeth when it came to remembering what exactly all happened when she got shot.
So ofc this episode didn't end up on a happy note, it's not the end of the season again. All of the episodes, starting with the one last week, are foreshadowing something big happening in the finale. What this might be is anyone's guess, but I'm rooting for a semi-hookup before the sh*t hits the fan when Castle's secret comes out. It might not seem like a big thing, but for someone as obsessed with her mother's murder as Kate...she's going to be livid.
This was a good episode, even tho the Scotland Yard's dude accent was terribly bad. I know lots of english people, and I can understand most of them, but this guy's speech was downright deplorable and gibberish half the time.
I get why people don't like Castle's childish behavior, but really I think it's fantastic, just deepens the overall storyline. We haven't seen the old Castle in a long time, it's a really nice touch to see who he is without Beckett juxtaposed against the newer version of him that he's become over the last few seasons; it just emphasizes how important she is to him. Obviously they're going to be together soon (I've been thinking midseason finale of next season for a while, but I'm getting closer and closer to changing my guess to this season's finale as the last few episodes have evolved things), but it would be rather un-Castle if they just went straight for it without taking a few more twists and steps back. One of my main criteria for quality of established shows is how well they stay true to their identity through plot evolution, and the way they're evolving the Castle-Beckett storyline right now is very Castle, if I may use the name of the show as an adjective for the second time in one post. Great episode, part of a great string of episodes recently, can't wait for the rest of the season. Plotlines are all wound up at high tension, serious stuff is about to go down, and Adam Baldwin will be guest starring for a Firefly reunion. This is tv heaven :)
Worst episode yet. I expected better of Marlowe. The behavior of Castle especially makes nonsense out of his whole season's development. They'd written him as a better man than this, and I feel ripped off by the story. I know it's the formula to keep them apart, but writing him as a moron and her as waffling and suddenly on the arm of someone else? Pushed there by Rick? Don't the writers even like Rick? Hugely disappointing. And I've been a fan since the pilot. Was. I won't be watching next week, either.
Okay, I have to admit it...I was VERY ANNOYED with this episode! It has only been one episode past the one where Castle found out that Kate knows about the whole "I love you" thing, and I know that he's hurting, but MY GOD could he be any more immature? JUST FREAKING ASK HER ABOUT IT!!!! My God this show is gonna be the death of me... -__-
I am beyond frustrated! WTF, seriously. *bad, bad siiiigh* I know it needs to get worse before it gets better, but this is really hard to handle *sobs*
This is what's going to happen: they'll confront their feelings for each other and then, Kate discovers Castle's secret..BOOOOMM and we'll have season finale! I bet..
You know, I don't care if B & C get together or not. Either way is fine by me. But dragging it out like this, and that stupid behavior from the both of them is getting on my nerves.
I was so happy with last weeks ep, for the first time this season actually. But now this pathetic excuse of an episode. I'm sorry, but I'm pretty much done with Castle.
I loved this episode, even if Castle's behavior in front of Beckett is really frustrating for us, viewers, I understand that's a typical Castle from season 1's way of acting, so immature and childish, but with a new broken heart. So sad for the the two of them, Castle and Beckett, but at the same time I know the confrontation will be a great moment, so I'm waiting patiently for next! :-)I really enjoyed the presence of Mr Hunt and Mr Nigel Winthrop! And I loved Lanie/Kate scenes as much as I did love the usually Martha/Castle ones, I hope there will be more and and more again!I think these hiatuses make this end of the season even more frustrating, it's a shame...
I am Aussie and I personally apologise for that accent. Half the time it was sliding back to the aussie accent. The sad thing is though most Americans can't tell us aussies and you poms, assuming you're english if not sorry, apart accent wise. A lot of yanks probably would see this and think that dude is a cockney for sure. Where we hear it and want to stab ourselves in the ears with a pair of shears.
Bad timing is an essential part of the show. I understand everyone wants a nice, satisfying, fulfilling ending, but keep in mind that it was only the 20th episode. Save you whining for finale. (but I've got a feeling there won't be a reason for that). Besides, it wasn't that bad. I mean, remember the ending of the 2nd season? That was a total bummer. I was devastated. Or that episode in the 3rd season where they flew to LA investigate a murder of Beckett's friend?
The greater distance between them - the more awesome will be the ending. Internet is full of rumours of Caskett sealing the deal.
I normally go for awesome - but we've entered a bit of a High School zone. For a show with such clever writing... there should have been a way to be clever about this situation. It's costing me believability points that there's any chemistry between them now. Just not feeling it after this episode... Sad.
Castle's behavior made me so sad in this episode - I know why he's doing it, and I get it, but OF COURSE it would coincide with Beckett gearing up to tell him how she feels about him. I loved her girl talk with Lanie - Lanie's clearly sick of watching them dance around each other haha.. who isn't?
I really enjoyed Charles Shaughnessy and Brett Tucker! It was interesting to see Beckett work with someone else, and it'll be fun to see Castle do the same with Adam Baldwin in the next episode.
Tensions are really rising! I can't wait until it all explodes - things need to be out in the open!
Yeah, it wasn't very believable, was it? I didn't know that he was Australian, as I haven't come across him in anything else before, but the moment I heard him speak, I was like "Wait... isn't this guy supposed to be English?" Yikes..
No worries, this "yank" was in pain, too ;) They really should have been more responsible when casting the role.. it made the whole thing really unbelievable!
I wouldn't give up just yet - I'm not happy about Castle's behavior either, but I don't think his period of acting out is going to last forever - and I don't think it's going to cause him to regress and lose all of his character development, either. He was hurt when he found out that Kate knew the whole time, especially since he's been giving her the space to figure out what her life means all season. He probably feels like she's been pitying him this whole time, so he's responding in a way that lets her know that he's not a lovesick puppy anymore. But I think he'll grow up and realize what he's doing is destructive.
I don't think he's willing to face the rejection that taking the mature route might bring. He probably thinks she's been pitying him all season, since she's not exactly been open and honest with him about what she heard. As horrible as it is, I think this is his way of trying to get back to "normal", not realizing what it's doing to her. SHE needs to grow up and tell him everything, but now she's afraid to be hurt, too. Ugh, it's such a mess, and they're both children right now haha
I don't agree with those saying Castle is being childish. I'm thinking those saying it have never been hurt in a relationship. He's hurt and he's responding by trying to 'get over' Kate whom he thinks is embarrassed by him and doesn't have deep feelings for him. He feels like he was lead on. Childish would be walking out. It may not be pretty especially when the audience knows the real facts but from Castle's perspective I have no problem with what the writers are doing with the character. Completely believable.
In real life relationships are messy, complicated and people OFTEN do things we might call silly.
I have no problem with where the writers have taken this, completely believable in my opinion. Hard to watch but so is life. I think the pay off when they do get together will be worth it and this ep was a good one.
I've never seen so many "awful" votes--52 (12%)!! I haven't seen the episode yet, but now I'm intrigued. What could possibly be so bad? I'll view and see.
I didn't think Castle was being childish like many of you think. Seems to me he was just trying to move on. He knows Kate heard what he said and she has chosen to ignore it. That's all he needs to know, as far as he is concerned. He feels like he doesn't have a chance anymore. So not childish, just a bit of reverting to old behavior.
I mean no disrespect by this, but it's gotta suck to be a shipper sometimes. This was a really good episode, and if you can't appreciate that because you're so invested in their relationship, then that's unfortunate. A lot of what makes Castle a great show has been on full display recently, it's a shame that some of the fans can't enjoy it. I remember thinking the same thing back in season 5 of Psych when Declan showed up for two episodes; they were two of the best of the series, but the shippers hated them. The same happens almost every time a popular couple-to-be goes through their growing pains. I've only ever been as mad at a tv show as shippers are getting about Castle now a few times, and if shows made me that upset every time a will-they-won't-they tilts toward the won't-they, that would be terrible, so I feel for you.
It was sort of a role reversal this episode. It's sort of a cliche but I think it was needed for this show. We have seen Castle in love with Beckett till now and we never really saw things from her side and this episode shed some light on that. Nothing came out of it tough and Beckett and Castle are still as far away from each other as they were at the beginning of the season. But surely fuels some interesting stuff for the finale. I would love to see how this is resolved finally. I guess it will lead to some confrontation and Beckett will say something and Castle will say that he knows she has been lying to him. But I hope this time around they can get together cuz I don't know how many seasons they can go on and how many stories they can come up with regarding the relationship without really moving it forward.
yeah. But you have to understand that Castle thinks that Beckett is in no way interested in him as he was interested in her and I guess in his own way he is trying to move on from it. And all the things he did in the episode was a step in that direction. I would not be surprised if he decides to leave the team at the end of the season which may lead to some confrontation that may finally- finally! bring out the truth!
Yes. That is exactly what I thought. He just found out that he said that he loved someone and that person went to all the trouble to say that she doesn't remember it rather than talk to him about it. That is as clear as a message to him that not just that she doesn't love him back, but she wants to avoid the whole issue. He wants to move on and he is doing it the only way he knows how.
Up until now, I have no problems with how they have written the relationship between them. But I think they have finally come to a juncture where they should either get together or decide it will not work and move away from that. I don't think how, after what has happened throughout this season, they can go back to the same old situation. I just don't see how.
I've never been really invested in the Castle/Beckett romance. With these shows they never really get together so it's felt like a futile storyline right from the beginning, but every show needs some dramatic tension and with two hot leads, sexual usually works pretty well. But this episode wasn't about just Castle stepping away from the romance, he moved away from the case too. His absence was felt. There was no energy between him and Beckett, as intended, but the chemistry of the show suffered. Teasing shippers with romantic ups and downs has to be done carefully. And this time it just fell flat.
It's true. I'm not a big shipper myself. I have ones I prefer but part of a tv show is the ups and downs of a relationship. If whatever couple got together and was happy all the time that would make for boring viewing.
Really enjoyed seeing Castle pull away (even if it resulted to a Rick-lite episode). Reverting back to his old self might not be the most healthy thing but he feels betrayed so I get it. Plus it was a good wake up call for Kate. However I was frustrated with her for being all prissy and indignant with Castle. Of course she doesn't know so I don't blame her, but still for me as a viewer I can't help it. Lanie/Kate was great... all of it! I liked Colin, the character, his story, his dynamic and chemistry with Kate, but I had some issues with the accent.
Only just caught up with this ep. The Castle/Beckett thing is getting pretty frustrating now - Castle's being childish and not confronting Kate (which is what he should have done in the first place not while she was bleeding from a bullet wound) and Kate's avoiding the issue as well and also having all her doubts about Castle confirmed. I hope all this frustration leads somewhere good in the next few eps.
I enjoyed the cast though - not predictable at all. And aside from a truly atrocious accent, I quite liked Hunt and wouldn't mind seeing him again.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I missed a pretty big chunk of the episode because somebody burned something in the microwave and set the fire alarms off, thus sending outside for a little while. Not happy about that.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I liked what I did see.
I..I..But...My HEEEEEEEEEART.

"
ReplyDeleteHow about you be an adult and confront her instead of acting like an immature child? " So this!
I felt kinda sorry for Kate. I mean yeah sure Castle's hurt and everything!!
ReplyDeleteBut Kate tried to talk to him and he just ran away? yeah keep going like that Castle! *sarcasm*
Wow that was hard! But amazingly done. This rift is going to be rough but I'm confident they will wind up stronger because of it.
ReplyDeleteIt was horrible watching these two drift further apart. Rick becoming both careless by giving a person he did not know keys to the Ferrari. and then giving police matter to a civilian. Then he is getting reckless in devising to repel down the side of a building to get the finger prints.

ReplyDeleteDecent ep, not the best case otw but all that took a backseat to the realtionship drama. I figure that all will come out pretty soon....
ReplyDeleteI don't get how people voted awful... really? It was a good episode. Sad, cause Castle is trying to get back to what he was but it was interesting seeing Kate dealing with the whole thing. At least she can admit (even though just to Lanie) that she "likes" Castle.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what "naffed off" means but I'm with ya! I was hoping the guy wasn't really Scotland Yard and his bad accent was a clue but no such luck.

ReplyDeleteIt was sort of a role reversal this episode.
ReplyDeleteyeah.
ReplyDeleteYes.
ReplyDeleteUp until now, I have no problems with how they have written the relationship between them. But I think they have finally come to a juncture where they should either get together or decide it will not work and move away from that. I don't think how, after what has happened throughout this season, they can go back to the same old situation. I just don't see how.
ReplyDeleteI've never been really invested in the Castle/Beckett romance.
ReplyDeleteIt's true. I'm not a big shipper myself. I have ones I prefer but part of a tv show is the ups and downs of a relationship. If whatever couple got together and was happy all the time that would make for boring viewing.
ReplyDeletethankfully I was distracted enough by his incredible handsomeness that I found a way to ignore it. ;)
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed seeing Castle pull away (even if it resulted to a Rick-lite episode).
ReplyDeleteLanie/Kate was great... all of it!
I liked Colin, the character, his story, his dynamic and chemistry with Kate, but I had some issues with the accent.
Over all GREAT episode!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the cast though - not predictable at all. And aside from a truly atrocious accent, I quite liked Hunt and wouldn't mind seeing him again.
