The Fades - Cancelled
Apr 5, 2012
Cancelled Shows UK ShowsThe Fades has been cancelled by the BBC after a single season (6 episodes). Johnny Harris (Neil on the show) confirmed it to the SFX magazine. This great supernatural drama, airing on BBC Three from September 21 to October 26, got good reviews and good audience figures (both live and on the BBC iPlayer). Thus there were plenty of good reasons to hope for a second season, but these hopes have just been shattered by the bloody BBC executives.

Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....................!I'm sad now :(
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOOOOO fuck it was just a good show, I kept hoping we we get another series.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame the BBC completely, I blame the Tory (oh sorry I mean Coalition) Government and their hate on with the BBC and cutting lots of funding etc big changes are happening with BBC 3 and BBC 4 sadly none of them good
I don't understand how a show which got good ratings and reviews got cancelled... shouldn't they be trying their hardest to keep shows like that on the air?
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete*cries*
thats just plain WRONG MAN
ReplyDeleteThat's a bummer. Not my favorite show, but I enjoyed it. It was different from the other supernatural shows out there and had some good humor to boot.
ReplyDeleteI loved The Fades when it started, but somewhere around episode 5 it started to lose me a little I guess. I think it jsut moved too fast or felt rushed to me.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I still think Season 1 was one of the better new genre series in a few years and I would have watched a second season.
Bummer, it was an interesting show. Really wanted to know what would happen to the world after Paul helped all the fades ascend.
ReplyDeletegood show ummmm really socks.
ReplyDeleteGrrr! I really liked the show! Different and interesting. Quite the loss.
ReplyDeleteThis!! Made me a bit angry to see the BBC executives being blamed, they are doing all the can with these cuts imposed on them :((
ReplyDeleteIt's rating aren't as good as Being Human or Lip Service :(
ReplyDeleteYeah it really isn't the BBC fault, I mean I love to blame networks but not this time
ReplyDeleteI loved this one, was it more expensive to make than other shows?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure the budget for the show, but a lot of the money for original dramas/shows have been cut on BBC 3 and BBC 4.
ReplyDeleteIt was probably a case of having to choose between The Fades and Being Human and BH still has the better ratings and an inbuilt fanbase. Shame we couldn't get both.
The choice was between those two and Lip Service, one had to go :(
ReplyDeleteDisappointing news - I enjoyed the first series and would have liked where they would have taken the story.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about the government - their bias against the BBC is so frustrating!
ReplyDeleteSo I guess Lip Service will be back then. I liked LS but would have much rather seen The Fades, but I would have much rather have Lip Service and The Fades than Being Human after what has happened to it. Oh well we can't have it all can we :(
ReplyDeleteOh god, wtf. Really, this was a fucking good show. The first of many of my freshman series to get the boot.
ReplyDeletei'm really sad to see this one go : ((
ReplyDeleteI've never seen Lip Service, thou I hear it's back again soon? I really liked how BH came on this year after the disappointment of last year. I hated all that Box Tunnel nonsense and the Annie/Mitchel thing, it turned into a completely different kind of show. I like how they went back to supernatural beings trying to be human people again this year. And now there's no Annie I think next series is going to be bigger than ever imo.
ReplyDeleteI agree about last year on BH, the Annie/Mitchell thing was crazy and the box tunnel storyline dragged out way too long but this season I watched the first 4 episodes and I just couldn't stand the new characters at all so I stopped watching. I may finish it just to see how things play out for Annie but other than that I have no interest anymore.
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame, I have liked Tom since last year (the McNairs and Henrick were the only thing that made it bearable XD) but it took me some time to get behind Hal. Mainly because he's so very different from Mitchell I think, but by the end of the series I have to say I prefer his take on the role of a vampire that abstains from drinking blood. You really can see the character having to control every natural instinct, and I think he's far scarier because of it.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to finish it sometime; maybe some distance from having to put up with the god awful ghost and werewolf Hal lived with before might help XD
:( but the story isn't complete!!! that's...that's so ...grrrrrrr
