Community - Chevy Chase speaks about the feud

Apr 4, 2012

Chevy Chase tells TMZ ... cussing out "Community" creator Dan Harmon over voice mail was "the right thing to do ... at the time."

Chase was leaving the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood last night ... when we asked about the feud with his TV boss.

When we mentioned Dan's name, Chevy quipped, "Who's that?" He later added, "I don't know who you're talking about ... I really don't."

Eventually, Chase did address the voice mail attack ... telling us, "I think that was the WRONG thing to say at the time ... NO, it was the RIGHT thing to say ... at the time."

Chase later said the situation had "been handled" ... adding, "I don't have anything to say about this stuff ... we got comedy to make."

Possibly a hint that he'll stay with the show another season?

  1. Jeez, I just hope this whole thing dies down soon. At least Chevy didn't seem mad about it?

  2. This was a terrible thing that happened, IMO both Harmon and Chase were both in the wrong.

But is there any chance that this argument could actually help the show? Community has gotten more widespread press from this fued than it has since the shows pilot!

  3.  Regardless of what Chase says in public, he's still mad.  You don't get a big, public "f*ck you" in front of your wife and kids and get past it this quickly.

  4. I just hope this doesn't drag on and cast a dark cloud over the entire show.

  5. I thought the same thing, but only for a moment - I'm afraid that it's just going to be BAD press for the show.  Not all press is good press, unfortunately  :/

  6. to me this looks to be the beginning of the end. Chase is a tough cookie to work with and has driven others to the breaking point in the past.. SNL archives will show this.  But then does the show REALLY need him anyway?

  7. This is not a matter of right or wrong. They are both jackasses. The situation is that their mutual jackassiness got accidentally exposed to the public. Not right or wrong, just disgusting.

  8. I meant about Dan releasing the voicemail.

  9. Since it's been handled, and "we got comedy to make", I'll take that as a good sign. Just be professional next time. And hurry up and film that tag!!

  10. I hope this is done, they collaborate and we get another good season(s and a movie)

  11. Well Chevy did say in the voice mail that Dan should share it (though he likely didn't mean for Dan to share it in such a way that it would have ended up as public knowledge as it did).
