Thanks to Nao for the heads up.
“Republic of Doyle,” “Rick Mercer Report” and “22 Minutes” will be back on the air next season, CBC Television has announced.
CBC says 14 prime-time shows will be returning next season. The others are “Arctic Air” (which debuted to the largest audience for a drama in 15 years), “Doc Zone,” “Dragon’s Den,” “George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight,” “Heartland,” “Marketplace,” “Mr. D,” “The Big Decision,” “The Fifth Estate,” “The Nature of Things,” and “The Ron James Show.”
New programming for the 2012-13 season includes “Murdoch Mysteries,” crime drama “Cracked,” historical drama “Titanic: Blood and Steel” and “Over the Rainbow,” a live competition search for theatre’s newest Dorothy.
CBC announced two weeks ago it would be cutting six prime-time series from its programming next season. Details will be announced in the coming weeks.
“Despite financial challenges, the strength of those returning favourites combined with exciting new titles is setting the stage for an outstanding 2012-2013 season,” said Christine Wilson, executive director of content planning for CBC English services.
