Season 2 (10 episodes) of the briliant new series Boss will première on Friday, August 17 at 10pm on Starz.
I assume Starz is doing so because the ratings of season 1 (starting on October 21, 2011) have been disappointing. This early start will allow Boss to start without the competition of the networks (Blue Bloods, etc), and combined with the popularity the show has gained with the positive word of mouth and the Golden Globe win, it might help a lot.
Sanaa Lathan, whom you might know from her role as Michelle Landau in Nip/Tuck or currently as the voice of Donna Tubbs on The Cleveland Show, has joined the cast, alongside rapper T.I and Jonathan Groff. They will respectively play the chief of staff of one of Kane's rivals, a bangbanger with political ambitions and a new Kane advisor.
Dee Johnson (ER, Southland, The Good Wife) is the new showrunner (creator Farhad Safina remains on the show).
Thank you, Alan Sepinwall.
