The Big Bang Theory - Seasons 1 & 2 - Blu-Ray Announced with Triple Packaging Deal

Apr 4, 2012

For the fans of "The Big Bang Theory" that have an HDTV and don't want to settle with the second-best quality available, I have just learned that the Blu-Ray versions of both the first season and second season set have a confirmed street date of July 10th, 2012. I do not currently have my hands on any of the cover arts, sorry.

Some extra info for the fans, is that both the 1st and 2nd season Blu-Ray formats will be a triple packaging deal. That's right, from my understanding, these sets will contain the DVD edition, the Blu-Ray edition, AND a Digital Download option, which can be redeemed up to two years after the street date.

In regards to bonus features, both sets are expected to contain the same bonus features as the regular DVD formats. However, the 1st season also has an additional brand-new gag reel available!

When it comes to the price, Amazon's pre-order listings may be incorrect. The studio reveals that the Suspected Retail Price for the 1st season will be $39.99, and for the 2nd season set, $54.97.

I see Amazon also has a listing for Season 3 on Blu-Ray.

  2. Yes, that is correct, however, the season 3 set for the Blu-Ray was released at the same time as for DVD, while the 1st and 2nd are year(s) later than their DVD releases :)

  3. Ahh ok.
I never looked into buying TBBT so I did not realize the delay for the first two seasons on Blu-ray or that the third was released at the same time even!

Sounds like a deal though, buy the BD set and give the DVDs (or digital copy) to a friend or relative. It's a two-fer!
