Rogue - DirecTV launches its first original drama series

After picking up Friday Night Lights after season 2 (for three 13-episode seasons co-financed with NBC) and Damages after season 3 (for two 10-episode seasons without any involvement from FX), DirecTV announced they would not save any other show from cancellation in the future.

Now, Deadline reports that this satellite broadcaster is starting to produce its own crop with Rogue, a 10-episode drama series about an undercover cop who goes after the gangster who killed her young son in a drive-by shooting.

Thandie Newton (M:i:II, Crash, W., 2012) is in talks to play that revengeful mother. Matthew Parkhill would be the creator of Rogue and Nick Hamm would be executive-producing that show.
