I loved it so much! It was adorable and then I got depressed. Then I was happy again. Leroy/Astrid and Nova/Dreamy were so cute! It was so sad when Dreamy became Grumpy.
I don't understand why the whole turn turned on Mary. Um, how about we also blame the guy who cheated on his wife in the first place? It pisses me off so much. But I'm glad Granny gave her another chance.
I also loved the Leroy and Mary bonding moment. And I think Regina falsified the David phone claim.
I guess we will be seeing another Grumpy episode in the near future since the whole "stolen ring" didn't play out in this episode. Remember he has to have the "plan" to get nova back and propose with the stolen ring that finally puts him in prison where he meets Snow.
Ohhh I love Amy Acker!! :) I agree with most of you though, it wasn't the best one but still very enjoyable.. The Grumpy/Leroy, Nova/Astrid scenes were very sweet! Also I liked that Mary and Leroy teamed up in reality since we saw the beginning of their friendship in the flashbacks a few episodes back.
Gave it a great, just due to some of the cornball factors, but I still enjoyed the ep. Still wondering as to why Emma cannot read Sidney at all, perhaps because she's just looking into a mirror...
I really liked it. The new dwarf mythology was different and kind of fun and sad at the same time. I'm still wondering...who lays the dwarf eggs? Amy Acker did a great job but her character wasn't quite what I expected.
The thing that really bummed me out about the ep is Sheriff the gullible. The end felt like it was just in the middle of this story line so hopefully we'll get to the next ep and find that she didn't buy the piece of paper she go through trusting the guy who set her up once before. What really annoys me about the dumbing down of Emma is that the savvy-ness of this character is what got me to watch the rest of the pilot.
the best thing I could come up with regarding the whole town turning on Mary is that they decided to go for that really small town Scarlet Letter approach...where, despite the fact that half the people persecuting her are guilty of their own 'moral transgressions', they publicly condemn her.
This is why I had such an intense negative reaction to The Scarlet Letter when I was forced to read it in High School.
They turned on Mary because she is a home-wrecker who intentionally went after a married man. I do think they should have showed David get the same treatment though.
Emma really is the worst Sheriff ever. Going around the law when it is convenient for her, and not doing her job properly because Mary and David are her friends. At least do a proper investigation before deciding "He didn't do it."
It was a pretty fun filler episode. Not much really going on but setting up more stuff with Kathryn's disappearance. I'd really like to see Emma take her Sheriff's role seriously.
It wasn't the most plot-intense episode, but I loved seeing Grumpy's backstory and how he became his persona. I also loved the Mary Margaret and Leroy interaction
I liked the Mary Margaret/Leroy bonding.. but poor Dreamy! My heart kind of broke when he told Nova that he's a dwarf and can't love. And then his axe turned to "Grumpy"? *sniff* The show managed to surprise me once again with a character's beginning - who knew Grumpy was originally a starry-eyed dreamer?
I'm not buying the phone records. I'm pretty sure those were tampered with.. and if Emma's so good at reading people, why hasn't she figured out Sidney's true allegiances by now? Ahhh well.
Not bad. - After that ridiculous fairy opening, this turned out to be a better episode than I expected. - OUAT damn well better explain why Emma is still getting duped by Sidney. - Why rely on those ill-gotten phone records from Sidney when they're inadmissible in court? - I loved that Leroy knocked out the power to sell those candles. - Am I alone in thinking that the blue fairy was full of crap? I think she straight-up lied to Grumpy. - Amy Acker was great. She's proven herself to be quite a versatile actress. - The Belle cameo was a nice one, albeit a bit depressing. - What does Mr. Gold have against nuns? - I like the bickering dynamic between Mary & Leroy.
I loved it, but when I see Amy Acker I always think of Fred/Illyria and the do you want me to lie to you now scene with Wesley from Angel. She is such a good actress.
The whole Sidney trickery thing doesn't make sense to me either. Especially since they brought up Emma's "superpower" again. I'm really hoping it turns out that Emma is tricking Sidney into thinking he's tricking her or something. If not, this is pretty sloppy.
The blue fairy was awful this episode.
I think that Mr. Gold hates nuns because he remembers that he's Rumplestiltskin and Rumplestiltskin hates fairies. He exploded Cinderella's godmother with sick glee pretty quickly. I'm excited to find out what the fairies did to incur his wrath.
Usually I cried with and for Spike, but I sobbed in that Fred/Illyrai/Wes scene, harder than any other time in either Buffy or Angel..almost as hard as SPN Swan Song...almost. lol
I don't get why Mary Margaret gets all the grief when David should be getting exactly the same treatment, it seems that this show often makes characters fit the story they want to tell this week rather than blending things properly. Emma's lie spotting is another example.
Loved seeing Belle again, and didn't Amy Acker look fab, I swear she hasn't aged a day since starting on Angel, lol.
I voted ok... I don't get the whole dwarf thing being hatched from eggs but whatever on that... I hate filler episodes... they need to pick up the pace... I love Amy sooo much... I prefer her darker turn on Grimm however to this sappy sweet mess of an episode, just saying
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Not the best but VERY enjoyable.

It was a great episode.
Better than I thought it was going to be but still easily one of the weaker episodes so far. Next week looks GREAT though.
ReplyDeletegood episode. loved the dynamic between mm and leroy.
ReplyDeleteBetter than I thought it would be. More MM/Leroy...they're funny together.
ReplyDeleteI guess we will be seeing another Grumpy episode in the near future since the whole "stolen ring" didn't play out in this episode. Remember he has to have the "plan" to get nova back and propose with the stolen ring that finally puts him in prison where he meets Snow.

ReplyDeletei am still wondering how she knows david is truthful but cant tell sydney is lying.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was cute. That was all there was to it really. It's always a pleasure to see Amy Acker.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the fairy skirt things remind me of jellyfish. I don't know how anyone takes fairies seriously in those things.
I think she just thinks she has a gift of seeing truth from lies she doesn't actually have one and/or Sydney is a really good lier.
ReplyDeleteGave it a great, just due to some of the cornball factors, but I still enjoyed the ep. Still wondering as to why Emma cannot read Sidney at all, perhaps because she's just looking into a mirror...
ReplyDeleteGreat episode, always good to see Amy Acker.
ReplyDeleteYeah, right...those lines of dialog, I haven't heard it since I was watching Power Rangers as a 6 year-old

ReplyDeleteDavid's the one who broke his vows, though. Mary can sleep with whoever she wants, married or not.
ReplyDeletekaah.. it was so sad when Dreamy turned Grumpy! this episode was pretty good
ReplyDeleteShe can't actually tell anyone is lying. An episode doesn't go by when someone doesn't lie to Emma and she believes them
ReplyDeleteThat's kind of what you get when you vote in someone with no actual experience and a penchant for petty crimes.
ReplyDeleteIt was a pretty fun filler episode. Not much really going on but setting up more stuff with Kathryn's disappearance. I'd really like to see Emma take her Sheriff's role seriously.

ReplyDeleteNothing much happened but still a nice episode.

I just watched that scene recently. It breaks my heart every single time. Her Fred to Illyria transition definitely proves her versatility.
ReplyDeleteUsually I cried with and for Spike, but I sobbed in that Fred/Illyrai/Wes scene, harder than any other time in either Buffy or Angel..almost as hard as SPN Swan Song...almost. lol
ReplyDeleteI really like this kind of episodes, not everything is about MM & David, or Henry... it's nice to see the other characters stories.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing Grumpy's backstory and that the town accepted Margaret again.
ReplyDeletelol exactly, I think she just has good instincts with some people which makes her think she can tell when anyone is lying
ReplyDeleteI don't get why Mary Margaret gets all the grief when David should be getting exactly the same treatment, it seems that this show often makes characters fit the story they want to tell this week rather than blending things properly. Emma's lie spotting is another example.

Mr. Gold doesn't have anything against nuns, he just wants his money on time, in full, he was the same way with Granny in the pilot
ReplyDeleteRumpy doesn't hate fairies, he just had to get rid of the godmother so he could set a chain of events in motion to get to this place
ReplyDeleteyep, that scene was sad and sweet
ReplyDeleteI voted ok... I don't get the whole dwarf thing being hatched from eggs but whatever on that... I hate filler episodes... they need to pick up the pace... I love Amy sooo much... I prefer her darker turn on Grimm however to this sappy sweet mess of an episode, just saying
ReplyDeleteLeroy and MM scenes were the best. Is the guy, who was eating carrot, a white rabbit/ March hare?
ReplyDeleteIt was cute...
ReplyDeleteMr. Gold does have something against nuns, or Rumpelstiltskin has something against fairies because his conversation with Leroy went like this:
ReplyDelete"Quite honestly, it is going to be a great relief to get rid of such distasteful tenants."
"You don't like nuns? Who doesn't like nuns!?"
"Oh, I have my reasons... and they're mine. Let's just say I have a long and complicated history with them and leave it at that."
What a nice shout out to Fringe!
