I hope worlds apart mean the two universes become completely separate and no more crossing hijinks. Like. That's the end game. HA. There we go. The titles are the answers. For the universes to heal they have to be separate. I love that idea.
As you know, constant worry about the fate of the show has been a fact of life for Fringe fans for a few seasons now. It sucks but that's the way it is. :(
I really really hope that will not be the case. Pinkner said at wondercon that
"ThE END OF SEASON FOUR WILL MAKE THIS JOURNEY WORTHWHILE AND BE A LAUNCHING PAD FOR SEASON FIVE"
So I guess in a way it would function as an ending (even though they said that about last year's finale, too, and that was anything but; okay maybe in 50 years I would've been able to accept it) and a new start at the same time. I think it will be a kind of cliffhanger that could have been last year if they don't spice things up with disappearing Peter. And for me that would've worked just fine. Still bitter that we never got to see them dealing with Henry's existence.
In Fringe related news I wanted to share, I signed up to the Fox Viewers panel about 3 years ago, they randomly select people to answer questions about their shows. I've been waiting those 3 years for a Fringe one and just had one!
It asked questions like the best things about the episodes that have aired since January, whether the eps have gotten better or worse, the best thing about Fringe and I spent 20 mins responding with all my feelings and love about that show. But it also worried me a little bit the questions they asked, I kind of got the impression they thought the decline in ratings is linked to a decline in quality of the show which is simply not true.I hope more Fringe fans got the survey and responded positively as well
So it goes: Nothing's as it seems. Wait, no, actually everything IS in its right place. Let's call in a consultant to make sure. Okay, consultant says we need letters of transit, in order to get to the right place. Yikes! We're not in the right place after all. We're worlds apart! Uh-oh, looks like this is the end game. Times two.
Yeah last year finale would have been the worse series finale ever in terms of making people suffer, I kind of just want the main characters to be in a stable place for once, S2 we had Olivia stuck over there, S3 Peter gone, it would be nice if everyone was happy and together but ready to face the next big bad. United and strong.
I don't think so. For one that would definitely not happen before the finale. And two they were not writing these episodes as the series finale and the redverse and the alternates are just basic parts of the show now.
At least I for one cannot imagine Fringe going back to having only one universe. Maybe if it was the series finale and we'd and they'd know it than I would say it's very much possible 'cause these writers know how to rip your heart out.
i agree in terms s1 finale seemed more easy to the eye since then we have pain cliffhangers . Olivia being trapped Peter vanishes . It could be just like "the end of all things" scary but not that scary really but still "end" doesnt seem so easy to my eye right now. maybe if we get renew news otherwise ill be in the panic room okay?
Would be nice. It's just I am pretty sure that I will want nothing more than to be with them when they face that new big bad. And the next. And the next. Through green and purpleverse or anything they decide to trow at us. Specially after the whole amberverse storyline I am pretty sure that no matter what they come up with I'd be up for it.
Sure you are right. But I think they are planning for more and more interaction between the worlds and the alternates and the bridge is a far more convinient way to do that than to have Olivia cross over back and forth with everyone. And before you say Jones is doing it so easily he is doing it with a very similar device to the one that started all the damage back in the 80s. Once they fixed things I can't seem them try anything similar. This is my main reason why I don't think they will not go there. Doesn't mean I am right though.
depends on their plans for s5 if indeed as they say they have and they might wrote the finale as worked for series one but open for s5 . The machine was there in order to the worlds to find a way and heal. It can't stay forever . They played too much the two worlds scenario at this point it can go anywhere. They could send us somehow to the OT the one it was suppose to happen without September changing the natural course of events in 1985 and we would still have the 2 worlds scenario. It can go anywhere . One Universe Two Universes ? As long the show is renewed still the healing the worlds wasnt adressed yet and it was important .
Well we'll see where they go hopefully beyond season 4. Whatever they choose I am sure will be great anyhow. And I would really love to see the original original timeline or as I call it the greenverse. I have a whole scenario worked out about how Peter was supposed to end up with our Olivia on our side. It even involves Jones. But if we go there I'd rather it would be more like the Lost's sideways and we would stay in the amberverse, too, or even go back to the red/blueverse and alternate between them or just visit the original original timeline for a few episode arc and be back or it could even be the ending...
I am not going to read to much into the title in relation to fringe been renewed or not, as most years, the title such sound like doomed, remember last year, 3x22, "The Day We Died" would have suggest that it had been cancelled but it still going :D
"As technology evolves, the means to communicate with each other become increasingly sophisticated. But will these means ever be sufficient to bridge the gaps between us... or will they only serve to pull us further apart?"
I think Endgame refers to RDJ's plans, and I won't be suprised if this seasons gamechanging end is the merging of the two universes. But I guess we'll see.
...It's the end.... of the World as we Know.. it... Man I even can't sing straight... Yup it seems like the end of Fringe as we know it... :/ *peep* Sorry for the language! ♥
Remember the title of 3.22. Didn't that sound scary? I think we have nothing to worry about until we know for sure, will be there the next season or not.
im pretty sure the scenario sideways its explored fully this season.I dont speak the lost sideways but the whole alernate history sideways . I think the OT might damaged beyond to repair to appear as it was before the observers ruined it .Otherwise it would be simple to go back and fix it and happily ever after. I dont think we could have a lost we see amberverse and greenverse aka OT . LOST sideways were throw as purgatory . The suggestion of the OT and AmberTimeline not amberverse[universe implies space timeline implies time ] goes to the multiverse theory aka we have another pair of worlds similar to red and blue but we cant name them red and blue since they are different worlds. So we can't really explore both sides of history at one time . It would be more than confusing even as new scenario of s5.
I think with 7 eps left and Peter now have the September "Set things right" maybe it hints to set things and events closer as it gets to the events than happened before history was changed. I can see a merging between worlds war for worlds to trying to save their unique state they have against DRJ . We cant really theorize what they will do . We should wait for the season 5 to be confirmed or [not] and then we can theorize for the new season.
I came back because I had another mini epiphany...I kept wondering why "end game" was so branded in my mind, and then I remembered that Fringe has a great a deal in common with "Alias" in terms of story engine (including the gifted Jeff Pinkner and J.R. Orci I might add)...
In "Alias" the more sci-fi Fringe plots were about a group of people who were trying to induce the beliefs and create the prophecies of 14th Century Italian inventor, Milo Rambaldi.....Two of the main anagonists, Arvin Sloan and Irina De Revko ,along with Prophet Five, were trying to create Rambaldi's 'End Game'.
Here's Alias Wiki on Milo Rambaldi for those who might be interested: http://alias.wikia.com/wiki/Milo_Rambaldi
Like Fringe, Alias gives the main character a role with in the prophecy itself, as Sydney's face, dna, and heart had been accurately drawn by Rambaldi....the End Game had to do with Sydney, desolation, and immortality-an elixir of life...(with Alias these things are left a little to viewers interpretation of what Rambaldi intended, or forsaw verses what actually happens)
The idea with using Terrorist-Fringe groups (ZFT, The End of Dayers) attempting to achieve apotheosis is a very similar idea. And so I really want to commend Lou and his David Robert Jones relativity. --I think we might be getting into more black holes and/or ways to unlock, locked universes...
Wow. I really should watch Alias. Sounds absolutely fascinated and disturbing at the same time. So you think ZFT (and its 2026 counterparts The End of Dayers) is trying to become some sort of god by destroying existence? That reminds me of Stephen King's The Dark Tower series. In that series, at the center of all existence, there is a physical embodiment of God called the Tower. All roads in all universes (like Fringe, there are more than one) lead to the Tower. Every universe exists because of the Tower. But, there's a creature called the Crimson King who wished to destroy the Tower (and thus destroy all reality) and rule the chaos that would ensue afterwards. He manipulates people and creatures from all over to weaken the bonds that hold the Tower in place. We don't know if Jones is trying to become a god over chaos, or if the Crimson King in this story is yet to be revealed. Here are some links if you want more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimson_King http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Tower_(series) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/End-World
I love Stephen King, but have only made to "Wizard and Glass" in DT! I really loved The Stand and The Shinning (especially looking forward to The Shining's sequel, "Dr. Sleep") and have been meaning to read The Talisman for some time, just finished "12/20/63" a couple months ago...What about you? Favorite King?
I am not sure, but I would agree that the idea is similar and thus could be! The End of Dayers give more into the idea of apotheosis as means to create black holes and possibly time travel 'back', which plays on loops and attempting to cheat death by attempting to create new events creating new iterations of time lines from certain points (what Peck was trying to do in "White Tulip")...but the argument still stands that you still are destroying the universe, while trying to prove yourself as 'God' and attempting life extension....but this also plays into Peter trying to save Olivia...so it's hard to say what the final messages of Fringe are going to be...an acceptance of death and fate, or a way to restore balance and playing 'God' in just a different way...more over for what reason is understanding science acceptable?
Is "Worlds Apart" the episode that John Noble said after filming he is having a hard time keeping track of how many versions of Walter he has played? or was that 4.19? The title sounds like it could be 4.20.
Yeah, I only read the first three in the Dark Tower series (The Gunslinger, The Drawing of The Three, and The Waste Lands). I've been meaning to read Wizard and Glass for a while; maybe I'll finally get around to it, now that the series is relevant to Fringe.
It's hard to say what my favorite King is, because there's a lot. IT was a good one, but a little too long (but they all are). I also read 11/22/63 back when it first came out and I liked that (WAY better than Under The Dome, but what do you expect when you rip off The Simpsons?).
There were a couple good movies based on his work, like The Shawshank Redemption and The Mist (something of a dark flipside to Fringe; another reason Walter should NOT have crossed over). Speaking of The Mist, there's something I've wanted to ask: Do you watch The Walking Dead? When it was on, I never saw you in the discussion.
I saw Mission Impossible 3, but that was a couple years ago. I don't remember when. I liked it when I saw it, though.
And I will check out Alias. I think the reason I've been holding off is, I thought it was just another spy show like Undercovers. But since there's a mythology behind it, I'm willing to give it a chance. I'll let you know when I've watched a few seasons.
I have yet to see more than an episode here or there of The Walking Dead...Initially Zombies never intrigued me, but I know that there's a cool virus thing behind it. I will probably start the first season over summer and see if I like it. (Likewise I'll let you know what I think!)
Alias is more serious than Undercovers. It thankfully doesn't have that kind of campiness, not to say that there aren't fun moments, but it's done in a charming way, rather then something forced and cheesy.
The Shawshank Redemption is a GREAT film! I have not read either the novel, or seen or read The Midst either...I did read Under the Dome, but I feel like I didn't really get into to it. I may attempt to reread it just to see if I'm in a different mood or not :p
--I have had so much work to do, that I am seriously behind on books I have been meaning to read for years! Especially since there have been a ton of TV shows I really like. I really should get on with Wolves of the Calla though since Wind through the Keyhole has been released...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
End Game makes me sad it sounds too much like a series finale
ReplyDeleteGood lord, "End Game"? I'm starting to think the writers lied; that they really were planning on not being renewed.
ReplyDeleteyeah, it sounds like the end. That makes me worried.
ReplyDeleteYeah............................. I'm worried too
ReplyDeleteOf course it probably refers to DRJ end game but still I worry
ReplyDeleteSo the last run of episodes this season is :
ReplyDeleteEpisode 4.16 Nothing As It Seems
Episode 4.17 Everything In Its Right Place
Episode 4.18 The Consultant
Episode 4.19 Letters of Transit
Episode 4.20 Worlds Apart
Episode 4.21 End Game: Part 1
Episode 4.22 End Game: Part 2
I hope worlds apart mean the two universes become completely separate and no more crossing hijinks. Like. That's the end game. HA. There we go. The titles are the answers. For the universes to heal they have to be separate. I love that idea.
ReplyDeleteAs you know, constant worry about the fate of the show has been a fact of life for Fringe fans for a few seasons now. It sucks but that's the way it is. :(

This show continues the tradition of having the most epic episode titles of all time. God, I love it. :)
ReplyDeleteI know I feel like I spend half my life worrying about the fate of the TV shows I watch, sighs
ReplyDeleteSo it goes: Nothing's as it seems. Wait, no, actually everything IS in its right place. Let's call in a consultant to make sure. ReplyDeleteNO NO NO! No End Game! Why not "Season 5 Episode 1: Part 1 and 2"?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Beth. I was trying to remember these in order.
ReplyDeletehahahah that was adorable!
ReplyDeleteYeah last year finale would have been the worse series finale ever in terms of making people suffer, I kind of just want the main characters to be in a stable place for once, S2 we had Olivia stuck over there, S3 Peter gone, it would be nice if everyone was happy and together but ready to face the next big bad. United and strong.
ReplyDeletenot a problem. i've been waiting for them all so as to see it lined up like that..
ReplyDeleteBut I don't wanna see the end game, I want to see season 5! Hopefully, it's still possible!
ReplyDeleteI don't think so. For one that would definitely not happen before the finale. And two they were not writing these episodes as the series finale and the redverse and the alternates are just basic parts of the show now.

ReplyDeletewell they ve been separated before and they worked fine. They were both in. Because the bridge wont exist doesnt mean the redVerse goes bye bye.
ReplyDeleteWould be nice. It's just I am pretty sure that I will want nothing more than to be with them when they face that new big bad. And the next. And the next. Through green and purpleverse or anything they decide to trow at us. Specially after the whole amberverse storyline I am pretty sure that no matter what they come up with I'd be up for it.

ReplyDeleteGreat. As great as Lost's "The End".

End Game? Can't help but get nervous when you read a title like that.
ReplyDeleteSeason 3's Finale was titled "The Day We Died", let's not forget.
ReplyDeleteYou'd want the original timeline to be an afterlife waiting room? Boo.
ReplyDeleteI think Endgame refers to RDJ's plans, and I won't be suprised if this seasons gamechanging end is the merging of the two universes. But I guess we'll see.
