Community - Scoop from Paleyfest

Fans at Saturday night’s Community event during the annual PaleyFest got plenty of scoop on the remaining 12 episodes of the cult comedy — but if any news had them cheering, it was the hopeful message producers sent about the show’s chances of a fourth season.

“The people at NBC love the show. We’re feeling pretty confident,” Russ Krasnoff, one of the show’s executive producers, told the crowd, to cheers that were almost as big as the standing ovation given to recent Oscar winner Jim Rash when he walked on stage.

The cast and creative team (sans Chevy Chase and Donald Glover) were on hand to preview the surprises in store for the rest of the show’s current third season, which returns March 15, following its unexpected (and much criticized) hiatus.

In the first episode back, screened for the crowd, Malcolm Jamal Warner returns as Shirley’s (Yvette Nicole Brown) ex-husband, Andre, whom Shirley is preparing to re-marry in the episode. Meanwhile, Britta reveals a secret talent as she and Annie work to make the event a memorable affair. And Troy and Abed attempt to be normal — with creepy results.

Further ahead, look for an episode that will see Annie (Alison Brie) and Abed (Danny Pudi) spending nearly the entire episode in The Dreamatorium, a video game-themed episode, the return of John Goodman as the vice dean of Greendale’s air conditioning school, and a Chang army, which will be seen in the show’s season finale.

And, much like the show’s episodes, no Community recap of any kind would be complete without a list of great quotes. Enjoy!

QUOTEABLES (PaleyFest edition):

“NBC Britta’ed it.” — Gillian Jacobs on Community‘s midseason snub

“I had a wife and now I have a charred mannequin leg.” — Ken Jeong on the characters’ changes over the years

“Some of them are coming out okay.” — exec producer Dan Harmon, giving the upcoming episodes a glowing review (He was chided by the cast for the understatement.)

“He’s the first director I’ve ever seen give the speech for a writing award.” — Dan Harmon, taking a subtle jab at The Descendants director Alexander Payne

“It’s probably the funniest thing that’s ever happened on Community — possibly in the history of the world.” — Joel McHale on an upcoming scene involving Jim Rash and a blindfold
