Alcatraz - Producers talk about a potential season two

Mar 28, 2012

Alcatraz's two-hour season finale left viewers thunderstruck after fan-favorite heroine Rebecca (Sarah Jones) met her demise at the hands of her grandfather (David Hoflin). The powers that be behind the '63s' disappearance were also revealed to be the Warden (Jonny Coyne) and a mysterious unidentified man who, TVGuide.com has learned, is actually named Mr. K (Matt Craven). Dissecting Alcatraz's Mysteries: Finale Edition -- Did our favorite character just die?! On top of all that, it turns out there are two factions of '63s working together. Their motives? Still mostly unknown. So what happens if Fox doesn't renew the series and we don't get the answers to the new mysteries raised? We turned to executive producer Daniel Pyne to get the scoop: Read more at TV Guide

  1. I hope the show gets another season, but I'm not holding my breath.

  3. Well, shoot. lol I just finished watching the first part of the Finale, not knowing it was two hours and now I know why I was thinking the "finale" that I watched sort of sucked lol Didn't realize that it was two hours! I didn't get the chance to watch it live or DVR it in time, so I had to find another way to watch it LOL

  4. Also, we don't know for sure that Rebecca is dead, do we?? I mean, I may not have known that she was "dead" so I looked it up after reading this, and it said that one of the last things we is doctors working Rebecca. Not sure if that is what happened or not. But knowing the mysteries of this show, I wouldn';t be surpised that she is alive for Season 2.

  5. Good interview and was glad they said there might be more to the tracking room, than just tracking...and that I can call that crazy-fringe-sh man a name (Mr. K).

I am hoping FOX just moves it to another night.

  6. They "proclaimed" her dead. Her heart stops....but I am sure if a we get a season two there will some way out of it. --There are TONS of really fun theories out there about how, but even proclaiming some one dead, isn't always the truth of "death"...sometimes people can just suddenly come back. She might be having N.D.E. (they kind of alluded a few episodes back that Rebecca might have prophetic dreams...it would be interesting IMO if they would play with that here...)

  7.  It would make a much better pairing with Fringe than The Finder that's for sure! Fringe (8:00 PM) - Alcatraz (9:00 PM) two JJ shows in one night.

  8. Glad to hear they will continue on with the format and tone of the later episodes if a Season 2 is greenlit. There is now a lot of potential for the series...

I just wonder if taking 13 episodes to establish the true potential was too long for most viewers to deal with. Most viewers do not care about re-shoots and showrunner changes and story edits (I find it all fascinating XD), they care about the finished product and if they do not connect with it quickly many do not have the time or patience to keep watching.

Mr. K is such a disappointing name. I mean "K" stands for Potassium (on the Periodic Table) not Silver... and has nothing to do with blood transfusions! Ack! XD

  9. Whilst I would definitely welcome another season I don't really expect one and if it means having to choose between Fringe and Alcatraz (which sadly it might) I will always choose Fringe.

  10. Actually I think it's interesting....

In Fringe we have the alleged Mr. X....if anyone read the Beyond the Fringe Comic Issue 3, Ch. A (I believe) "The Adventures of The Pattern", they play Mr. X off as Mr. ZFT....There is also mention of a special "Pelican" Coil that Mr. ZFT steals from Bishops lab.. (Pelican Island is the translation of Alcatraz's name meaning, and one can assume Mr. X and ZFT are playing to Walternate in "The Day We Died" and whom ever is in charge of these pattern events in the season 4 timeline Jones, or whomever.)

The finale also alluded to the importance of BISHOPS in a "game of chess" (think Fringe season 4 finale titles)....

Then we have all the Dr. B's.....Lucy's modern surname is B., we have Beauregaurd, Bishop, and Brezzel in Alias...

If any letter looks similar to X it would be K (or half an X)

  11. I hope the show gets the renewal 'cause it´s a great one! Maybe, if they change the show to another day, it will improve.
And also... I need to know everything about the secret of 63's !!!

  13. They have spent almost the entire season setting the groundwork for what could be a very exciting season 2.  I hope they don't drop the ball.

  14. My favorite character was Sylvane...

  15. I like him a lot too! I would love for he and Tommy to become series regulars. If there was one thing that was missing from the finale, it was Jack Sylvane!

  16. I wish they would also consider the opinion of European Viewers! Over here, we don't have much choice in good TV-series but Alcatraz sure deserves that title. I've loved the show and truly hope, they will renewe it for a second season!

  17. Fingers crossed.  I won't cry if it's not renewed, but I hope it is.

I don't want to see another good Sam Neill mystery drama go to waste like Happy Town.
