Reajustments in FOX's lineup on Tuesdays

FOX announced a few changes in their 2-hour comedy block starting on March 6. Why is a baby crying on the picture ? Well, because it could potentially mean bad news for Raising Hope.

Raising Hope was expected to stay at 9:30/8:30c, after New Girl originals. It won't. From March 6 to April 3, the witty, original and funny FOX comedy (I'm not talking about New Girl) will have a new time period at 8pm. Season 1 aired at 9pm, season 2 (episodes 2.01 to 2.15) aired at 9:30pm and now episodes 2.16 to 2.20 will air at 8pm.

From January 17 to February 21 :

- Glee, episodes 3.10 to 3.14, at 8pm.
- New Girl, episodes 1.10 to 1.14, at 9pm.
- Raising Hope, episodes 2.11 to 2.15, at 9:30pm.

From March 6 to April 3 :

- Raising Hope, episodes 2.16 to 2.20, at 8pm.
- I Hate My Teenage Daughter, episodes 1.05 to 1.09, at 8:30pm.
- New Girl, episodes 1.15 to 1.19, at 9pm.
- Breaking In, episodes 2.01 to 2.05, at 9:30pm.

From April 10 to May 22 :

- Glee, episodes 3.15 to 3.22, at 8pm.
- New Girl, episodes 1.20 to 1.24, at 9pm.
- ???? at 9:30pm.

What happens on February 28, you ask ? A special 2-hour episode of American Idol, is what happens. Yay. Coca-cola.

Burning questions arise as Raising Hope's status on FOX is far from being secured for next season : Will Raising Hope's season 2 finale air in mid-April ? Will Raising Hope resume its 9:30pm timeslot on April 10 ? Why is I Hate My Teenage Daughter still around ? Will New Girl ever come up with an original story ? What is the Island ?

Time will tell, but the fact is, with Glee coming back for the final 7 weeks of the 2011-2012 season, there won't be enough room on Tuesdays for Glee and New Girl and Raising Hope and Breaking In and I Hate My Teenage Daughter. Which one will stay at 9:30 for the last weeks of the season ? If Breaking In performs better in March than Raising Hope now, then the Chance family could have ran out of luck. If Breaking In flops, then Raising Hope could get its time slot back. No third option, I don't really think FOX is considering keeping I Hate my Teenage Daughter in April and May.

— FACT : Glee will be on hiatus for 49 long, long days : from February 21 at 9:01pm to April 10 at 7:59pm.
— FACT : Raising Hope and New Girl will remain on the air throughout March.
— FACT : Breaking In gets a much, much better timeslot than expected : instead of having repeats of New Girl as a lead-in (what was assumed until now), it gets originals of New Girl as a lead-in (kicking Raising Hope out of that comfy timeslot in the process).
— FACT : I Hate My Teenage Daughter pretty much flopped from November 30 to December 21, nonetheless it was expected to return after 90-minute episodes of American Idol this Spring, but it turns out it's integrated in the 2-hour live action comedy block on Tuesdays instead of the New Girl reruns.
— FACT : Raising Hope must get a third season or else I'll go badshit crazy.

There are many ways to see this news about Raising Hope going on the 8:00-8:30pm time slot in a month.

1 - FOX thinks Raising Hope is strong enough to anchor the evening in Glee's time slot.
2 - FOX has the decency to offer a full night of originals and thus pairing Raising Hope with new episodes of another sitcom (until now we thought the 8-8:30 time slot was going to consist of reruns of New Girl for 6 weeks).
3 - With only 2 episodes left (assuming Raising Hope is all new this March with 5 original episodes), Raising Hope might get 2 post-American Idol episodes. This show will have 90-minute episodes, and you got to have something to fill the 9:30pm-10pm slot on those Wednesdays. On April 10, Breaking In will have 7-8 episodes left, which could indicate it could keep the 9:30pm time slot until May 22. Raising Hope, however, will only have episodes 2.21 and 2.22.

1 - In front of NCIS and without New Girl's support, Raising Hope's ratings will undoubtedly get even lower.
2 - Pairing the amazingly awesome Raising Hope with the excruciatingly bad I Hate My Teenage Daughter, which flopped last December after AI 0.5, is not really a tokken of good faith and it might look like FOX has zero expectations for the 8-9pm time slot while it seems like they're giving a fresh start to Breaking In with the best lead-in possible...
