Bill Pullman has been cast as the President on 1600 Penn, a new pilot in contention for the 2012-2013 season on NBC.
A few hours ago, the lovely Brittany Snow has been cast as his daughter.
A sitcom set in the White House that could eventually, say, replace Whitney (series... hum, "season" finale on March 28), Are You There Chelsea ? (for now she's there, but after March 28 she won't), Up All Night (finale on April 12), Bent (in and out of NBC in three weeks, from March 21 to April 4) or Best Friends Forever (the show has no chance to succeed after Betty White's hidden camera show, but it's a win in itself to avoid the summer burn-off by airing in Are You There Chelsea's time slot, starting on April 4).
There is no way in hell that 1600 Penn could replace Community or Parks and Recreation since NBC wouldn't dare cancelling any of those two comedy treasures.
Oh, what the hell, I'm tired, here's a copy and paste of Deadline's news :
Bill Pullman will be playing an U.S. President again, this time on the small screen. The Independence Day star has been tapped to play President Dale Gilchrist in the NBC comedy pilot 1600 Penn, co-created by Josh Gad, Jason Winer and Jon Lovett and directed by Winer. Produced by 20th TV, it is a dysfunctional family comedy where the out-of-control oldest son (Gad) returns home and becomes not only it’s biggest liability but also the glue holding everyone together. The twist is that this family resides in the White House. Like his character in blockbuster Independence Day, Pullman’s President Gilchrist has military background — he is a heroic ex-Marine.
