Torchwood star Eve Myles has expressed her hope that the show will return.
The actress told CultBox that the sci-fi drama should come back in some form to give fans "closure".
"As far as I know at the moment, everything's still very much on hold," she explained. "Nothing's going to happen in 2012, I know that much for sure. But who knows what will happen in 2013? Maybe a movie, to kinda draw a line under it."

ReplyDeleteOkay. Sorry. I have seen u corrected these "error" twice. Nex time, i know.
ReplyDeletethrice, actually
ReplyDeleteShe's right; there's too much out there & yet nothing for the fans to hang for. End it once it for all & say so or continue it. Either way, they're going to lose fans.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how this show really fell in terms of ratings and acclaim. Even though I hate where it went storywise yeah people do deserve closure, maybe a 90min TV movie would be enough.
ReplyDeleteI have never really thought fans "deserve" closure of anything really.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy a show while it's on and be prepared for shows to end in ways you may not like. I always appreciate when networks give a already cancelled show a "goodbye" season, but I don't think fans deserve one necessarily....
I thought it was a miracle that Torchwood found its way back to TV in the first place. As much as my sense of entitlement would love to disagree with you, I cannot.
ReplyDeleteI think shows with a mystery element or long-running shows of any sort should try to apply closure to their programs if it's reasonably plausible to do so but a lot of times it's just not possible.
Yeah the cliffhanger finale is frustrating, but I think it's part of the inherent problems that are built into the US TV world...
ReplyDeleteLook at UK TV and usually seasons are more self contained. If the series does not return you almost always feel you have closure. I really like that aspect of telling a story and ending the story in a season. I think it often makes for a stronger season than a finale episode that has to set up any subsequent season as well as end the current season.
The irony here is that Torchwood is a UK show that was co-opted by Starz in the US. Not only did they drag the series down, but they made the finale more American (in the bad way) too!
You had me until you started blaming Starz for what happened to Torchwood. That's all on Davies and the writers he hired. Starz gave him the leeway to make the series he wanted and this is what he came up with.
ReplyDeleteHa!
ReplyDeleteWell I don't know who is more to blame, but I think there is enough to go around to network and showrunner frankly...
I quite liked how CoE ended so I was placing more on Starz for maybe pushing Davies in that direction.... I have no proof of that though....
I'm not sure I need closure. Miracle Day made me lose interest...it was such a disappointment after Children of Earth. If it does come back the show needs better characterisation, tighter storylines and less episodes.
ReplyDeleteI hope for another shorter season like CoE. Miracle Day suffered from the higher number of episodes, so I don't need to see that again.
