-Ratings Breakdown:
It was a clean overnight Tuesday sweep for CBS with its combination of NCIS (12.5 rating/20 share), spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles (10.0/16) and freshman drama Unforgetabble (7.4/12). Year-to-year, however, the network dipped by 12 percent, with Unforgettable down by 16 percent from year-ago 10 p.m. occupant The Good Wife (8.8/14 on 1/11/11). NCIS was the top-rated show of the evening, of course.
In week two news, ABC sitcom Work It did not work it with a third-place 3.7/ 6 at 8:30 p.m. Comparably, that dropped by 12 percent from its week-ago debut (4.2/ 6 on 1/03/12), with retention out of lead-in Last Man Standing (#2: 5.4/ 8 at 8 p.m.) of a disappointing 69 percent. Chances are benchwarmer Cougar Town will be put in as its replacement at any moment.
Leading out of Work It at 9 p.m. was Celebrity Wife Swap at a third-place 3.9/ 6 at 9 p.m., followed by Body of Proof at a second-place 5.1/ 9 at 10 p.m. One week earlier, Celebrity Wife Swap opened in the Tuesday 9 p.m. hour with a similar 4.2/ 6.
Over at NBC, two-hours of The Biggest Loser scored a modest 4.3/ 7 from 8-10 p.m., with only three-tenths of an overnight rating point separating the four half-hours as follows:
The Biggest Loser (NBC)
8:00 p.m.: 4.2/ 6 (#3)
8:30 p.m.: 4.2/ 6 (#2)
9:00 p.m.: 4.4/ 7 (#2)
9:30 p.m.: 4.5/ 7 (#2)
NBC’s Parenthood, as always, lagged in the overnights with a distant third-place 3.4/ 6 at 10 p.m. One year earlier it was a 3.6/ 6. But the variation among adults 18-49 will be considerably narrower between the three networks once the fast affiliate results are released.
Elsewhere, Fox populated the evening with encore telecasts of Glee (#4: 2.3/ 4), New Girl (#4: 2.5/ 4) and Raising Hope (#4: 2.1/ 3). And The CW aired a movie called Table For Three, which averaged a mere 0.6/ 1 (#5) in the overnights from 8-10 p.m.
