Already been a while since I saw it, but it was promising. What really helped me was Vulture's guide to understanding Luck, because there were a lot of things related to horse racing I didn't quite understand. But I definitely hope it gets better because the pilot just showed promise, but there wasn't that much to it...
The cinematography was incredible! The use of light and shade, both in cinematography and in the dialog was awesome. The cast was top notch of course!
I really like the setup of the track rats winning their pick 6 but not cashing in right away. IT lets us see them really turn on each other and under this new stresser of having money and notoriety just hanging out of reach... Who will crack first?
Loved the behind the scenes working of Ace also. Wanting back into the game without having to actually put his name on anything. even if he gets back in, will the lack of his name on documents come back to haunt him?
I think I found a new series to love! It does not have the obsession possibility like Game of thrones, Boardwalk Empire or Breaking Bad.... but this looks like it could be brilliant in its own right!!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
