Jan 30, 2012

Fox has ordered a half-hour comedy pilot produced by and starring The Office‘s Mindy Kaling.

The project, which was originally in contention at NBC, finds Kaling playing a Bridget-Jones type OB/GYN trying to navigate both her personal and professional lives.

If the show gets picked up to series, Kaling would exit The Office.

  1. Okay, The Office season nine is getting worse by the minute. If this and the Dwight spin-off are both picked up, season 9 will down two more cast members. And of course, Steve.

Please just end the show already!

  2. Can't they wait till the demise of The Office? Which I'm sure would either be the current or next season. I really don't want to see Mindy's character leave the show. She's somewhat satisfying.

  3. I would love for this to get picked up. Especially if Mindy is involved in production/writing, too. She is extremely talented. Some of my favorite episodes of Office are the ones she wrote.

  4. I agree! I wish they would just end it somewhat properly, it just hasn't felt the same without Michael

  5. The cast from The Office is jumping ship. Smart.

  6. I guess the writing is on the wall over there at the Office, between this and the Dwigt spin off. I'd be interested in seeing what Mindy can do carrying a show as I do know that she is quite a talented writer and producer, but I haven't heard her stand up yet but I have good things.

  7. Not a big Office fan but Mindy is always a highlight of the show for me. Would like to see her in something fresh and new.

  8. I think Mindy Kaling is fantastic, so I wouldn't mind checking this out - but what does this mean for The Office?  With the rate in which characters are leaving for other projects, there won't be much of a project left.  Hopefully they just quit while they're (sort of) ahead and don't attempt to salvage the pieces.

  9.  Oh, lordy!  If you think 2 Broke Girls has a lot of vagina jokes, wait until this show premieres.  Kaling's tally will top it in no time.
