STV Best of 2011 TV Awards - Day Three - Best TV Episode, Most Anticipated TV Show Of 2012 & Best New TV Show

14 Dec 2011

Hey Guys,

On the second day of voting, there were a few surprises in store, with some shows over performing my personal expectations, whilst others have failed to impress anywhere near the levels you would expect! It has made for a day of voting where the three winners all won by a comfortable margin...

As a result, it has become clearer that whoever you support, you need to be spreading the word amongst fans to be voting for them too, or you could find several big STV shows going home empty handed come the final results!

Today sees three tough to call polls, with firstly the six most nominated TV episodes for 2011 battling it out. Shows such as Castle, Supernatural, Fringe and House all see more recent episodes nominated for the title, whilst Vampire Diaries and Game of Thrones are episodes from the first half of the year! Who will win? That is to be decided now!

Secondly we have the most anticipated TV show of 2012 poll, with five shows set to air not too far into the new year battling it out for a chance to claim their first STV award before they have begun!

Finally, six shows which began in 2011 are battling it out in the Best New TV Show category, with a wide range of shows hoping to take home that crown!

This is it. The final competition of 2011 continues.

Let the battle commence!

  1. I voted Fringe for best TV episode, for Alcatraz, and then finally for Game of Thrones as Best New Show....

  2. House MD 20 Vicodin
    SMASH
    Homeland

    ReplyDelete
  3. I voted Fringe for best TV episode - Those We've Left Behind

  4. Fringe (Surprised ATWLB was the episode though, IMO there were much better episodes)
    Awake
    Homeland

  5. Confession:

I'm very apathetic toward the choices for best episode and most anticipated show.  Each entry in the "best TV episode" category had some great individual performances but as whole episodes none were really that special.  As for "most anticipated new show," if two of them survive the season without getting pulled or cancelled, I'll be very surprised.

The one tough call is Homeland Vs. Game of Thrones in the new series category.

    My picks:
"As I lay Dying" - The Vampire Diaries
    "Alcatraz"
    "Homeland"

    ReplyDelete
  6. Game of Thrones - Baelor (although I was tempted to go with SPN - Death's Door!)
Alcatraz (another close one since I'm eager to see Awake)
American Horror Story (ANOTHER close one! It was either AHS or GOT!)

    Lol, that was tough!

  7. Best TV episode - Castle Kill Shot  , Most anticipated show - Alcatraz and Best new show - Game of Thrones

  8. For me:

    Game of Thrones - Baelor
    Alcatraz
    Person of Interest

    ReplyDelete
  9. Voted for Deaths Door. Just wonderful, top quality TV.

    ReplyDelete
  10. The Vampire Diaries - As I Lay Dying
    Alcatraz
    Game of Thrones

  11. Same, Adam, ecept "Person Of Interest' got my Best New Show vote.
Great show, and I love all the nods to Fringe in it and with the guest stars.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I voted for Death's Door.  I still believe it had Emmy quality acting.  It won't win any awards.  They are on the CW.  That doesn't change what I saw.

    ReplyDelete
  13. voted supernatural - deaths door ( although the vampire diaries episode was amazing)
    awake
    once upon a time

    ReplyDelete
  14. Fringe - "And Those We Left Behind" y en Best New TV Show Game of Thrones

    ReplyDelete
  15. Castle's "Kill Shot" was an easy choice for me in the first category, and Once Upon a Time was equally so in the last - that being said, I haven't had a chance to see an episode of Homeland or American Horror Story yet, both of which seem to have gained a ton of fan support

    ReplyDelete
  16. Didn't vote for poll two or three... Don't know any of those shows. For the first one, I voted for Death's Door. Excellent episode, definitely one of the best this season.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It was hard to choose the first one between Castle and TVD, but Stana's acting skills made me vote for Killshot, she was amazing on that episode. The other votes went for Alcatraz and Once Upon a Time.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I went with Deaths Door, Alcatraz, and nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  19. "And Those We Left Behind", Awake, and American Horror Story.

  20. SmallvilleSupernaturalCastle14 December 2011 at 02:39

I voted for both castle's kill shot and supernatural's deaths door (its a tie but if i had to choose between the two i would choose death's door probably). I voted for most anticipated Awake (only because im a very big fan of jason issacs). Both stories are good and characters but Awake has that. Alcatraz was my 2nd and finder is my 3rd. Lastly I voted for Person of interest as best new show. OUAT is a tie with it but between the two i choose POi

    ReplyDelete
  21. "Baelor" for Best Episode (where is my "Crawl Space" ?!?!?!?!?!), Awake and Homeland.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 1 "And Those We've Left Behind" - Fringe
    2 Awake
    3 Homeland
(I ALMOST would've voted for Game of Thrones for the amazing, gorgeously made and unbelievably promising season 1, but after this sunday's episode of Homeland that show just blew up into one of the best tv shows I've ever seen... Claire Danes is absolutely beyond incredible, and Damian Lewis' storyline just keeps getting more and more twisty and intriguing! They really set up for a huge finale!!)

  23. Ah, finally an easy day.  I voted for Death's Door, a episode that left me howling mad and surprisingly emotional.  It's not often episodes make me this tense or invested.  Bobbbbbyyyyyyy!  As for the other two, I haven't heard of a few of the shows in the most anticipated and the others don't put me in a tizzy.  I abstain.  I vote none of the above for the new shows.  Again, I feel like I am missing out with Homeland.  Must find a dl soon.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Tough choices.
Have choose between the episodes I have watched.
Only can't choose the last category because I haven't been watching those ones.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I voted for Death's Door. Fantastically written, directed & acted. One of Supernatural's best episodes.
Don't know any of the shows in the second poll so I didn't vote.
In the third poll I've only seen Game of Thrones & Once Upon A time, and I can take or leave both, so I didn't vote.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Please Dahne. It's a matter of homeland security...and you watching a show take off into awesomeness. Seriously, with Breaking Bad ending next season, Dexter being pretty damn awful this season (except for Deb, because she's as brilliant as Claire Danes' character this season!) and a bunch of shows either faltering or in constant threat of being cancelled (um Fringe...) it's nice to have a great show take off for once.

    ReplyDelete
  27. For best episode I had to vote Supernatural.  Death's Door blew me away on all fronts (performances, story, just everything).  Much as I loved/enjoyed almost all of the eps in this category (Never been a House Fan.)

Most anticipated show....at this point in the season the only show on the list that *I* am anticipating is Alcatraz.  The show left off the list that I'm looking forward to is The River.  (Looking forward to checking out Awake, but I don't think it's going to air for very long.   Looks well done but too complicated for HUGE gigantic network style numbers.

Until Homeland aired I would have said Game of Thrones easily.   But, I had to vote Homeland.

    ReplyDelete
  28. What do you know...everyone I voted for had JJ Abrams name on it. Fringe, Person of Interest & Alcatraz.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I voted for Touch because... KIEFER

    ReplyDelete
  30. I cannot overstate how much I love Homeland at the moment - no show has gripped me so instantly and simply not let go, and I'm not even American. I adore Fringe and it leaves me on the edge of a nervous breakdown religiously, but Homeland hits a realism that Fringe doesn't touch; with Fringe we know its the writers with the insanely cool long-term plan, with Homeland its the characters playing the long game, and as a viewer I don't even know what board we're on!

    ReplyDelete
  31. It's soooo hard. But tbh, I don't think any of those eps were the best of the year. Interesting they were all voted in to duke it out.

    ReplyDelete
  32. This was a bit difficult to me because most new TV shows are AWESOME!
So I Voted for Fringe {what's new ey??? ;P} , Alcatraz and American Horror Story...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Fringe

    Alcatraz
    GoT

Sad to not see a Breaking Bad episode on there.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Best TV Episode - Death's Door (Supernatural)
A brilliant episode, even though we saw very little of the brothers in it. Seeing Bobby struggling to escape  a Reaper in his own mind was amazing to watch and we also saw how Bobby truly is a warrior, fighting till the very end to be able to help his boys. As I Lay Dying (The Vampire Diaries) was a great episode too - fast-paced, emotional and tense - but I absolutely had to go with Death's Door here.

Most Anticipated TV Show of 2012 - None
The TV show that I was most excited for in the 2011 lineup - The Secret Circle - let me down terribly, so much in fact that I left it after only two episodes. So I've decided not to be all psyched about a new show until I have watched a few episodes of it.

Best New TV Show - Once Upon A Time
Sci-Fi/Fantasy shows are my favorite and I kind of like fairy tales - especially Snow White. So a show about fairy tales with Snow White at the center was sort of a dream come true for me.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Castle, Alcatraz, and Once Upon a Time :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Today was a bit tough in the third category for me since Game of Thrones and Homeland are the 2 best new shows of 2011 by leaps and bounds...

Best Episode - Baelor (Game of Thrones).
Most Anticipated New Series - Alcatraz.
Best New Series - Game of Thrones.

I would have said Awake was most anticipated, but with all the production issues Alcatraz has passed it by for me.

Baelor was a rare perfect episode from start to end.

Game of Thrones noses out Homeland for me, but just barely. I think Homeland is one of the best new drama series I have watched along with Boardwalk Empire and GoT, but the scale and achievement of Game of Thrones is just larger than either BE or Homeland. The epic scale, the amount of detail in the made up world, and the difficult adaptation from the book makes it the best new series for me.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Best TV Episode - Fringe
    Most Anticipate Show - Alcatraz
Best New Show - Homeland (though it was close with GOT)

    ReplyDelete
  38. I hear you about Most Anticipated..... other than Smash I don;t thin any have potential to be a hit and even Smash has the uphill battle of being a musical series!

I think 3 may survive, but they are all just barely  leaning over the fence towards survival.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think anything new on NBC has an uphill battle regardless of the genre.  Smash has a lot of early buzz so it may catch on enough to build a sustainable audience but a show like Awake is something I consider DOA until I'm proven wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  40. House, Alcatraz and Once Upon A Time

    ReplyDelete
  41. Same as you, Mr. fringeobsessed :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. 1) Fringe - And those we left behind
    2) Alcatraz
    3) Homeland Best new show of the decade

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yeah NBC is a double edged sword for new series. With such low numbers on all their series a new show probably has a better chance to survive with mediocre ratings, but even NBC's reputation is just so bad now that even if a new show of theirs is a hit for the network it will likely still have only "good" ratings compared to other networks.

With such bad lead-ins and lead-outs they just have almost no chance of having a true legitimate"HIT" series on their network. I hope Awake or Smash prove me wrong but I am not holding my breath......

    ReplyDelete
  44. Best new show was sooo hard.

I went with Homeland in the end but could have easily gone with AHS or POI

    ReplyDelete
  45. Game of Thrones, Alcatraz and Homeland

    ReplyDelete
  46. More touch choices, went with GoT for best episode, Alcatraz for most anticpiated and AHS for best new show.

    ReplyDelete
  47. this poll was hard to choose best episode i had 2 more choice house & spn and new show once upon a time.

    ReplyDelete
  48. "as i Lay Dying" - Vampire Diaries
Game of Thrones - best new show

as much as Once upon a Time is awesome Game of Thrones takes my vote.
and i voted for As I Lay Dying because it had everything. mainly because of Brotherly love.and Stefans dark side emerging.

    ReplyDelete
  49. fringe
    alcatraz
    and once upon a time

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anticipated Show - Alcatraz

New Show - Game Of Thrones
Haven't checked any of the others but I think I'll give Once Upon A Time a try during the holidays.

    Best Episode - Death's Door
That was a surprise..Don't get me wrong, the episode was brilliant, definitely one of the best episodes of the season but I wasn't expecting a nomination. My guesses for best episode from SPN were Meet The New Boss,Hello Cruel World or an episode from season 6.I'm not complaining, just surprised. : )

    ReplyDelete
  51. Voting was easy enough for me today.

    1. Death's Door, no competition. I'm surprised that this is the Supernatural episode that got nominated (I was expecting 'Meet the New Boss'), but definitely not disappointed, IMO Death''s Door was as brilliant as it was heartbreaking, and I hope it gets the win it deserves.

    2. The Finder. Purely because I don't think I've even heard of any of the other shows (except for Alcatraz, which really doesn't sound like my cup of tea).

    3. Once Upon a Time. This was the toughest of the three for me, I was torn between OUaT and Homeland (neither of which I have actually watched, but both of which are on my hellatus watch list), but I eventually went for OUaT because I plan to watch that one first! :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Castle, Alcatraz and Game Of Thrones! :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Kill Shot, Alcatraz and Game of Thrones.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Alcatraz and GoT. But didn't vote for episode as I haven't seen more than two of them.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Snap! Me too

    ReplyDelete
  56. I really hoped Hello, Cruel World would make it as a Supernatural episode, IMO it was by far the best SPN episode of the year. Death's Door was amazing... but not amazing enough. Thus, I voted for Baelor.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Fringe "And Those we Left Behind," American Horror Story, Alcatraz.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I hate that Revenge was not up for Best New Show, so went with Person of Interest, my second favorite. Death's Door won out for me over As I Lay Dying and picked The Finder, really enjoyed the ep that was on Bones last year.

    ReplyDelete
  59. So half way through the day, and two of the polls are very winnable for anyone at the moment.

As for one of the polls, it's looking a bit tougher to win!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm with you on Emmy quality but I would include writing & directing.  I have talked to myself often asking if I had to pick between this ep and Swan Song what would it be and myself has not come up with an answer. ;)  Judging the eps as a whole would go with Death's Door, but dang that ending to Swan Song just stays in my head.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Couldn't help but vote for TVD's "AS I Lay Dying" it's still my favorite episode..

I chose Alcatraz for my most anticipated series for 2012

and I was about to vote for OuaT for best new show but then my undying love for PoI got there first ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  62. Fringe-And Those We Left Behind....i do love Castle but Fringe..well there is no comparison for me, this episode of Fringe just blew me away.

Alcatraz-that is who i voted for but i am also looking forward to Touch,it really was a hard decision.

Homeland..This one was the hardest for i love Once Upon.Homeland, well for those who watch know exactly why Homeland is the one.Its to bad they didn't have best Drama, and best fantasy, then you could have had the best of both worlds,ha!

    ReplyDelete
  63. "Death's Door," "Alcatraz," and "Game of Thrones."

    ReplyDelete
  64. Fringe, Alcatraz, American Horror Story!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I agree the first poll was tough, I'm not sure if you've watched American Horror Story, because I have, and that made it a hell of a lot tougher still aha

    ReplyDelete
  66. Death's door, Alcatraz and Once Upon a Time (though that was really hard one)

    ReplyDelete
  67. Game of Thrones.. and POI is developing nicely :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Best TV Episode: Fringe - "And Those We Left Behind"Most Anticipated Show: AlcatrazBest New TV Show: Game of Thrones (sorry Once Upon A Time)

    ReplyDelete
  69. Best TV episode: "Kill Shot" (Castle)
    Most Anticipated: N/A
Best new TV show: Once Upon A Time

    ReplyDelete
  70. Fringe + OUAT. I am not planning to start anything new so no vote in that category...

    ReplyDelete
  71. Best TV episode: "Kill Shot" (Castle)
    Most Anticipated: Awake
Best new TV show: Once Upon A Time

    ReplyDelete
  72. Apparently I really need to watch Homeland and Game of Thrones - however, I've seen Once Upon A Time so it had to get my vote since I'm addicted to that show.

    ReplyDelete
  73. supernatural but tvd and god  were also great.

    homeland for new show.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Well said.  NBC still needs that one gigantic hit to anchor its line-up.  Maybe "The Voice" can help with that like AI does for FOX.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I voted Fringe for best episode, Awake for most anticipated show and Once Upon A Time for best new show. I was really tempted to vote for Game of Thrones for best ep & best new show!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Game Of Thrones "Baelor", Alcatraz, Homeland. So sad for Fringe and Once Upon A Time :-(

    ReplyDelete
  77. I voted Supernatural for the best TV Episode.
