STV Best of 2011 TV Awards - Day Four - Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Most Missed Show & Best Police Procedural

15 Dec 2011

Hey Guys,

We're now officially half way through the voting phase, and there currently has been a decent spread of shows winning awards, as well as taking the bronze and silver medals.

Day three saw Best New Show go to the wire but in the end perhaps wasn't a totally unexpected result, and the Most Anticipated Show of 2012 was a fair stroll in the park for one new show. The biggest twists and turns occurred in the Best TV Episode poll, which after seeing two shows battle it out for the top spot for the first half of the day, saw a surge of votes swing the ship in another direction.

Today there are three more polls in day four of six, with the first being the Best Supporting Actor/Actress category, which sees some big names from some big shows battling it out for the victory!

Secondly there is the Most Missed Show Award, which sees three popular show of recent times battling alongside two shows which have been absent for a while now but should return in 2012!

The final category today sees five Police Procedurals do battle for the crown of being the best of its genre in the Best Police Procedural Show!

This is it. The final competition of 2011 continues.

Let the battles commence!

  1. I voted:

John Noble - Fringe (and you're crazy if you don't :P)
LOST - Favourite Show of all time. Easy choice!
Person of Interest - Really good as the seasons gone on!

  2. Oh, this was hard! I miss Cougar Town, but I also miss Lost.

I also voted for Jim Beaver.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I voted Norman Reedus, Mad Men, and NCIS.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Jim Beaver. I watched Lost after it had already finished, does that count?

    ReplyDelete
  5. John Noble
    LOST
    Don't watch procedurals

    ReplyDelete
  6. Today's polls are much easier for me:

John Noble (with apologies to Jim Beaver & Candice Accola)
    24
    Person Of Interest

    ReplyDelete
  7. John Noble, 24 and Psych!!! (Castle didn't make it?? :O I love NCIS and Criminal Minds, but I can see any Psych ep a thousand times and still enjoy it!!!)

    ReplyDelete
  8. Jim Beaver (he deserves some hardware for Death's Door)
    24
    Bones

    ReplyDelete
  9. Jim Beaver - always, but most recently for Death's Door.
I don't miss any of the shows in the second poll, because I was never a regular viewer of any of them.
In the third poll I voted for NCIS. It's the only one I watch regularly, because most procedurals are so boringly similar.

  10. I'm surprised Castle wasn't up there too.   If Castle were up there, I don't think I could have voted for anything else.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Jayne Lynch- Glee
    Cougar Town
    NCIS

Side note super shocked by these polls...a lot of show and ppl i thought would make it havent :(

    ReplyDelete
  12. John Noble - Fringe (as much as I love Norman Reedus, it just has to be John Noble!)
    LOST (duh!)
Psych (although POI has been impressive so far).

    ReplyDelete
  13. Norman Reedus for The Walking Dead, Lost, Person of Interest

Can't beliebe that Jane Lynch even got nominated. Her character is nothing but a revision of what it was in the first season. Really can't stand Sue since season two anymore and as far as season 3 shows we won't see anything else than Sue trying again to destory the Glee-Club in all the different ways, which I think is really lame because Jane Lynch could do better than that.

  14. John Noble (Jim Beaver a close second though)
    Cougar Town
    Bones

    ReplyDelete
  15. This was tough! Tough to decide between Noble and Reedus. Tough to decide between Person of Interest and Psych. No problem with most missed.

    I chose:

    John Noble
    Lost
    Person of Interest

    ReplyDelete
  16. Easy ones since from all entries I only could vote for those I have watched:
    John Noble
    LOST
    Person of Interest

  17. This was the toughest set for me so far:

    1. Jim Beaver for Supernatural. I uhm-ed and ah-ed over this for ages, because John Noble is amazing as Walter Bishop, but in the end I went with Jim Beaver for his outstanding performance in Death's Door (as well as solid performances throughout the rest of the season). My decision was also swayed by the fact that I haven't been a huge fan of the Fringe story arc this season, so I'm more inclined to vote for Supernatural anyway.

    2. I abstained from voting here. The only show on the list that I've actually watched was Lie to Me, and I don't miss it at all, I stopped watching halfway through S1 before Cal Liteman caused me to put my fist through my TV screen.

    3. Again, a tough one. I oscillated between NCIS and Bones for a while (never seen Psych or Person of Interest, and I stopped watching Criminal Minds at the end of S5), but I eventually went with NCIS, for consistent excellence. Bones has been a bit up and down over the last few seasons, but NCIS is something I can always count on enjoying. Even if I do have to put up with Vance!

  18. twoeasy and one hard today.
jim beaver as bobby in supernatural is amazing
i miss lost more than any other show that ive watched thats ended so that got my vote
for the last one, i was ready to vote for criminal minds because its amazing and IMO has far passed NCIS in awesomeness in recent years but just before i hit vote i saw psych down the bottom of the list. i had never really thought of psych as a police procedural because its a comedy but it is. then i was torn between two of my favourite shows. i ended up voting psych because it never gets a lot of love and i would probably watch psych of criminal minds if given a choice

    ReplyDelete
  19. WHAT? Where is Castle in the Best Police Procedural section?!? That's pretty lame...

    ReplyDelete
  20. watch psych! its amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Best supporting actor-John Noble-Fringe John has put in 4 years of outstanding performances,he is truly
    wonderful to watch.

Most missed show-LOST, this was hard because i also miss 24 but in the end my heart belongs to Lost.

Best police procedural-Toss up between NCIS and Bones again another difficult decision in the end i went with NCIS.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 1. John Noble
    2. LOST
    3. ?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yes it does! :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Jim Beaver-Supernatural (after Death's Door he deserves it sooo much~)
Lie to Me- Actually loved that show... sad to see it go
Psych- Makes me laugh so much ;)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Candice Accola - Liking her character better than Nina Dobrev's, not going to lie.
Cougar Town - Been rewatching the old episodes over and over again.  Just hurry up and come back already!
And Bones :) Loving this season.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Actually voted for two for once. :) First poll, Jim Beaver, of course, and third poll, NCIS.

    ReplyDelete
  27. See Madison isn't this better than Lurking, lol :)...I was about to leave you a message when i came across you here.So welcome to Spoiler TV,and just have some fun! See you soon. :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. John Noble. If he doesn't win I'm gonna side-eye all of you. Just so you know.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Absolutely. LOVE Jim Beaver in everything he does. And Accola kills on TVD. But Noble is no-brainer!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ditto for all the same reasons

    ReplyDelete
  31. John Noble and LOST were very easy choices...however it was difficult choosing between Person of Interest and Psych but in the end i had to go with Psych...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Argh and the polls are hard again.  How dare you make me choose between Jim Beaver and John Noble, Adam!  You are too cruel.  Same goes for Bones and NCIS.  Thank goodness for the selections in the most missed poll.  I didn't watch any of them so I can't miss them.  Abstain in that category.

    ReplyDelete
  33. who's Jayne Lynch?
only voting for Bobby, don't care about the other polls.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love Bones better, and like NCIS cast better, but I think that CM is the best procedural on air right now in quantifiable terms.

Sorry Jim, I had to vote for Noble, his work is just damn outstanding (though, Death's Dorr made it much harder) two years ago, Lynch would have been competition, but now her characater is just silly, such a shame for such a talented comediane :/

An I just miss Cougar Town so freaking much!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Damn, I'm supposed to choose between John Noble and Jim Beaver? AGHHHHHHH...

In the end I went with:
    1 -CENSORED-
    2 Mad Men
    3 Person of Interest

    ReplyDelete
  36. Caroline is what makes that show for me...Hard to vote against her. :|

    ReplyDelete
  37. Cool. Lost it is then.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Jim, Lie to me, and voted Bones but ... lets say its hte memory of it being awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I second your AGHHHHHHH....and copy your CENSORED.  That is an impossible choice.  I can't imagine any other poll being harder than that one.  Too bad you can't vote twice.  I would vote for each.

  40. Best Supporting Actor: John Noble
    Most Missed Series: LOST
    Best Procedural: Person of Interest

Another easy selection for me with John Noble taking the first poll easily. I like Norman Reedus and Jim Beaver, but Noble has been superb this year portraying the altered Walter... Hmm... Waltered? No.

The Most missed series did not require even a second to ponder. LOST it is. One of the best series of all time is missed no matter who it is compared to and the only competition in the poll was Mad Men, which returns to TV next year. So no contest.

The Best Procedural I did have to think about for like2 or 3 seconds. Criminal Minds may have gotten my vote a year or two ago, but this season has been pretty bad honestly. Like some ode to fans , an attempt to apologize for last year by making almost every episode more about the team than the unsub. So Person of Interest slid into the top spot for me.

    ReplyDelete
  41. best Supporting Actor --  Easy!  John Noble for Fringe.  I would not have watched more than two episodes of this series  were it not for his performance.

Most Missed Show  --   This one was really difficult.  Cougar Town and Mad Men were easy eliminations since neither show appealed to me.   evhh
4 was an easy elimination because...well.. I stopped watching after it became clear the writers had a tendency to go into a season with no idea how to get out of it.  BUT...between Lie To Me and LOST....really enjoyed Lie To Me but stacked up almost an entire season of eps left unwatched on my DVR.  So, I picked LOST.  I don't actively miss it at all.  But it just defaulted as my pick.  Now if Firefly, Dollhouse or Dark Angel had been on the list..... these are shows I miss so much I rewatch what did air.

Best Police Procedural -- I love all of these shows.  Psych (how is this a procedural?) is a little too uneven for me.  Bones and NCIS I wait and watch on the DVR when I have time.  So it's between Criminal Minds and Person of Interest, both of which I watch within 12 hours of airing.  So...hmmm.  I think it'll have to be Criminal Minds....from a sheer numbers game.  I love Person of Interest.  Best new procedural this season...but  the hit miss ratio is a little high since CM has more eps in the can.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Best Supporting Actor/Actress - Jim Beaver (Supernatural)
Jim Beaver's Bobby is (was?) an important element to the show and its dynamic. The only other actor on the list whom I have watched is Candice Accola (The Vampire Diaries) but I really don't like her character so I wouldn't vote for her either way.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Be scared, Jilly I completely agree. :) Jim Beaver has been outstanding for 6 years. I did vote for Lost, since I still want it to give that ending another shot, and NCIS. (19 million people can't be wrong I guess!)

    ReplyDelete
  44. John Noble, Lost and Psych!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I know Noble is the best actor named in the first category, but I gave my vote to Reedus anyway. Daryl is awesome and so are the McManus brothers, this guy is just cult!
Also voted Lost and none in the last category, I'm so sick of police procedurals.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Jim Beaver, because he's brilliant and one of the nicest people I know.

Lie to Me, cos it's the only show of those I watched XD

NCIS, watched it from the beginning and never thought about stopping for a second. Awesome show with great cast.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I voted for John Noble Fringe

    ReplyDelete
  48. I voted for:
    John Noble - Fringe (obviously)
    Cougar Town (Damn abc!!)
    NCIS

    ReplyDelete
  49. Easy choices for me in these polls; John Noble, Lost & Psych.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Voted for Candice Accola (I'm very biased when it comes to TVD :D), 24 & again Person of Interest ^_^

    ReplyDelete

  52. I voted John Noble, Lie to me and Criminal Minds

    ReplyDelete
  53. Jim Beaver, Lie to me and Bones

    ReplyDelete
  54. I voted for John Noble (if it was separate from best female, I would have also voted for Jane Lynch, but John Noble is definatly the one that deserves this), LOST  and Criminal Minds (that was the hard vote, I happen to also love NCIS, so it was hard to decide)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hehe, I think Bones has become a drama :) just kidding.
    Good choices! But very hard!

    ReplyDelete
  56.  Jim Beaver------He made me cry-- none of the others ever have.
If an actor doesn't provoke emotions what good is he.

Lost-- the most convoluted series ever!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Jim Beaver was Emmy acting in Death's Door, but like him in any show, Voted 24 & Person of Interest.

    ReplyDelete
  58. John Noble
    Lost
and since Castle is not on the list, NCIS

    ReplyDelete
  59. I totally agree, Adam.
In addition to Person Of Interest being a great, innovative show, I love all the nods to Fringe, and the Fringe guest stars on there that continue to show up-like John Mosley!! And we learned recently that Reese has his own Markham. lol

    ReplyDelete
  60. Best Supporting Actor: John Noble - FringeMost Missed Show: LostBest Police Procedural: Bones

    ReplyDelete
  61. making me choose between Psych and Bones is cruel.  Cruel I tell you!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Jim Beaver -SPN
    Mad Men
    Criminal Mnds

    ReplyDelete
  63. John Noble
    LOST
    Criminal Minds!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Same here.  Sometimes voting objectively isn't very enjoyable.

    ReplyDelete
  65. John Noble - Fringe of course!
Lie To Me - (would have picked Lost but at least they had a chance to end their series)
Bones - Because I've never watched any of the other shows

    ReplyDelete
  66. Easy, easy, easy! Norman Reedus because he's Daryl Freakin' Dixon. Lie To Me because I miss it everyday. And Criminal Minds because it's the current love of my life. BAM!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I voted:

John Noble (not really any competition)
Lie To Me (haven't seen LOST yet, plan on it though)
    Person of Interest

I don't understand how Jane Lynch got nominated...
