Actor® Awards Ceremony will be Simulcast Live on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 on TNT and TBS at 8 p.m. (ET)/5 p.m. (PT)
LOS ANGELES (Dec. 14, 2011)—Nominees for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® for outstanding performances in 2011 in five film and eight primetime television categories and for the SAG honors for outstanding action performances by film and television stunt ensembles were announced this morning in Los Angeles at the Pacific Design Center’s SilverScreen Theater in West Hollywood.
SAG President Ken Howard introduced Judy Greer (“The Descendants”) and Regina King (TNT’s “Southland” and the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Social Media Ambassador) who announced the nominees for this year’s Actors®. SAG Awards Committee Chair Jo Beth Williams and Vice Chair Daryl Anderson announced the stunt ensemble nominees.
The 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live nationally on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 8 p.m. (ET)/5 p.m. (PT) from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center. An encore performance will air immediately following on TNT at 10 p.m. (ET)/7 p.m. (PT). Recipients of the stunt ensemble honors will be announced from the SAG Awards red carpet during the TNT.tv and TBS.com live pre-show webcasts, which begin at 6 p.m. (ET)/ 3 p.m. (PT).
Of the top industry accolades presented to performers, only the Screen Actors Guild Awards are selected solely by actors’ peers in Screen Actors Guild. Two nominating panels–one for television and one for film–each composed of 2,100 randomly selected Guild members from across the United States, chose this year’s Actor® and stunt ensemble honors nominees. Integrity Voting Systems, the Awards’ official teller, mailed the nominations secret ballots on Wednesday, Nov. 23. Voting was completed at noon on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011.
Final voting information will be mailed via postcard on Friday, Dec. 30, 2011. The entire active Guild membership across the country, numbering approximately 100,000 actors, may vote on all categories. Online voting is encouraged. In keeping with the SAG Awards commitment to sustainable practices, paper ballots will be available only upon request which must be made by Monday, Jan. 16, 2012. All votes must be received at Integrity Voting Systems by noon on Friday, Jan. 27. Results will be tallied and sealed until the envelopes are opened by the presenters at the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony on Jan. 29, 2012.
The Screen Actors Guild Post-Awards Gala benefiting the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, will be hosted for the 16th consecutive year by People Magazine and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF).
The complete list of nominations for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards follows. A replay of both announcements will be available for viewing on TNT.TV and TBS.COM.

MARY TYLER MOORE
ridiculous, where are shows like SOA, Homeland, P+R or Community?
ReplyDeleteA lot of the ususal suspects with very few surprises other than Jessica Lange for AHS (which is an awesome nominiation in my opinion).
ReplyDeleteit's just getting so tiring to always see the same nominations...... is kyra sedwick that good to be nominated every single time for every single award? where are claire danes or mireille enos? of course sofia vergara, of course tina fey, of course julianna margulies...
ReplyDeletei am pleasantly surprised to see eric stonestreet or jessica lange, though, and to not see jim parsons or neil patrick harris. danny pudi should be among the nominees. i'm not even going to get into the sci-fi issue...
i am not saying they aren't good, they most certainly are, but they are not the only people deserving of recognition.
she's incredible!
ReplyDeleteThere are some serious missed opportunities for nominations this year. Parks, Homeland, SOA and they dropped the ball on actor's too. No Aaron Paul, Jim Parsons, Claire Danes... What is going on? I will say I'm happy for Julianna Margulies and The Good Wife getting noms again as well as Jessica Lange being the one pleasant surprise.
ReplyDeleteWhere in the world is Homeland? Did this people pick these out of a hat, this is seriously flawed. I really cannot believe Claire Danes and Damien Lewis are not included, they really fucked up on this one....
ReplyDeleteI cannot even begin to tell you how pissed off i am about this, their own peers shunned them, they really need to take there heads out of there ass and watch Homeland..GRRRRRRRRRRRR
So happy for Jessica Lange. She deserves recognition for her amazing work on AHS this year. But Claire Danes should've been there. That's just outrageous.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, happy for all the Breaking Bad recognition.
Will this be an original episode or a repeat coz it reads like a repeat?!
ReplyDeleteAnd this is why american award show are nothing but a joke havent taken one seriously in years.
What is it with awards shows and not nominating Community?
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way these actors were nominated by other actors, so we can't even blame old judges or something.
ReplyDeleteDelighted to see her here, but it seems that the SAG awards have a different format from the Emmys, where Jessica would be in the supporting actress category (and would win, I'm certain).
ReplyDeleteThese are good! I hope Jessica Lange wins.
ReplyDeleteYawn, Yawn, Yawn, Yawn, Yawn.
ReplyDeleteI think that the SAG need to learn how to use a couple of different buttons than ctrl-c and ctrl-v. It wouldn't surprise me if the save file on their computer says SAG Nominations 2010/2011...
Homeland has staggeringly been overlooked! Add to this the fact that some great comedies like Community which gets nothing but praise has been shunned!
Thank god Game of Thrones and American Horror Story are there or you could deduce that the voters had accidentally watched last years shows again :P
I don't understand the logic on giving the same wards to the same shows/people. Surely the people who vote are saying that American TV is limited to anyone on the outside.
Mary Tyler Moore honoured with a Life Achievement Award
ReplyDelete- Is this going to air on TV?
Cowboys & Aliens nominated for stunt in motion pictures. Yes.
thanks.. I'm kind of unimpressed with the list as a whole, as it's just the usual
ReplyDeleteDear Modern Family stop taking Park and Recreation nominations, you are an average comedy that as been pretty poor this season.
ReplyDeleteDear Homeland see you in 2013 when you will wipe the floor
Dear Award type people stop forgetting about Fringe and Justified.
Maybe the SAG awards use the same eligibility period as the EMMY Awards and PGAs etc.... IF that's the case the Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones awards are for Last year (of course in GoT case) and not this year's production. Likewise for Breaking Bad.
ReplyDelete"Despite taking place in January, the PGA Awards use the same edibility period rules as the Emmys, which are held in September: from June 1, 2010 to May 31, 2011. That automatically excludes all summer/fall cable fare, including new Showtime drama Homeland, the most recent seasons of Breaking Bad, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Louie, etc., as well as any new fall broadcast series. "

Shaking my head at the ridiculousness right now.
ReplyDeleteI love awards season and this is not a bad nominee list at all.
ReplyDeleteThe usual suspects are there because well, they deserve to be and some new blood has been nominated too.
Why would anyone blame this list? It has great choices!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, you can't even throw Community an Ensemble nom?! But you'll give it to Glee which is so messy and does not make god use of the cast. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteSeconded. Except for the Modern Family part because I haven't even been watching it this season. But from what I've heard, you're right.
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time arguing with most the nominations I see honestly. Sure, I may have added some Sons of Anarchy cast or Homeland... but who do you take out? I cannot fault the comedy nominees at all, but I don;t think Community is deserving of awards unlike many on here. *Shrug*
ReplyDeleteNEw shows don;t always get the respect they deserve at award shows... I would have put up Homeland for Female Lead, Male Lead and Ensemble.... or at least one of them, but I think most the nominees are deserving so I can't complain too much.
Haven't Olyphant, Goggins, and Margo Martindale got award show love before? I know Margo won an Emmy which is the biggest TV awards show of them all.
ReplyDeleteHomeland..?
ReplyDeleteand where is Sons of Anarchy??? Homeland .... shame shame shame!!!
ReplyDeleteHomeland isn't in the list because it is not inside the qualifying period. Look at Dexter, the nominations are from season 5.
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing until I saw American Horror Story nominated....
ReplyDeleteNo Community + No Homeland = No Credibility.
ReplyDeleteI cant believe they dissed Homeland really no nominations?!
ReplyDeleteGood job to TBBT and Glee!
My sentiments exactly.I could not believe Claire Danes,Damien Lewis and Homeland should be up there. How could there peers ignore there performance? To me it was a slap in the face,i hope the Golden Globes treat them better.
ReplyDeleteStill no love for community, so depressing
ReplyDeletehappy for the good wife and Julianna Margulies!
ReplyDeleteNo Fringe or Justified? Kathy Bates over Anna Torv or Claire Danes just seems wrong.
ReplyDeleteSince in the individual nominations Game of Thrones was ignored, it is an obligation that they win the ensemble award. And the stunts who surely had a looot of (great) work.
ReplyDelete
