-Ratings Breakdown:
It was another slam-dunk overnight Tuesday victory for CBS with its combination of NCIS (11.9 rating/19 share – No. 1 for the evening), spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles (10.1/16) and recent entry Unforgettable (7.3/12). But compared to year-ago Tuesday 10 p.m. occupant The Good Wife (8.6/14 on 12/14/10), Unforgettable dipped by 15 percent. Overall, CBS dropped by nine percent on the evening.

In season-finale news, a 9-11 p.m. edition of The Biggest Loser on NBC was above average at a 5.3/ 9 in the overnights. And that should be enough to win the 10 p.m. hour among adults 18-49. But compared to the year-ago fall season-ender (6.9/11 on 12/14/10), tired The Biggest Loser declined by a noticeable 23 percent. Here is the half-hour breakdown:

The Biggest Loser (NBC)
9:00 p.m.: 4.9/ 8 (#2)
9:30 p.m.: 5.3/ 8 (#2)
10:00 p.m.: 5.5/ 9 (#2)
10:30 p.m.: 5.5/10 (#2)

Earlier in the evening on NBC was 8 p.m. special, William & Kate: Inside the Royal Marriage, at a not so royal 4.0/ 6 (#4) at 8 p.m. One year earlier, game show Minute to Win It averaged a 4.4/ 7 on 12/14/10.

On Fox, deteriorating Glee, which no longer has a lock in the 8 p.m. hour among adults 18-49, finished a distant second in the overnights with a 5.4/ 9. New Girl at 9 p.m. was below average at a third-place 4.8/ 7 in the overnights at 9 p.m., followed by sophomore Raising Hope at a 3.7/ 6 at 9:30 p.m. Regardless, New Girl is still the show to beat in the 9 p.m. half-hour in the demo.

Over at ABC, Tim Allen sitcom Last Man Standing dipped to a series-low 4.8/ 8 at 8 p.m. (#3). A repeat of Last Man Standing, which replaced canceled Man Up!, followed with a 3.7/ 6 (#4) at 8:30 p.m. Next were encore telecasts of sitcoms The Middle (#4: 3.4/ 5) and Suburgatory (#4: 2.9/ 4) from 9-10 p.m., followed by a repeat of Body of Proof at a third-place 3.7/ 6 at 10 p.m.

As a reminder, Work It, which focuses on two recently unemployed car salesman (Ben Koldyke and Amaury Nolasco) who dress as women by day to work as pharmaceutical reps, debuts on ABC
at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT out of Lasting Man Standing on Tuesday, January 3. It leads into Celebrity Wife Swap at 9 p.m., which also opens on Jan. 3.

The CW closed this second Tuesday in December with encore episodes of 90210 (#5: 0.6/ 1) and Ringer (#5: 0.5/ 1).

  1. I love this regular update on our beloved (and not so) shows!

  2. I love seeing how these shows are tracking, and I appreciate the effort, for sure, but I hate seeing GLEE fall apart. I still love the show, and it's sad to know it probably won't survive after next season.

  3. Last Man Standing dipped cause people stop watching ABC in December. Is any show NOT down this month? lol When will they learn?

  4. What's sad about Glee, is the show has improved (still has some major consistency flaws that bug the living hell out of me) from an AWFUL Season 2. How do the ratings compare to Season 2 I'd like to see, as I didn't really look at that time.

  5. I for one like the update, I just hate the person doing it. He needs to keep his personal opinions out.

  6. Season 2 usually had something like 11million and 3.9 in rating, if i remember correctly. Towards the end it was something about 9 million, but the finale had almost 11 million again.
