New Orleans actor Lance E. Nichols got one of the second season of “Treme’s” most rousing moments, as dentist Larry Williams cheered on wife LaDonna’s return to feisty form. The elevator scene? Killer. Still.
Saturday (Nov. 26), Nichols takes on a different kind of role in a vastly different setting. In “Storm War,” airing at 8 p.m. on Syfy, he plays a U.S. Senator who gets on the wrong side of a mad scientist who can weaponize weather.
And, yes, all hail breaks loose.
“It’s a crazy thing, man,” Nichols said, of the Lafayette-shot film. “It’s not based on any kind of reality, but that’s the Syfy channel. They do stuff like that. They have a very loyal following.”
As does “Treme,” which has begun shooting season three in New Orleans. Nichols has done some scenes for the new season, but – typical for all involved in the show – revealed little more than confirming his participation.
“I’m back,” he said. “And there are some interesting things that are starting right out of the chute.”
It’ll be hard to top Larry and LaDonna’s big scene near the end of season two. (Nichols’ daughter, Indigo, who participated in that scene as Assistant District Attorney Brigitte Baron, the focus of LaDonna’s ire, also has a role in “Storm War.”)
“That scene resonated with a lot of people,” Nichols said. “I have people stop me all the time and tell me the same thing. Particularly women.”
