A little turned off by the Paranormal Activities comparisons..... I will be watching nonetheless and I have relatively high hopes for this series! Serialized adventure mystery? Yes please!
First ad I saw I was somewhat blown away and thought it could be the next LOST... as much as I hate to look for the next anything really.
Since then I have read about it being compared to paranomral activity more... but maybe that's just because the PA writer/producer is involved with The River as writer, producer etc?
I don;t have high hopes based on the ads or actors (since I don;t knwo them as well as I know half of the LOST actors), but I do have high desires for it to succeed!
Most the serial shows this new season have been mediocre with the one exception being Homeland. Possibly Hell on Wheels too, but its a bit early to tell only 3 episodes in and ratings declining slowly still....
I actually haven't seen any of the Paranormal Activity flicks. It's a horror sub-genre I tend to find all flash and little substance. I think I'd be more impressed if they were pushing good successful mystery writers for this show given the premise. (Though, considering, that most ghost stories are mysteries at their heart...someone with a great track record at ghost stories would make me feel better too.)
I've actually missed all publicity since the initial fall season announcement. Have they announced the premiere date yet? I have January in my head.
Tuesday, February 7 9:00-10:00 p.m. “The River” It will be an 8-episode season with no possible back end. It couyld be renewed for a longer season 2 though...
Until I saw Spielberg's name in the trailer I was looking forward ot this... but after the rubbish that is Falling Skies and Terra Nova I am suddenly a whole lot less interested.
I was really looking forward to this, but this trailer was pretty disappointing and went in a pretty much different direction than I hope this show will go.
I'm scared about Spielberg... It should please be better than "Falling Skies" and "Terra Nova". Anyway, I don't like "Paranormal Activities" and "LOST" was the best thing ever. So, I say one more time what smart people are saying here: "I hope the LOST factor outweighs the Paranormal Activities factor."
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Oh, this looks good! I really want to see it. (Never actually heard of it before.)
