-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS remained the network to beat in the Tuesday overnights with its combination of NCIS (#1: 12.8 rating/20 share – top-rated of the evening), spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles (#2: 10.2/16) and recently introduced Unforgettable (#1: 7.6/13), which just snagged a full season episode order. Retention for Unforgettable, which ran neck-and-neck with Body of Proof on ABC, was 75 percent put of the 9:30 p.m. portion of NCIS: Los Angeles. Consider this similar to also older skewing year-ago time period occupant The Good Wife.

Given the noticeable erosion on Fox, CBS could also reign supreme among adults 18-49.

Over at ABC, week four of Tim Allen sitcom Last Man Standing finished second at 8 p.m. with a 6.4/10 in the overnights, which was on par with recent weeks and should be enough to warrant a full season renewal. Lead-out Man Up! at 8:30 p.m. continues to lose considerable steam, however, with a third-place 4.4/ 7 at 8:30 p.m. Comparably, that dipped by 31 percent from Last Man Standing (in the higher HUT time period), which means the audience does not necessarily like what it sees. Three-week overnight track for Man Up!: 5.2/ 8 – 4.7/ 7 – 4.3/ 7).

ABC picked up plenty of steam at 9 p.m., of course, with the live Dancing With the Stars Results Show at a dominant 11.7/18. With David Arquette gone, that leaves five: Ricki Lake, J.R. Martinez, Rob Kardashian, Nancy Grace and the wooden Hope Solo, who proves that not every athlete can cut a rug.

Dancing With the Stars led into a second-place 7.5/13 in the overnights for Body of Proof at 10 p.m. Comparably, retention for Body of Proof out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of Dancing With the Stars was modest at 62 percent.

Unfortunately for aforementioned Fox, absence did not make the ratings get any stronger on Tuesday with its rotation of Glee, New Girl and Raising Hope all dipping to season lows. Glee is now an official victim of the “too much, too soon” syndrome, with a third-place 5.5/ 8 from 8-9 p.m. While this could still be enough to win the hour among adults 18-49, Glee dipped by 10 percent from most recent (and already diluted) overnight performance on Tuesday, Oct. 4 (6.1/10). With weaker lead-in support, New Girl at 9 p.m. dipped to a 5.1/ 8 (#3), with its four-week overnight track as follows:

New Girl (Fox)
9/20/11: 7.4/11 (#3)
9/27/11: 6.3/ 9 (#3)
10/04/11: 6.0/ 9 (#3)
11/01/11: 5.1/ 8 (#3)

Raising Hope at 9:30 p.m. finished fourth, with a 3.7/ 6 (and retention out of New Girl of 73 percent).

Minus The X Factor in the competitive mix, The Biggest Loser on NBC perked up to a 4.3/ 7 from 8-10 p.m., which was 16 percent above the 3.7/ 7 from last week. One year earlier, an abbreviated 8-9 p.m. edition of The Biggest Loser (on Election Night) scored a 4.6/ 7 on 11/03/10.

The Biggest Loser led into Parenthood, which finished a distant third in the overnights with a 3.7/ 6 at 10 p.m. (but avoids the “loser” label because it always resonates among adults 18-49).

The CW remained lost with its combination of dramas 90210 (1.3/ 2) and Ringer (1.4/ 2), which finished only equal to failed year-ago occupant Life Unexpected. The added recent exposure did not, unfortunately, help Ringer.
