I thought Burn Notice was great tonight. I liked Sam and Jesse working together and the Michael and Fi scenes were spot on. I love how Michael is willing to risk everything to keep the law away from Fi. This fiercely loyal, intensely protective Michael is a far cry from the character in season 1 and I like him a whole lot better for it. All in all, I think these episodes of Burn Notice have been a lot better than the summer ones this season and I can't wait to see what they do about Anson. I'm still hoping he dies before the finale but that hope is very much dwindling.
For me this was a great episode, mostly for the high notes: Jesse wearing glasses, Sam using power tools, Fi wanting the infra-red binocs, Pierce acknowledging that Michael is best used as a team leader. I'm hoping this is a toe-in-the-water for later season development: Michael running a good version of the burned-spy ring!!
I'm in agreement with you Dahne. I love how Michael is now. No longer stoic and uncaring like in Seasons 1 and most of season 2. I too love how Michael is willing to risk everything to protect Fiona. This protectiveness showed in "Long Way Back" and "Good Intentions" in season 3. He nearly lost it in both eps when he thought he was going to lose her. I hope this doesn't change come Season 6. We'll have to see how it plays out.
I agree with both of you. I love the protective and loyal Michael. I am loving watching Michael and Fiona scenes this season because we are getting a much deeper connection between the two of them.
Long Way Back is my favorite episode. Good Intentions, Hot Seat, and Where There's DFire are runners-up for me. There's something about Fiona being in trouble that brings out the best in Michael and reminds me why I root for these two to begin with.
Agreed. In the first season, I almost stopped watching because I felt Michael was largely a jerk to everyone. However, as the seasons have progressed his character has also progressed. As has Fiona's. The new, more mature versions are attracting me beyond sometimes weak plots and bad villains. There's no one on air I ship more than Michael and Fi.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteNeeding intensive rest after fierce pace to an explosive conclusion! Making us wait two weeks for the next ride is pure torture.
ReplyDeleteI loved it! I love this quite new vulnerable and protective Michael Weston so much.
